Bridge Officer Changes

Just so I understand the new system, you cannot improve skills anymore, right?

Balt still says you use Expertise points to improve or buy new skills, that confused me.

So, as I understand is, Expertise points are only used to train new skills from manuals, correct? Or can you somehow use them to push a skill from I to III?

    It is all manuals now. Expertise is only for training Boffs with the manuals and for promoting your Boffs far as I can tell.

    This is a huge noob question but I can't find an answer anywhere. How do you use the manuals to trian the Boffs? I've tried clicking the manuals, I've tried clicking the boff, I've looked for buttons on every screen, but I can't work out how to do this apparently simple thing that is so obvious that it's not even explained in the wiki.

    Someone, please put me out of my misery.

    Go to your character you wish to change's skills tab, click on the skill you wish to replace and scroll down the list until you see the one you've got in inventory (the blue "Learn" button'll be lit). Click learn, then click on the original skill then the new one to swap them.

    You'll maybe need to go to your Stations page, select the officer you changed and then use the reset button to enable the new set of skills (Loadouts save the skills slotted at the time).

    Thanks. Got it now. This really should be covered in the tutorial. Or maybe it is and I was off that day.
