at 40, save the token. Instead hop on the auction house and pickup one of the mirror universe ships, or the kazon raider and try those out so you know what you like.
If you did the winter event the plesh brek is a great little ship, fast like the defiant but it gets bonus damage for shooting enemies from behind. Also it upgrades to 5u so you can stay in the same ship all the way to 60. None of the mirror ships upgrade at all, but the kazon raider can.
Hey! First of thanks everyone for the tips. It really helped! But what do I keep the token for if I get the mirror versions? I thought they were better then what I get with the tokens.
also, what is the difference in quality for bridge officers? I currently have all white human officers and 1 purple (elisa florres).
I am also thinking about dropping torpedo spread 3 for another beam ability, is that a good idea?
I'm still so confused and have soo many questions haha

I read everywhere that the raider works great with cannons but I also read that beams are better damage than cannons with FAW. Should I equip my raider with full beam arrays or dhc?

FAW works well if you have a specific build and a ships to 7 or 8 weapon slots. You'll have a lot more sucess in the Raider with Dual heavry Cannons and Turrets in back. There are build guilds i the Ship Sections of the forums. You'll find a lot of help.
Hi, just started playing, I have a question about Romulan level 10 ship. How do I get it? It was simple enough wtih fed, but I do not get a promotion mission at level 10 with Romulan. Also, is it normal that after tutorial I am level 9 already? Is it because of the double xp weekend and it just messes everything up and I should not be this level this early? On the other hand everything worked fine on fed character. Am I missing something here.

It is double exp weekend, you leveled up too fast for the story. You just need to keep playing until you get to the republic flotilla then you'll get your ship.
For romulan and kdf the first ship is not linked to level it is a part of the story.
When crafting a level 15 specialized duty officers are required. Gumarre is fine for crafting Aegis items, but to craft other items at level 15 requires a special R&D Duty Officer. How do you obtain these duty officers to craft for level 15 projects?

White quality ones are from the Academy Request RND Assistance duty officer mission. Purple ones are from the xindi lockbox. There are no greens and the only blue is Gumarre.
If the box is not in your overflow bag then you need to file a support ticket. That's the only thing I can think would block you from claiming him.
Unless... Check your missions, did you turn in that mission yet?

Post a bug thread in the bug forum, include the body of your bug report, the bug report ticket number and PWE's response.
The odds are good CrypticFrost will review it. If it is known and there is a work around, someone will help you out. I've even gotten a response from borticus (the primary coder on STO) on an early reputation bug I posted. If it is not known, the Frost will be sure to get it on the developer's radar in a realistic way. I never trust PWE personally.
I've got a question about skill points, because I've experienced something that's made me somewhat confused about how skill points are accumulated.
First things first, I take it skill points are similar to experience points in other games, and levels are called grades, and at certain grades you get a new rank (e.g. Lt. Commander at grade 10). To avoid confusing myself, I'll refer to grades as levels below.
Now to the issue:
I tried out the three career paths and got very different levels at the same points in the leveling process.
My first character, a Human Scientist, did the tutorial missions and was level 16 or 18 by the time he did the mission "Stop the Signal". I remember him flying the Science Vessel, so he must have been a Lt. Commander.
My second character, a Human Tactician, opted to skip the tutorial. He received 8 levels from doing the "pick up your stuff" intro missions that you get when you skip the tutorial. He was level 6 before leaving Earth Spacedock.
My third character, an Alien Engineer, also opted to skip the tutorial, but did not receive nearly as many skill points from the intro missions. He was level 3 when he left Earth Spacedock, and now that he's on "Stop the Signal", he's level 6.
Can anyone explain the massive difference in level-ups? Why did my Scientist have 10 levels more than my Engineer at the same point in the leveling process? Why did my Tactician get 6 levels from the intro missions while my Engineer only got 3?
I tried restarting the character a couple of times, thinking it might be a fluke, and I end up at level 3 every time when I leave Earth Spacedock on my Engineer.
Am I missing a trait or whatever it's called? Do Humans get a +100% skill points bonus?

There was a double exp event happening this weekend. It ended monday morning. That/not only increases mission awards, but enemy defeat exp.
Hi guys an old player that ordered the deluxe digital edition that is back in the game and i have a "ship" related question.
Saving up my dill to get me some Zen so i can buy a ship off the C-Store,but with the 5 year aniversary event coming soon i was wondering, should i wait and see what ship they offer?
Have the Breen raider T5-U from the Q event and although it works pretty good to be honest i HATE the way it looks, doesnt look like the Fed style im going for hehe.
So i still havent decided which will be my main,my 60 tac or my soon to be 60 engineer,in that in mind and giving the limited options i have with only the 3k's zen ill have by maybe next week i was thinking in either the Guardian Cruiser or the Phantom Escort.
To be honest im not to happy about the cloaking "thing" on the phantom...never got used to it while playing my Romulan or my new Klingon.
So i would apreciate some input and advice on which T6 ship to get, thanks in advance for all the replies.
P.S:Aside from those two ships i mentioned if you have any other in mind please let me know, ill all ears
Absolutely wait. They usually have a give a way event that so far has included tier 5 ships. Also, they sometimes have a ship sale near the anniversary. This year we are getting a kobali cruiser but we don't know the specs yet and we don't know if last year's dyson destroyers will be available again or not (I personally doubt they will). Thereis apparently also a vaadwar lockbox coming next. Finally, the new command specialization means new ships with command bridge officer spots.
Buying something right now is just asking for buyer's remorse.
As for what kind of ship to get, the more important information is how do you like to play, not what class of captain you are. All captains can fly all ships, but not all ships give you the experience you want in combat. Do you like to just pew pew all the things, use funky powers and feel like a space wizard, be indestructible, do fast hit and run, something else?
At t6 specifically some good fed options are the hazari destroyer and the eclipse. You should also give the plesh brek a try if you picked it up over winter. It is an amazing ship that gets +30% damage for shooting things in the rear. It is 5u but still fun. It is a raider class, so less HP and more speed than an escort but that bonus damage in return.
The hazari ship is bought with lobi or on the auction house. It is a tougher ship than an escort being a destroyer class, but a touch slower. Has all the firepower and front-facing cannons. Plus one intelligence station. Excellent ship. The green chelgrett is another strong option at 5u.
With the eclipse you want to be sure you have at least one and possibly two Intel officers. You absolutely want surgical strikes, and once the new training comes out get mark 3. You also want the highest override safety systems you can get, again aim for 3. Cloak buff up, decloak, hit phaser lance, hit the -resistance expose, hit ss3 and boom. It is a thing of beauty.
In addition to cannons, if you have the energy credits there is also the "omni beam" build which let's you fly almost anything. This is putting one 360-degree "omni" beam array, the ancient obelisk beam array, and the Borg cutting beam in back, then loading up the front with dual beam banks. Now you have a beam ship that fires all guns front. It works best with antiproton's. Just something to think about to open up your options.
To get that "tanky" feeling, even in escorts, look at the Borg engines and deflector from omega reputation. Its a classic staple of top builds forever because you get a huge hull heal from it. Do not do the shields, they are very low capacity. The maco shield or elite fleet are the common options, I also like the reman for the largest shield HP pool in the game and that sleek black look. Get reverse shield polarity as an engineering power and two copies of emergency power to shields, and from science hazard emitters. You'll survive anything in pve.
For contraband, I don't know any good guides but here's how to do it.
First, always do the strike against fugitive network. Take blue prisoners to ds9 and swap with dominion for jem Haddad. This gives contraband too and the jemmy are great at marauding.
Second avoid vulcans (freighters, stations and colonies) they almost never have contraband.
See a ferengi, rob the ferengi. They have the most contraband.
Then trade stations and freighters are your prime targets. Farming colonies and starfleet targets have more ec and prisoners but less contraband.
As you get prisoners, on qonos, do the "sell prisoners to orion slavers" this gives platinum. Near ds9 keep an eye out for "trade platinum for contraband". Be sure not to do the reverse by mistake. Also do all four e_plore cluster chains near qonos, and look for the forced labor camps. This have double the dil and half the fail chance compared to the prisoner turn in at first city. Also the explore chain gives blue and purple security and assault officers for marauding crits.
Thanks again buddy for taking the time to answer my questions, ever in Spain the first pitcher of "Sangria" is on me
About the ships, well im pretty low on funds at the moment, been leveling a KDF so dont think i can afford a T6 off the exchange hehe.
Will save my Zen then and wait to see what ship we get from the 5 year aniversary event and then ill make a decision, but from the time ive been playing my KDF tactical character i got to say i love the gameplay compared to science or engineer so i will definetely get an escort.
common misperception/assumption. Putting a Tactical in escort, engineer in cruiser or sci in sci is almost never the "best" option. There's a lot of synergy from mixing it up. In your case for feds I think it works fine, but definitely keep an eye out for the right cruiser. If they do a t6 cruiser with stats like the avenger I think you'd have a blast in it.
1- Is it just me or the Klingons a bit OP?
I mean i come out of stealth and hit them with cannons/torp skills and WOW oh WOW!!!
I dont remember hitting that hard with my Fed escort/tactical combo hehe
actually they are famously underpowered. I suspect, since you mentioned cannons, that on your fed you start your attacks from 10k range. But on your kdf that's when you decloak, and you need a second before the guns start blazing so you're closer in. See cannons get a huge damage penalty at long range. If you fire from 2k you're doing almost 75% more than at 10k, but anything closer than 5k is good.
Also, check out nausicaan bridge officers. They have a trait called pirate that gives a nice damage buff. Romulan get the best damage in the game, but you can do OK with fed and kdf.
2-While doing some KDF missions i noticed several ship in red (like enemies) i hovered over them but i couldnt fire upon them.
I know its a noobie question but why are they red and most important what must i do?
Was thinking maybe they were there to give me some missions but i opened my assignment window and nothing new appeared,am i missing something?
Thanks again for your patience
Need to know which mission and what NPCs before I can answer that one.
Well it does say Monday both in the Arc launcher and in the website, might be because the time difference with Spain that for me it will be Tuesday and not Monday how it states in the website and game launcher...
That's the giveaway not the anniversary event itself.
Ah OK my bad then,I read it wrong.
So I need to login today (Monday) to get from the C-store whatever they are giving away but the event itself will happen tomorrow after the weekly maintenance right?
As mentioned in the Subject, My Sci Intelligence Specialist BO with full chosen skills is unable or not allowed into the Cmdr. Sci Bridge Officer slot.
Why?
Talaxian Male ground skills are available but not the Space Skills - on a T6 Intrepid Class Science (Voyager) ship I bought from the C-Store.
I honestly don't understand why?
Are the NEW class ships that came out with Delta Rising the only ships that are allowed Intel Specialists - I would believe all T6 class ships (and remember, the Voyager and Dauntless ships that came out and other T6 Ships) have the natural access for all Intel Specialists?
I have the Scryer Sci ship - this ship DOES allow a Intel Sci officer space abilites - and ground.
Do I have to find, buy, get some 'other' intel officer that will go in the Cmdr. Sci Intrepid Ship slot? If so, what species Intel Officer and where do I get this officer?
If this is a bug of some kind, please be so kind as to move this post to where I can get help or this issue fixed.
Please advise and - Thanks again for any help/understanding.

For starters there is no t6 intrepid, but I assume that you mean the pathfinder. The pathfinder does not have a hybrid science/Intel bridge officer seat, it has an engineer/Intel seat. If your intelligence officer is a scientist as you said, then this is the problem.
The scryer has both tactical/Intel and science/intel seats, so on that ship your science officer would be able to use the science/Intel seat but not the tactical/Intel one.
You can get engineer/Intel officers from a vendor on earth spacedock right next to the bridge officer trainer. They cost 240 dil each so are quite cheap. Starting when the new training system goes live (possibly this Thursday) you can train any engineer you already have to be an Intel specialist and/or a command specialist. Yes you can have one officer who is both at the same time.
The only sci ship I know that can fit DHCs is the Vesta line, and they come with their own aux DHcs. It is T5 and can be upgraded to T5-U. It does hold it's own still and you can run full aux to boost both weapon damage and your ci skills.
I know nothing about the Pathfinder as I didn't like the look of it, someone with more knowledge of it can answer your question.
I've been looking at the wiki page of the Hazari destroyer and I must say its a fine looking ship.
Now since I can't buy it for Zen and my funds are quite low (cheapest hazari is 80 million) is there any way to use my 3ks zen to purchase "something" off the Zen shop then sell it on exchange and that way get the 80 million I need to buy the destroyer?
The only downside of not getting a ship off the Zen store is that it won't be account wide...
Keys sell for ~2.1-2.8 million ec each. There's a key sale right now so you can buy 3 packs of 10 for less than your 3k. If you hold them until the prices go back up, that would be ~ 75 million ec.
However, remember we still haven't seen all the info I suggested you wait for. The new lockbox isn't announced yet and that will have a minimum of 3 ships (one in the box, one lobi, and one to replace the kazon raider). Nor have we seen the new command ships (assume minimum of 3 for feds) nor have we seen what the last giveawaay item is, traditionally that's the tier5 ship.
So, I do recommend sticking with the original plan and holding on to your zen for now.
Hi, I searched everywhere for this but can't see any info.
Can you still pay for monthly subscriptions? If so what do you get for them?
Thanks
Yes you can, there are several options, monthly, quarterly, and yearly. The longer ones are cheaper.
You get an account bank, extra boff slots at your promotions (anyone already max level does NOT get these retroactively), extra bank slots, extra inventory slots, extra ship slots at some promotions(again, you don't get them retroactively), free costume changes and ship rename tokens, an increased maximum ec limit, and 500 zen per month. The longer you stay subscribed the more veteran awards you receive as well.
Most of these you keep permanently even if your subscription ends, so it is often a good idea to subscribe for one month and quickly level one character (or however many you can/want to) to 50 to get the bonuses, then let the subscription end and use the 500 zen to buy the ec cap increase permanently.
Roger that,it took me so long to get the 3ks worth of Zen a week or two more wont mean that much hehe, thanks again for the response bud
Work on your reputations. Each daily project is 340 dil, then when you hit tier 5 you get 32,000 dil. All total, each reputation you max out gives 45,600 dilithium. You get 6,000 less if you use a commendation to boost rep on second characters, but that's still totally worth it. Omega reputation gives less dilithium but gives some special items instead.
Also, try the dyson battle zone, you can earn heaps of dilithium there.

Many thanks gavinruneblade.
I played the game for a year as a subscriber when it first came out, so I have 400 day veteran status and a few other unlocks. I'll have to work out whether the subscription is worth it given this.

Also the explore chain gives blue and purple security and assault officers for marauding crits.
actually they are famously underpowered.
Need to know which mission and what NPCs before I can answer that one.

That's the giveaway not the anniversary event itself.

Thank you for taking the time to read this issue:

I know nothing about the Pathfinder as I didn't like the look of it, someone with more knowledge of it can answer your question.
Much obliged for the info!
