"No shards are available to your account at this time."

I just noticed this while firing up Neverwinter, and then STO and Champions. I hadn't updated Neverwinter in a while and wanted to patch my game during downtime. Before, I was able to patch and update any Cryptic clients while they were down. Now I am unable to.

This is new to me. Forgive me if this is old, but I've never seen this.

    Servers are being patched, so they're not available.

    theres always 1 or 2 that dont read and get the wrong idea, try and patch the game it will say "No shards are available to your account at this time."

    thats not cos of the downtime, that message has never come up before if youve been in the game long enough u would know that.

    Yeah, definitely a new one. I usually patch up before maintenance is over.
    If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.

    My guess is the patch servers might be getting a refresh today even if just turned off for a bit, I'm not sure how much love they get.

    This particular message is unusual though and a bit of a bother. Usually i play tribble during maintenance.
    This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    Yes bothersome is correct. Makes me wonder if we will be able to play this afternoon.

    I wish a dev or someone would at least tell us if this is normal and what it means.

    I agree with this, I have been playing since 2012 and never seen it myself.

    Well perhaps this is the end for Cryptic and this is how they will pack it all up... J/K yet I could see a game company do this kind of stuff when they decided to stop doing their games.

    This is not a normal message. Normally you can pre-patch the Thursday patch and get ready for when the servers come back.

    All of the shards (Holo, Tribble , Redshirt) are down without any method of applying the patch.

    Perhaps the day has finally come and this game has gone to the dustbin in the sky ;)

    From the NW Community Manager, as no-one at Sto seems to like posting updates . . . .

    Update 3 (8:24 AM PST) - We've identified the issue with the account server and will be working to resolve it. However this means we will need to extend maintenance by another hour. The new estimated time is 11:30 AM PST. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.
    Definitely not an Arc User.

    ....regarding games that just 'end' one day:

    MechWarrior tactics did just that.
    They continued taking customers money, kept selling the game, literally up to the day they suddenly closed.

    And for those that laugh that the though that a game like this could close, all you have to do is look back at the MMO City of Heroes.

    Im guessing when we do see these shards, thats when we will see the patch downloading.

    been around since 10', never saw it before. but it dont make any difference, time will be lost regardless and those that complain about it, otherwise you may as well look at sleeping, eating food, going out getting some fresh air, having a life, work and so many other things that take up more time.

    will see what happens after the deadline in 20 minutes from now.

    is not huh? how is it they keep bringing different toilets but always have the same problems? how imaginative you want to be with that is upto you as far as toilet humor goes, but is essentially accurate if anything the last 2 years has shown.

    yes and no, but no one is forcing you to play new stuff or get them. its up to you if you do or not.

    let me get this straight we have to find out extended downtime for STO from a different games forums ... wtf is going on
