Dismissing a ship or BOFF should automatically put equipped items in your inventory

There are safety guards that you don't accidentaly dismiss a ship or BOFF - but players can still manage to not know or forget that the gear equipped will be dismissed, too.

So, how if the ship or BOFF was just "unequipped" before the ship is dismissed? (THough I#d like to have a feature where I can still get rid of all the white common standard gear they come equipped with, because I hate dismissing that item by item).

I am always very careful when dismissing ships and unequip everythnig that could still have some value, but not everyone is so mindful, and everyone screws up occassionally. And with the simple ship transition and the loadout system in place, it seems like this is a very feasible addition.

And if you delete a character it put all his items into another characters inventory.

Sorry but the game clearly warns about that happening and there are kind of bigger issues IMO.

so, when we grab a ship, steal its console, and dismiss it, we now have to deal with 20 junk items to delete? No thanks.

Not talking about the stock TRIBBLE that it comes 'pre-packed' with, I'm talking about long-standing equipment that has been used before.

if they handled the junk issue, I would be all for it.
But they can't even fix ship loadouts, so I am hesitant to want to see this ... odds are about 50-50 that it would just make our gear vanish all the time, instead of only when you leave it on the ship.

The current system is fine. If anything, improve the warning message, if it's really unclear. I don't think it is, though.

Im pretty sure it does warn.... but even if not..... working brain anyone? What would expect to happen to the items of dismissed ships and items?

    Well both are items.
So if the system is to set one item apart for other... meaning to know what junk can be deleted with the ship and what junk not... the devs would have to go through every single item ID in this game and mark them as eligible for "repacking" or not.
All because some people lack basic brain functionality?

    KISS.
step 1) make all ships start with NO gear apart from their unique console/weapon stuff.
step 2) dump all gear from ship to inventory/overflow when ship is deleted.

Going thru the database is the hard way.

I just looked at the ship dismiss screen, and it actually does not state that gear equipped to the ship will be lost. However, it is still common sense that this will happen.

Even if you're the smartest person in the world that never makes any mistakes, no matter how dumb or easy they are to make, you would still get the convenience of not having to manually unequip a ship before dismissing.
Reducing the chance to make errors and increasing convenience? If that isn't a great Quality of Life feature!

I am all for dumping the free white commons that every ship come and not putting them in the inventory, that would certainly also be convenient.

no it should not... i claim a ship only for it's console and then I dismiss ship.

why would I want a bunch of low level junk with no resale value to clog my inventory?

just take off what you want to keep and dismiss.

That's true even smart people do stupid things. And then they to live with the consequences.

Just yesterday the game annoyed me as hell when I accidently hit the wrong button and opened my do assigment roster to get the window with the option to complete yesterday's craftimh for 17.000 dillithium right were I klicked to mark my enemy. Don't see me asking for a refund because I did something stupid. Which I did in this case

    SIGNED.

Just seems like common sense that a feature like this should be in the game.

I am a longtime player, and I recently did this in haste and lost a set of 8472 rep equipment. The tooltip could use improvement, but this is a lesson I should have been learned at lvl 10-20, when gear is still cheap, but the system wasn't available way back then. It's just a painful very and expensive lesson at this point for a 60, but I don't want to add yet another issue to the mix for comfort. I'd much rather they fix/allow the trait configurations to save on specific build loadouts, higher priority IMO with all the added content.
