I am considering getting the nukara refracting tetryon beams, i heard there was a mine based build anyone know what build that is? Anyone know if the beams are any good? Im currently running fleet phasers so not sure of what dps change would be from fleet to rep weapons

I used thd mine on my escort with dpb3 and was very nice especially trapping borg cubes, i like phaser proc but the refracting tetryon means it seals damage to nearby ships also doesnt it? I would get rom beams as i hav the dhc but rom mark grind is boring lol i dont thinks mines on a cruiser wud be too good for me and i run 7 beams no torp so maybe tetryon not for me but i could use it as a team weapon

If you're inquiring about the proc, it has a very limited range(1.5km IIRC) and is quite infrequent. You honestly won't see that much of a difference between using normal and refracting weapons.

That said, the set is solid and you can double-dip with the Hirogen set for extra Tetryon bonus damage - which also applies to the special tetryon attacks from the completed sets and T5 Nukara Rep Active Ability.

I have a ship entirely kitted out in Nukara Tetryon. The benefits are mostly noticeable when engaging large groups of enemies, and the bonus of using Nukara-specific Tetryon is the chance to hit an additional target per hit. Considering what PvE generally is in this game, it's been a wonderful beam spam.

The Nukara mines are actually one of my favourite little toys in that if you use, say, Dispersion Pattern Beta III on them, you dump a larger net of them behind you, and after upgrading the mines they do a big chunk more damage. APA, APB, APO... use something to boost damage on a percentage base, and whatever gets trapped is not only disabled but even the largest enemy ships will be hard-pressed to remain intact after that.

The refracting beam effect is excellent for getting the attention of multiple enemies simultaneously, which makes it good for a tanking build.

The web mines are both useful and decorative. Someday, I need to mount them on an intel ship with ionic turbulence, and go off hunting Borg cubes. The sight of a Borg cube dancing in a frilly yellow tutu would gladden my heart.

There are no mine based builds. ALL mines share a cooldown so carrying more than 1 set is usually folly.

There are builds that use the nukara mines, that is another story.

Tet is good but you need a lot of flow caps (update today: resulting changes unclear) or you did before today to get good shield drains. With a high FC rating you can drain over 800 shields / proc. Its less than half that for a low FC build. NPC shields are 10s of thousands now for some enemy.... 800 once in a blue moon is unimpressive.

The best shield damage I have found is fast shooting weapons and tet-glider (omega set 2 piece bonus).

You might get a small dps upgrade if those are the beams that can bounce to do a minor AOE as a proc (?).

I can't think of any compelling reason to swap to tetyron weapons if you have a working set of good weapons. Its fine, and the nukara mines are handy, but the expense of buying new guns and upgrading them is hard to justify if you have something good already.

Im running fleet phasers and fancied a nukara mark sink, i have full flow caps so would be good, why do you think ots not worth swappin to tetryon?

While you're getting around to putting that combination together feel free to chuckle at this.

I use the complete Nukara set on the Schwarze (Mirror Adv. Escort), along with the Omega ABT and Dyson JCT sets; the other two fore slots are taken up by a pair of refracting tetryon DHCs. An 'alpha strike' consists of a combination of tac team/beam overload/cannon rapid fire... then I drop the mines as I buzz the target and a couple of seconds later feed them a Vaadwaur cluster torpedo...

I don't think I'd go for Nukara Tetryon weapons. Tet can be nice on a budget build since you can often get a grade higher in tet than what a similar 'good' weapon would cost, but Nukara tetryon have such an iffy proc yet cost similar to Romulan Plasma or Bio-Molecular Disruptor and something like twice as much as fleet weapons, they're just not worth the expense. If you wanna theme build and go tetryon, then go standard tetryon or farm some polarized tetryon then upgrade them, but the Nukara ones I just don't see as being a good purchase.

Is the biomolecular disruptor species 8472 beams from rep?
