Buying ships with Zen

Greetings all,

I have a question, well I bought the original series costumes for 550 zen, and it's unlocked for all of my character slots that I have (which is really cool).

What I'm wondering is, if I decide to buy a ship with my zen, such as the "Dreadnought Cruiser",

will that ship then, (after I buy it), be unlocked for All my federation characters? and future slots for fed characters?
or just for one?

Also, if it is unlocked for every fed character, how do I get it for each one? obviously I go to earth space dock shipyard.

Yet I mean, will it be free then for each of my characters that reach level 50?

Please if someone could reply to me (maybe a few somebodies lol).

Yes, zen store ships can be requisitioned for free at the shipyards of Earth Space Dock (or Qo'nos if Klingon ship) and Deep Space Nine, across all your Fed characters.

If you've bought one, it'll be listed as a possible purchase in the shipyard, but with a price tag of 0 zen. You just need to have an empty ship slot, and you're good to go.

Federation (or Klingon) ships you buy at the zen store will be unlocked for all your Fed (Kling) characters. You can claim them in the ship requisition. Just select the ship you bought and then click "Buy" just like you would buy a new ship. If you've aready bought it the price tag will show 0 zen. You can also discharge your zen ship and reclaim it again as many times as you like.

The old series bundle you bought will be available for all future Fed characters as well. Just go to the zen store menu select the bundle and claim it.

    Hello,

can I buy a ship (e. g. star cruiser), that
requires the rank of a vice admiral for example, with zen, while being only a lieutenant commander?

I searched on the forum, but maybe I didn't search right or was not clear for me to understand.

When I buy a ship from the Zen store, it is account bound for all my captains or only for the Fed, KDF, Rom captain I'm logged into when I purchase the ship?

Did you even read the posts before this? They answered your question. When you buy a ship using Zen it unlocks that ship for ALL characters that are of the correct rank and faction, so you can claim it whenever you want, any number of times you want.

No not really. Westmetals said "...providing that they are of the proper faction and level to use the ship." That is the reason for the confusion and question.

If my Vulcan buys a Dyson ship, can my Klingon claim one too. If my KDF reman buys a ship can my fed romulan use it.

No need to be rude just because you misunderstood me.

Unfortunately, No you cannot, you must be the appropriate level to purchase a VA level ship. It doesn't matter if you have the necessary zen at a previous moment if you are not at a level where you are able to claim and use the ship on that particular character. But if you have the appropriate ranked character they could purchase and an alt can claim when they reach the appropriate level.

Its been that way as long as I can recall.

    It's even better than that.

Zen-purchased ships are permanently "unlocked" for all characters on your account, providing that they are of the proper faction and level to use the ship.

Additionally, you can dismiss and reclaim the ships an unlimited number of times (in order to strip off and use special weapons or consoles elsewhere), though each character may only have one copy of the same ship at the same time.

And in the case of Tier 5 ships (and this will probably be true with Tier 6 also, once Fleet Tier 6 ships are released), owning the Zen ship also activates a discount on the Fleet variant (if there is one) of the identically named ship-type (aside from the word "Fleet").

Starship Upgrade Requisitions work similarly; they will unlock the upgrade on the identical T5 ship (as well as Fleet variant) account-wide with a single token.

As I wish to understand this I need some clarification on the following. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have joined a fleet with character "A" and character "B". If I purchase a Fleet Caitian Atrox Carrier with character "A". I would have access to this ship with both characters "A" & "B"? Also, I would also have access to the Caitian Atrox Carrier [non-fleet version] for every non-fleet Federation character I own currently or in the future?

I am really hoping this is true, and if so -- what happens if I upgrade the standard Caitian Atron Carrier to a T5-U ?

Thank you in advance whoever can point me to the answer.

No. Fleet ships are per character unlock only. If you buy the Fleet Atrox on Charatcer A, then only Character A will have a Fleet Atrox. You would need to buy another Fleet Atrox for Character B.

Yes. All C-store ships are account wide. So every Fed character you have can claim the non-fleet Atrox for no additional cost.

Once you upgrade a ship, it upgrades it for your account. So you only need to upgrade a ship once. It also upgrades the fleet version. You still have to buy a fleet ship on each character, but it will be free to upgrade to T5U once you buy it.

To be as concise as possible with this:

Purchases made "purely" from the C-store (or a regular shipyard) are account level unlocks.
Purchases made from the fleet shipyards (aka require access to a shipyard level X and use up a fleet requisition) are character unlocks.

    To put this into practice:

If Character A were to spend the FCs and the 4(5?) fleet modules to straight up procure a fleet Atrox, because said purchase uses a fleet requisition and requires access to the T5 shipyard, it is a character level unlock - and only accessible to Character A. Character B has not received access to anything with the name Atrox.

If either Character A or Character B were to buy the "standard" Atrox (whether from the C-store or any shipyard), since it is a non-fleet-requiring version, the purchase is an account level unlock. This way, both character(s) can visit a shipyard and access the ship. Also, ownership of the C-store version of any given ship grants a discount in the fleet yards, making procurement of the fleet version of the ship only a 1 module price (along with the normal FC and ship requisition)

Upgrade tokens (from T5 to T5U) are C-store purchases. Therefore, the benefit they apply are account level unlocks - even though not all character(s) may have access to said ship. To wit:
If you were to buy the C-store Atrox - unlocking it account wide so that A and B can fly it, but you only spend fleet credits and a fleet module on Character A, then upgrade that fleet version to T5U11 - Character A has the "fancy fleet Atrox" while Character B only has a "standard T5" Atrox. If Character B were to later purchase a Fleet Atrox, then he, too, would have the T5U11 version, instead of a plain fleet T5...
If you were to put an upgrade token on the regular Atrox, any Atrox you (re)claim from the shipyards will be of the T5U variety - but fleet versions would not be (unless you've already spent an upgrade token on one, somewhere...)

Hopefully this helps clarify it for you - the scenerios can get - confusing - but the underlying rules aren't "too" confusing as long as you understand the difference(s)...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

    westmetals and dareau:

Thank you both for your quick and concise answers. I understand fully. Always unlock the account wide c-store versions and their upgrades BEFORE unlocking the character bound fleet versions. :)
