Gaining Mastery XP Post-Patch

he11bladehe11blade Member Posts: 98 Arc User
With the changes to patrols, what will be a good way to gain ship XP following today's patch? I hear a lot of people will be doing ground battlezones for the general XP but I'd like to continue to gain ship mastery XP, so I welcome your suggestions.

Thanks!

STFs and battlegrounds, most likely. They both got an exp buff.

Maybe if they changed things in Tau Dewa (upped the skill points from killing NPCs back to normal because they reduced them dramatically compared to Delta Patrol NPCs, Cryptic, please fix that), you can pop between some systems. Let's say you finish Argala, then the 30 minute CD starts for that system, go do Japori system (Tau Dewa), and after that the Carraya system (Tau Dewa), perhaps after those two patrols the CD will be at about 15 or so minutes to start your next round, so do a PvE on Normal or something to pass the time if your ship isn't up for Advanced because of noobs. I would suggest doing that for mastery "grinding", since it is still a grind, albeit a much more manageable one than it was.

STFs, the space zones in the sphere, or a patrol rotation instead of spamming the same one continuously (Tau Dewa is better distributed for this than the Delta Quadrant, but Delta patrols individually should still be better xp - stepping your way south from the top you should be able to hit combat heavier patrols long enough to transwarp back to the top and start over).

KDF has Empire Defence. That's good fun, and worth a nice chunk of Dil as well.

Federation... I've no idea what would be best, but I suspect that the mission Surface Tension, defending ESD & Qo'nos would be up there. You kill a great many Undine ships there.

Next best i saw for ship mastery aside from patrols is Vicious cycle, adv or elite. loads of newer content mobs that give a ton of ship exp.

Battle of Korfez, Viscous Cycle Elite, Voth/kobali Battle zone, end Delta story missions that have a lot of vaadwaur enemies, CCA is fast in any PuG, DRSE, NTTE also very fast, Starbase 24, Fleet Alert. all fast missions with very good XP gain even before todays patch.

XP BONUS weekend..at least for a few days would be hard to ascertain base levels and the new changes that are taking place with the Argala Nerf.

Only if you are teamed; otherwise, you only get credit for your own kills. This is why STFs are inherently superior.

And if you ARE teamed make SURE everyone is matching level, if not you get docked points.

Its an XP bonus weekend! hard to say and wait till Monday or see tribbles forums to see the real damage caused by the nerf. Hoping that at least there will something that gives over 5000XP-600XP on Monday but not holding my breath :D

I still think before this is all over, they ought to look at bundling XP boosts with all forms of purchase (including some for subbing). And making the boosts meaningful in value at endgame.

I actually think Starship Mastery would have made more sense if new ships came with a "Shakedown" XP bonus that diminishes as mastery tier improves.

Subbing IMHO should come with bonus XP that makes one spec level per week go by much faster. Something like a triple XP buff applied every Sunday to gold subs that expires when one spec level is earned.

Then have new gear and ships come with baked in XP bonuses that dwindle as you deal damage with them. So you buy a new ship and get something like quadruple XP for the first Mastery level, triple for the second, double for the third, 50% bonus for T4 and then no XP boost once you unlock T5 in a C-Store ship, encouraging you to move on to the next one.

Exact numbers could always stand to be tuned. I'm just talking about the CONCEPT
