was wondering for those that use pads to fly their ships. has/is any one using a hotas?

finally got mine for ED and been sorting the key binds, but was thinking that would be nice to use in space combat.

Oddly enough, while I have a stick, I do not use it to play this, I use a Saitek Pro Gamer Command Unit, which I found a few years ago at a Goodwill for $5.00. Works perfectly, and fits nicely on my leg while I play.

Yeah it works well, if you have Windows 8 (like me) just use the MadCatz program for it to bind your keys. Of course if you are using Win7 or earlier, use the Total Game Control program instead, it is easier and does much more, sadly though it does not work with Windows 8.

This game is not terribly friendly to stick-flying, primarily due to the limited Z-axis. I've found keyboard/mouse controls to be way more than sufficient, and they have the added bonus of allowing me to look around (effectively, before any hat-switch users chime in) independent of my flight controls.

That's where my Saitek is handy, moves whatever keys I want to one smallish area. Like Sulu, and Data I fly by key, LOL.
