beam animation sizes

stormfarestormfare Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Hey anyone else feeling that the size of the beam weapons are too large. When i fire beams the width of the actual beam is about the size of a ships nacelles. When flying shuttles its like the size of the shuttle firing.
Is there any chance that weapon animation size can be scaled? Beams should not be the size of a starship nacelle in width.

    It's not an issue.

The Devs themselves stated that scaling is all over the place in order to allow for a certain amount of consistent visibility; with sizes just being approximate to give some sense of size.

    That includes weapon effects.

I can understand that the devs don't want the beams to be too thin such under the worst case the beam width becomes less than a pixel in width on the screen, but most beams are far, far away from that point. Additionally, there is a lot of variation in current beam thicknesses between weapons. The kinetic cutting beam seems to be the thinnest by a good margin, and yet, it is still quite visible.

Personally, I would be thrilled if they reduced the thickness of most beams by about half, still easily visible, but not monstrously large. At that size all the unique detail of the beams would still be visible and I would actually be able to see my ship through all the beams firing!

i wish the game was properly sized instead of your starship being a good fraction of the planet that you are orbiting's total volume.

all of the enviroments need to be bigger.

I love the size of the beam of the retrofit tos phaser, its not to thick, not to thin, just the sound hurts after a while. While all modern beams are way to fat.
