Pretty sure those have become useless since the crafting update. I just discarded a bunch today.
But someone may know for sure. I'm not 100% on whether or not they're still useable.
Hi. My Klingon characters often get those mission that use the schematics - for marauding iirc. Perhaps if you tried the Eta Eridani sector block, or stick them on the exchange for KDF chars to use and earn some EC??
There IS an alternate use for them, if you collect a full set of all 12 of them there's a mission that occasionally comes up in Cardassian space to trade them to people in the Gamma Quadrant for dil and Gamma commodities.
also, you can sometimes find missions to BUY the assembled consumable for ec.

There are also KDF DOFF mission to hand them in. I think they are marauder type and so come under the first officer.

Personally I haven't bothered with the DOFF mission for these for quite sometime now as they have become prety useless like the alien artifacts. The only upside is that these items aren't craftable through the R&D system yet.
I used to use them in the Deuterium Surplus mission as the NPCs targetted it and not the tanks, but I stopped doing them when they removed the core fragments from it.
If they had just required the time and some ordinary materials PLUS the schematic (which already took time to get), then they might have been something worthwhile doing. Oh well.
No, they wouldn't. The turrets made from those schematics have pathetic DPS, instantly die as soon as an enemy looks anywhere in their direction and have such a long cooldown you can't even spam them. They'd be useless even if they were handed out for free. Better use the device slot for a battery.
Basically, take a basic fighter-type hangar pet (the kind that gets sold under 5,000 EC at the ship vendors). Remove its shields, engines, boff abilities and all but one of its weapons. Make it launch one at a time instead of 3. Give it a 5 minute cooldown. Then put it in a consumable device with 20 charges that costs over 10 times more than the hangar did and requires rare doff missions to acquire. That's the kind turret those schematics make. They're so bad its not even funny.
If they were a weapon like a mine dropper, they might be interesting. Dropping a dispersal patttern of them might actually do something (a pretty fireworks display when they all die at once if nothing else). Probably still need at least shields to live long enough to do any meaningful damage, though.
You know, even ground turrets have shields.
As a high-cooldown consumable? They'd need massive buffs to damage and hull strength, plus good shields and a weapon abillity or two. At least.
Go to your bridge, use the Doff contact, then look under Main Engineering/Assemble Prototype.
This is what I still use them for, not useless at all really. You can get decent devices from them. Five minute recharge, they get blown up rather quickly, but if you keep your weapons firing, it keeps the enemy from targeting them most times as I've seen it.

Oh, they don't die because the enemy targets them. They don't do enough damage to draw aggro (unless there is no players in 10km range I suppose). But almost all worthwhile enemies have something AoE...BFAW, torp spread, grav well, TBR, etc so they just blow up on the side.
And of course, if they do survive its only because they don't do enough damage for anyone to notice.
I tend to use the turrets to "babysit' some spot where the NPCs will be coming past, like the paths that the Borg probes will follow towards the Time Vortex in Khitomer Vortex, or on the route to the IKS Kang in The Cure. They don't do much damage, but they seem to slow down the enemies a few seconds to allow me to haul butt over to fight them. The low damage inflicted tends to mean that Chroniton torpedoes are the most useful since those slow the target's flight speed.
I ran into a DOff mission in Zeta Andromeda, I think, that required one of each schematic for some type of faction research; I should write it down next time I see it...

Yeah, you get a LOT if you crit THAT one. But it's not an easy task since you need one of each blueprint.
