Seems a lot has changed, and Im muddling through it, but I have one thing I can't figure out. I just wanna try out the new anniversary cruiser, and was going to use Polarize hull 3, but I can't find out how to do train it anymore. I don't really care about the specific skill, but it made me notice I can't find a number of abilities anymore. Am I missing something? I understand there is a new system, but for the life of me I can't find any information about it. A little help please?
A lot has changed this past year, far more than I could explain here. But the dev blogs are good place to start. especially the more recent ones, that's would shed light on the bridge officer questions you have.
Basically, a captain of that type (Science for polarize) needs to craft a one-time-use PADD. You get the PADD, then go to the skills tab for your boff and click LEARN.
You can get some PADDs from the skill trainers. The special III ones by crafting them yourself with the right captain, having a friend / fleet mate do it, or buying them on the Exchange.
The crafting cost is low, 200 dil and some green mats, so the Exchange prices should be reasonable.
Crafting is done using the R & D tab on the Doff window.
I do get the gist of the new boff system, as in the PADDs and all that, but the problem is, I can't seem to find a way to train certain skills. It seems the ones that used to be trainable only from Boffs only are missing. I have several alts of all classes. On my science character for example, there doesn't seem to be a polarize hull 3 in the list of trainable skills, nor can i find anything on the exchange. I am just wondering since this change seems to be relatively new, if its unfinished or something, which wouldn't surprise me.
Ah, yes, for "doff only" skills that could never be trained by a captain you are out of luck for now.
The devs promise it will be fixed eventually but for now only doffs that already had that skill can use it.
I like being able to have my science captain craft Grav Well 3 for my other captains, and I really like boffs remembering every skill you teach them and being able to toggle them at will.
Losing access to some III skills for now, and some bugs in the ship station and skill selections is not so nice.
Well, thanks for the reply mate. I see cryptic is still up their same tactics of revamping something and implementing it in an unfinished state. Weee

Tomorrow's patch will allow the conversion of BOFFs into training manuals which will restore the functionality of BOFF trainable skills, time lapsed, two weeks.
It's like Spock came aboard and fixed the warp drive.
