This makes me sad. Come on Cryptic, do you really want to chase away your players? Seriously, I'm trying to understand why you guys would want to nerf everything.
But truth is, I honestly have no idea what you guys are doing, or why you're doing it.
First you remove entire parts of the game. Then you add time gates and huge costs to everything. You make everything more difficult. Rewards are still lower than they used to be, while the missions are harder.
You add a massive XP-grind. You want to decide what missions people play. A large part of the stuff you've added doesn't even work anymore (Uniforms, optionals accolades (with the optionals being more difficult to get than before, yet no unlock of uniforms), several specialisation points) and yet you just decide to add more stuff, more spec points, without fixing the already released stuff first.
You offer no satisfying explanation for this behaviour, instead you try to distract people from these issues by giving them some free stuff. While free stuff is nice, it doesn't solve the problems.
I would want to say a positive word, but I can't think of anything positive to say. I'm sorry for saying so, but this is simply pathetic. You guys should be ashamed that, after all the things you've done to make everything harder, less rewarding and less fun, you would even think of nerfing stuff further.
Ya know, reading through this thread, what amazes me most is not one, NOT ONE, defender of this action of any kind. Whether the full-on fanboys or the how sometimes while you may not agree with a decision you can see why it was made, but this time not even the whitest of white knights supporting this. Ya know they've really screwed up when....
Guys, come on. The developers have feelings. You're hurting them guys. C'mon. Have a heart.
Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it. - Bubba
why not remove adv and elite completely? they are already undoable, and they become even harder?!
do you really want this game to DIE because noone can play anything anymore?
do you want everybody go normal only, so the rewards are lower? just remove adv and elite then?! or just remove dili rewards from the game at all, why not.
im going back to wow now. this is to stupid.
As a member of the DPS channels, that made my day. Undo-able LOL.
We want harder content with increased rewards. Thank you.
EDIT: When I say harder, please dont misinterpret it with more hull/ shields. Or more dmg from the npcs.
Thats a non thinking "easy" way to increase difficulty. And the timer gets on everyones nerves as well.
Next difficulty should be names [DPS]

You'll get harder content with decreased rewards and like it.

Until Cryptic starts listening, maybe the DPSers need to stop tooting their own horns. Every time you get one of those obnoxious videos, it just lets Cryptic know it's time to nerf and ruin it for the majority. I cringe every time I see a brag video. Put the community first. Show them by lack of bragging and lack of enthusiasm that you are not cool with this behavior either. Now that the rewards nerf has hurt you too, will you consider a change in your behavior until Cryptic changes theirs?
Remember.
Every time you post a DPS boast, PWE kills a "queue"te little kitten.

You'll get harder content with decreased rewards and like it.
Also - if you get too good - mission NPCs (hostile and friendly) will be buffed and/or nerfed as necessary until queues are no longer being completed at a higher rate than expected.
Creating new - challenging - harder content is not going to happen.
But don't worry - it's an ongoing effort.
Unfortunately, the ongoing effort requires more numbers people, instead of more content designers.

Are you asking that people in DPS stop being good? The sole purpose of those channels is to improve ourselves. How about joining us?
And the one posting videos is Ryan. You know his @. QQ him.
The channels aren't always that good for getting help. I've seen fleet mates ask in there and get ignored half the time. Although she did say porchsong?!? was quite helpful on something once.

No, I am asking you to tone down the boasting so that PWE doesn't get ideas what to nerf for everyone else, and they get proof that your behavior has changed and you are not cool with what they are doing.

Racist sigs? Ain't nobody got time for that.
Also, uber DPS people being PROUD of being GOOD at STAR TREK ONLINE
I really wouldn't even know where to begin making fun of all that.

I've seen helpful replies there a lot. Unless you mean DPS-public which is empty.. There is a max 15 channels problem.. Got to remove what we can. Though the admins check it and will help.
10k dps is something that any ship can do without having to spend a lot.
Also porch is really helpful for advice as well as the rest of the admins over there. I'm not an admin so thats not why I'm saying good things about their channels. I'm someone who got helped enough to be able to beat most elite missions with a mediocore team. With a good team, everything is do-able :P
"As a member of the DPS channels, that made my day. Undo-able LOL.

just go ELITE maybe and let others have their easy advanced missions? you know there is a harder version (some not currently de to rework)
we dont have three versions, so that just EVERY one is just hard enough for your kind.
Of course I'm a troll my original reply was obviously a troll one. But people seem to forget its a game and a game is all about having fun. Don't like it? You find a better one. Want to improve yourself in playing it? You ask for help.
By the way for the record I do not think the DPS'ers have acted maliciously even though the boasting annoys me. They could be cool guys if I met them IRL. So this is in NO way to be construed as a personal slur. We all take actions from time to time that do not have the consequences we intended. That's the situation I think has occurred here.
I simply think they need to look at how Cryptic appears to be interpreting their behavior and how Cryptic's reactions then affect the rest of the community. And then, if they too are unhappy with where things are going, modify their behavior such as to a) avoid giving Cryptic destructive ideas and b) show their displeasure with the nerfs and the other poor design decisions, which will hopefully begin over time to prevent a).

Wouldn't the best place to complain about this be Reddit and Twitter? I mean, those are the only 2 places where the Devs read comments and feedback with any regularity.
Cryptic, I just don't understand. For months the players have been begging you guys to buff exp, rewards for advanced queues, and cut out the 'autofails.'
And instead you make it harder and reward less. This just seems like malicious trolling of the playerbase.
Imagine the staff meeting that included this discussion.
Some PWE guy comes in and says the queues are doin' too well. Gotta get that failure rate up, guys. So what do you do? Do you actually discuss and debate what percentage of failed queues you want? How do you even have that discussion?
And then the very predictable result occurs, very predictable forum posts occur, and you can't go tell that PWE guy you told him so. You've got five kids to feed. But then Mr. PWE man comes back at the next meeting, and tells you the failure rate's still too low.
That's got to be a demoralizing day at the office, is all I'm saying.
This is like one of the worst possible things they could have done at this point in time. It's like they're purposely trying to alienate and/or TRIBBLE off the players.
I mean do they have an actual death wish for the game?
Here is Advanced. Advanced is not supposed to be as easy as Normal. If Advanced was supposed to be as easy as Normal then it would not be Advanced, it would be Normal.
Here is Elite. Elite is not supposed to be as easy as Advanced. Elite is not supposed to be as easy as Normal. If Elite was supposed to be as easy as Advanced then it would not be Elite, it would be Advanced. If Elite was supposed to be as easy as Normal then it would not be Elite, it would be Normal.
Here is Normal.
Here is Advanced. You need to do more for Advanced than Normal, and so you earn more rewards for doing Advanced than doing Normal. If you did not need to do more for Advanced than Normal, then you would earn rewards as if you were doing Normal and not Advanced.

But you want the rewards from Advanced or Elite while only playing at a Normal level? Or you want the rewards from Elite while only playing at an Advanced level?
How about asking for help from folks on how you can move from playing at a Normal level to an Advanced level if you want to earn Advanced rewards instead of Normal rewards?

There are all sorts of helpful folks out there. As toxic as this community may appear at times, there are all sorts of folks that volunteer their time and efforts to try to help their fellow players get better at the game. They're not paid by Cryptic to do that. They're not Cryptic Guides or anything like that. They're just fellow players that may have been helped by somebody and wanted to return the favor to somebody else down the road. Maybe they're just helpful by nature. Skill guides, ship build guides, gearing up guides, instance guides, all sorts of things folks try to help their fellows with..all sorts of stuff.
In the end for most folks, imho, the only thing holding them back is themselves.
Comments
I'd second this feedback.
Also
1 VR Crafting Mat Normal
2 VR Crafting Mat Advanced
3 VR Crafting Mat Elite.
That is all.
I'll stay in normal unless someone ASKS me to run Advanced, they can buff Advanced and Elite all they want.
Worth pointing out - this proposed solution still sacrifices both DILITHIUM and blue/purple equipment drops from pre-DR.
Yes I know Normal never dropped BNPs - but Mk X and XI versions of the equipment were available that didn't require them IIRC.
But truth is, I honestly have no idea what you guys are doing, or why you're doing it.
