Getting Plasmonic Leech console for me Fed

hexwrenchhexwrench Member Posts: 13 Arc User
edited January 2015 in The Academy
Hi,

I want to get the plasmonic leech console for my Fed and I've seen that the KDF Vandal destroyer comes with it. What I don't know is: can I buy the ship with my KDF char and mail the console to my Fed captain? This would be way cheaper than buying it from the exchange.

Thanks!

Nope. The console is bound to character so there's no way to give it to your Fed (all C-store ship consoles are bound to character). The only option for Feds and Fed-aligned Romulans is to buy it off of the exchange.

Thanks, I didn't know if the console was account or char bound.

The reason it's expensive is cause you can only get the Fed one out of the drop box. Think it's the Delta one, but don't not sure.

    Tal Shiar Lock-Box!

I have all those special consoles from Lock-Boxes so far. Way more cheaper and I get tons of other stuff I can use/sell.

You can get older Boxes from the Exchange, or I think sometimes they are available in the Dilithium Store for a short time. But I usually go for the Exchange.

Cause god forbid you have a federation toon and a kdf toon, or enjoy federation ships, or like cheap doffs, or easy teaming, or any other number of reasons.
    SCM - Crystal C. (S) - [00:12] DMG(DPS) - @jarvisandalfred: 8.63M(713.16K) - Fed Sci

    SCM - Hive (S) - [02:31] DMG(DPS) - @jarvisandalfred: 30.62M(204.66K) - Fed Sci

playing a KDF toon actually IS such a pain in the TRIBBLE. Everything from ship releases to new content to botched bugs (uniform slots bug has been going on 2 years now?) to lack of fleet support and lack of overall game support.

You get a plasmonic more reliably, yes, but you suffer in every other aspect of the game. It's not a fair tradeoff.

I love the idea of playing as KDF faction, but IMO they should allows KDF to join fed fleets to lessen some of this strain.

Almost every other aspect of the game. Kdf do farm dilithium pretty easy.

And art least they fixed the "make your eyes bleed" user interface.

So the full list of pro kdf:
    Easy contraband/dilithium
    Easy leech
The ui doesn't try to hurt you anymore

    Con kdf:
Pretty much everything else in the game

Which is sad, because I do enjoy my Klingons.

what strain would joining a fed fleet alleviate?

OP, do not buy lockboxes and hope for a leech. if you really want the leech on your fed that badly, sell the keys for ec and buy the leech of the exchange.

We've been getting hammered by lots of Spambots the last few months at First City. Other than that, you could go to your faction's homebase in the KDF and not see chat that drives you to turn off Zone.

There is a lot of things wrong or failed to do on Cryptic's behalf on the KDF. But what's funny is that the Klingons are actually closer to the IP than the Feds and most especially the Roms are in STO.

On my feds I often just use the maco shield which has the same buff but on getting shot instead of when shooting. Works fine for nearly all content, plus its a very good shield as far as protection goes.

I really enjoy playing my KDF, and man is he a dilithium/contraband/R&D machine! The ship selection is kind of spotty, but the new T6 Delta Rising ships are nice, and the T5U's are pretty powerful. Give one a try and see how you like it.

Yeah, I noticed that too on my KDF alt. It used to be hauntingly silent in the zone chat of the First City, but that silence seems to have been recently filled with spam. There's still spam on the Fed-side, but it seems to have relocated to the Siruis sector block.

Maybe ESD chat was even bad enough to drive away the gold scammers!

To the OP in regards to getting a plasmonic for your get? Well there is an altnerative coming out...

With the upcoming anniversary on the 28th? 29th? Whenever...

There is a vaadwaur cruiser which will have a T5 trait that's like a better version of plasmonic. Doesn't take up a console slot, but does take up a T5 trait. That means you'll have to level the ship up to unlock it, and that you have to buy the ship (either off exchange or with 900 lobi), but it's another option to consider.

    FYI.

P.S. As to my previous comment about allowing KDF in FED fleets: It alleviates the stresses of not being able to play enough of the game to gain all the materials, not being able to gather enough like-minded players to build your fleet when every tier is beyond insane with required contributions, and how many ships, shields, weapons, kits, consoles, and end-game content is locked behind having a fully-built T5 starbase with ALL add-ons fully paid for. You just can't do that in 95% of all KDF fleets. It's worse with the current state of the game.

Well, we still don't know how the boost works so can't render a verdict as to whether it's better or not. Then again, my plasmonic leech's boost is +43 power which is way over the usual people get.

All we know is that it gives a boost and it stacks 20 times. Meaning a boost of 2.1 per stack could possibly beat your current leech. Depending on how easy it is to build and maintain stacks.

Also, that is a brutal leech you got there. =)

Oh, the way they built it, it probably builds and maintains stack as long as you keep spamming FAW every 15 seconds. Otherwise, what would be the point. Frankly, it just encourages more FAW+aux2bat spam.

except you can't do that because unlike every other weapon enhancement power out there, FAW has a global CD of 20 seconds instead of 15

*shrugs* irrelevant to me. Aux2bat is an inferior build and anyone who uses it is both bad enough at math and/or building and concerned enough about both to try and do it that they clearly need the help.

As for encouraging fire at will, well nothing will change this now until cryptic utterly nerfs the power. At least it boosts scatter volley as well. If anything, this might help diversity by convincing a few people who would otherwise go to fire at will to try cannons instead.

considering that the largest public service channel was started by a kdf fleet, it goes without saying that t5 kdf fleetgear isnt that hard to come by.
so far as mats, teaming and so on, its not that hard to do if you are in an actual kdf fleet. i think the problems that many people have kdf side stems from their origin as a fed; their friendlist of feds and their fed fleets kdf counterpart (a kdf fleet for feds' farming alts) give them a warped perspective on what it is to run kdf-side. cos i will tell you this: there is no shortage of people to team with or fleets to get gear from if you put even a little bit of effort into the kdf.

but this idea of wanting to alienate the kdf fleets even further by recruiting kdf toons into fed fleets? i dont think you will get much support from the red side.

Er...if one doesn't have provisions, they're still pretty much SOL. Although I lucked out not long ago, and someone actually gifted me the ability to buy some things.

Don't get me wrong, the base invites are a great thing, but useless without provisions- unless you want to mooch off of someone's generosity.

Or it's just plain awful. I just left a horrible fleet with no provisions (despite my millions in donations), to a storage fleet of only my alts for that reason. Circumstances happen. ;)

Apologies in advanced for bringing this back but I had a few questions about this T5 trait. I guess the main question is can this trait be used with other ships? I wouldn't mind buying the cruiser if it meant I could transfer this trait to my Vesta. Does it really work better than plasmonic leech? IS this the only ship that has this trait or is it already there for the t5-U ? Sorry, I am a bit rusty with the trait thing as it been a few months since I played.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I did check out the trait (Supremacy) . From what I can see it has some of the same attributes as plasmonic leech.

Supremacy • to self: +1 All Power Settings for 15 sec per target hit while Cannon: Scatter Volley or Beam: Fire At Will is active.

Plasmonic Leech to target: -1 All Power Settings for 15 sec per activation for 15 secs
to self: +1 All Power Settings for 15 sec per activation for 15 secs

Whether or not Supremacy steals power from the target , I still don't know but it does seem to run parallel to the Plasmonic Leech as far as increasing self power settings.

Opening a bunch of lockboxes to get the ship from the lobi store is a bit pricey but considering the prices for the console in the marketplace at least this is another option for almost the same thing.
