Let's begin with I am an admitted noob. Now that that is out of the way...Where may I locate information on what I should keep and what I should discard of all the items I am collecting. My Inventory and Bank slots are getting full of food items, Tribbles, older Mark weapons, etc. All input is appreciated.

IMHO, green and white (Common/Uncommon) items are vendor trash. Basically sell them unless you need it. Blue and up you want to keep to either list on the exchange or use yourself. That goes for all marks of gear throughout your journey. If you are in a fleet then donate unwanted items to it, but make sure you know what you can toss in as most won't take anything under Rare (blue).

    Now onto the Tribbles.....

    1. Discard. Nothing makes you feel more alive than tossing a bunch of fluff balls out the airlock!

    2. Breed them for the tier 8 Tribbles (not that they're really much use). Here is the STO Wiki guide for breeding

    3. Get a cannibal Tribble and have some fun :D If you want some easy Gold Pressed Latinum, there is a bounty on the KDF side for them. If you're playing a Fed you can always check what they are selling for on the exchange and see if the carcasses are worth selling.

    4. If you have a KDF toon then you can always bake the Tribbles by talking to your chef and sell the items you make (used to go for a fair amount on exchange but not sure as I closed my Tribble Farm a little over 4 months ago).

Not sure if I missed anything at all, but if I did than I know someone else will mention it :D

There really isn't a location for that information--it is all learned behavior.
    • You can safely discard any tribbles and consumable food items.
    • Personally I also discard all small and medium hypos/power cells/shield charges as they're rather useless IMO. (Only Large versions are worth using, and thus, keeping)
    • Any Common/White quality equipment can be discarded, or, better, sold to a vendor for 50% of their listed value (discarding only gives 40%). I actually ignore Common drops and let them stay on the battlefield unless I'm specifically doing a loot run for energy credits, and even then that's only in space because ground gear is worth garbage; I always ignore ground loot unless it's Rare or higher.
      • Unless you're struggling for gear for yourself, your ships, or your boffs, Uncommon/Green equipment can be dumped as well.
    • Rare/Blue equipment may or may not have a higher exchange sale value than you can get from a vendor depending on the item, such as tactical consoles. I always pick up Rare loot (just in case) but most of it gets sold to a vendor anyway since all of my equipment and boff equipment is reputation or fleet equipment.
    • Always pick up Very Rare/Violet loot because, again, it might be useful to you or get a higher exchange price than from a vendor.
    • Commodities, while Common in quality, are needed for the Duty Officer system and Fleet projects, so I would Bank those items.
    • Contraband is always a keeper, either to sell on the exchange, or turn in to a security officer for dilithium.

Now personal preference comes into play. Do you want to have a beam or cannon ship? Maybe the rarer torpedo boat? On ground do you and your boffs want to have a royal rumble and get in close to the enemy and slug it out with melee weapons and pulsewaves, or would you rather keep your distance with rifles? Discard anything that doesn't match your play style.
