Ideas for Future R&D Craftables

While I like the R&D system so far, I wish it wasn't so limited in the energy types, and types of weapons it can produce.

Reputation Energy Types: This could be another T5 Rep unlock, the ability to craft that Reputations Unique Energy types for the wide Arc beam arrays and DHCs. Additionally, I'd love to see Quad Cannons added in as well for all the various energy types.

Non-Reputation Special Energy Types: Things like the Dominion Polarons and Caustic Plasma Weapons from the Romulan story line could be added as something you learn by completing certain related missions. It also be a great chance to add in Breen themed polaron weapons. For these kinds of mission rewards weapons, since the only way to get them is running the mission over an over, they could possibly unlock all the various types of weapons, and not just the wide arc ones.

Aegis Weapon Set: Many factions have a ship weapon set and ship gear set, it would be cool to see crafting get a Aegis ship weapon set to match its ship gear set. Also a Romulan Republic flavored set would be nice too.

Shuttle Gear Sets: Shuttles have their own gear, but its really not very good, so I'm sure a lot of people use other gear, but R&D could be a way to introduce shuttle gear sets and shuttle weapon sets with set bonuses better geared toward shuttle combat. And it would also be cool if weapon sets could have the energy types available to them from the reputation factions available as well.

    I'm waiting for melee weapons, new types of swords or maybe some of the weapons only NPCs have access to (those Klingon daggers, the knives Voth spec ops troops use, Jem'hadar polearm.)

    I was just thinking about asking if we could get a Core to go with the Aegis Space set. Perhaps something with kinetic bonuses to balance off the energy benefits from the space set.

    Here's a thought: Let us craft lock box keys! The requirements can be more stringent than common goods, but this would actually encourage people to use the lock boxes more than currently. Here's another chance for Cryptic to add another potential income stream!

    Other items: hybrid ground or space sets, where characteristics from multiple species or rep's could be combined with neural processors/implants/injections to suit the player's play style more closely. Ship/shuttle crafting, crafting of hybrid consumables (options chosen from a list), and even crafting personalized Captain/BOff traits. (Since we're dreaming...) :cool:
