I got the Kobali ship today. So far I like what I see! Maybe will save me 3000 zen for my Romulan.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
I'd say no. Vesta is 12 boffs, 11 consoles, and a hangar. New ships are 13 boffs, 11 consoles, and a trait. The trait looks nice, but I'm sure not dropping over $100 for that.
I have to agree. The entirety of STO simply isn't worth that much. Other games sell entire expansion packs with way, way, WAY more content for less than what these ships cost.
yeah you're right just buying 1 new ship is the price of the average mmo expansion pack. and i have payed for 7 ships before i got my baby the vesta class
If you just want one of them you don'T have to shell over 120 bucks... though 35 is still steep or one of them. If you want 2 to have some customization option, it's 60 I believe?
In 1-2 years, you'll have another level cap, and those ship will be made obsolete by the T7.
And before that, new spec tree, new ships using those trees, and probably some hybrid intel-command ships in the future.
So, if you want to pay 120$ for ships that will be made obsolete in a few months or years, be my guest.
That's close to the price of a LTS in many games, and it last longer than that.
Apples and Oranges..... The Vesta is a science ship (and a good one), the new ships are cruisers. And what exactly defines what is better ? Very subjective.

New ships have a hangar too. And the op is not talking about $100 or $120, he's specifically asking about the $30 to get one ship.
@ OP: I think the decision depends on what you think of your Vesta. That is a great ship. If you love the science powers, none of these have a commander science officer spot, so you'll lose that. However, commander powers are great for helping your team and they add some nice debuffs and controls, which most people like about science. Me, personally, I would stay with the Vesta. But if you have been wanting something new that is a little similar but more team focused, try the science variant.

I doubt very much there will ever be a T7. We're Fleet Admirals now, you can't get any higher unless you leave Starfleet/KDF/Republic and become President of the world

Do you like paying $120 for an account-wide unlock of 3 starship traits per toon, 2 of which are much worse than the third?
Do you like paying $120 for ships with a whopping Turn Rate of 8?
Sure, worth it. Do let me know how that works out for you.
Couldn't even fly from qunos with mine.
It sucks.
NOPE
Too Expensive.
