The Crafted Aegis Set [Account Bound]

flash525flash525 Member Posts: 5,441 Arc User
From the patch notes:
  • The Aegis Set pieces have had their Bind Rules updated to Bind on Equip to Account.
    • This change will affect any newly created Aegis Set gear and brings the Bind Rules in line with the other High End Crafting Gear.

I've just checked the set that's on my Nebula, and it's very much still bound to character. This apparently (and rightly) should be bound to account now.

The patch notes clearly state that existing sets will not be updated.

You're right. How'd I miss that? Obviously just read the first part, but even so, what a silly decision. If people have already crafted the set, why can't it be made an account unlock? It's not like active items haven't been changed before. :(

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this, though :) I crafted the set way back in the old crafting system, I'm not entirely sure that mine even got updated to the new stats properly. But I think it would have been the sensible thing to do. Or, if technically impossible, why not do it similiar to the omega rep gear. There's an NPC allowing you to trade an old item for a "new", identical one.

Newly crafted as in today on? . . . I have a few sets crafted under the new system but not used.
Have you tried the new forum on your phone?

I'd think "newly crafted" means anything crafted as of today. So your few sets should not be updated. Maybe you can check it, though :)

It is technically possible. Problem is, they just don't care. If they did care, they would have spent the extra time to make the change. Seems if you did something the old way or actually used the old system when it was in place you get punished. Once again shows not caring about the players who actually supported them before the "great" expansion.

Sorry after today's update I just really irritated with the game. Guess I need to go to my time out corner and vent...lol

I'm also of the opinion they should fix existing ones. The swap out would be an acceptable work around.

I have reported this several times as soon as they included the upgrade system. They don't seem to care much.

If it were account bound I might actually play around with it more. Otherwise, it's too expensive.

EDIT: And by "reported" I mean I created bug reports and trouble tickets.

It seems as if they can't as easily change the binding state or nature of already bound items as they can change other stats. Weird* and unfortunate.

IIRC, older Aegis Set may still be in the "Infinity Mark" state until you open them in the upgrade screen- maybe that can "trick" the system to reset the bind state? But I doubt it.

*) Maybe not that weird if you think about that something like "+30 to Starship Emitters" or "2.5 % proc to heal hull on receiving hull damage" or whatever is a fixed on all instances of an item. Basically, all Aegis Sets can reference to the same information for this. But the bind state is something that each individual item you own must have set for itself, it can't refer to any other source. It may be a question of who is "pulling" data from a source, and who can "push" data to a target.

Did you make a thread in the bug forum and include your bug report ticket number? I know frost gets bugs on the devs list, but I often think customer service deletes the tickets without telling anyone.

No, the patch notes have an amendment which states that the "change will affect any newly created Aegis Set gear and brings the Bind Rules in line with the other High End Crafting Gear." Nowhere does that say this is only for Aegis Sets create as of today in the new crafting system. To me that reads as an addition to not exclusive of.

    Then there is this...

The old set is upgraded to the new stats.

Players who were able to craft AEGIS in the old system will receive the Duty Officer that allows AEGIS crafting for free when the new system launches, as well as a title for progressing that far in the previous system.

Players who gained any XP at all in the old system will receive the "Dabbler" title as a reward when the new system launches.

So in my opinion this is still bugged.

well your reading is off imo... "newly created" means new items crafted post patch. old aegis sets are stuck as bind on character.

How do you read "existing items will be updated" in "changes will affect any newly created items"?

Newly created. As in, after the patch, you create one item. Otherwise it's not a "newly created" item.

    Simple, the first line is
The Aegis Set pieces have had their Bind Rules updated to Bind on Equip to Account

Not to mention devs have stated in the past this feature should have been implemented on existing set pieces. Regardless I can see how the statement is ambiguous and would appreciate a dev to clarify if indeed this fix is ONLY for newly created sets or all sets.

Apologies on bumping this post, but could someone (one of the Devs) look at fine tuning all Aegis components to be Account Bound please - including those created before the patch (the one referenced at the start of this thread).

I love the set; I have one - on a character that I wish to delete. I wont (nor should I) justify spending 15-20million EC on purchasing the set for a second time, when (by rights) it should be bound to account, nor character.
