It struck me last night that we've got all manner of threads on here berating other players for not being good enough and complaining about all the epic fails we've suffered through.
But there's not really anywhere where people talk about their best and most epic times in the PVE queues.
I mean we've all had miserable failures yes, but how's about some more positive stories about how you pulled an STF back from the jaws of death or how your ship (and crew) performed above and beyond what you'd expect of it.

I'll start us off.

Today was in ANR (normal on account of not being able to start the queue for advanced...too dead).
So we've got a Scimitar, JHDC, Faeht Intel Warbird and something I think was a KDF raptor of some sort. I was in a Pathfinder.

We shoot off and get our 3 first ships freed in less than half the time required to beat the clock.

Then I got about following this intel warbird and think i'm going to help him with some CC action so he can sneak in to get the beams off.
Turn out a combination of GW3 + TS2 with grav torps was way too much damage and I literally wiped the floor at each spawn before he even go a shot off. He must have been going nuts...
Then I end up with the Scimitar following me, he tries to sneak in to get a decloak alpha-strike on the Tholians but each time my opening attack wiped out the NPC's in seconds before he was even decloaked fully.

In short, it felt truly epic that neither of these two ships could get a shot off because the Fed in the little sci vessel was wiping everything out before they could blink. Still everyone was civil about the match (nice to see in a pug for once).

I 3-manned ISA (because one guy sat at the spawn and refused to help unless we paid him 18 million EC and one guy sat there yelling at him for the entire mission) in a Faeht, no fleet or rep gear.

I ended up aggroing the tac cube, PMing the other two guys to stay back, and (since I'd seen the dirtbag in chat saying that he was going to go get some chips and laugh at us failing without his leetness) pulled it right on top of his ship as the yelling guy called me seven kinds of scumbag and ran.

Then my health dropped below 25%, my trait activated, and I blasted off to cloak just outside of the cube's range.

Never seen a Recluse blow up so fast in my life.

Then me and the other two competent guys ran back in and finished off the tac cube before the ranting guy could even fire a shot. He got no rewards from the mission and screamed at me about it.

The leecher came back a few seconds before the leave map timer ran out and yelled something about where was his loot and why was he dead.

    Best. Run. Ever.

Khitomer Vortex advanced a couple of weeks back, I managed to hold my side of the map single handed virtually, no probes got past me in a series of running battles to hold back the probes.

Not bad for a Breen Carrier with grav wells and my elite scorpion and elite tholian widows did a wonderful job

There was this time, once back when ISA was ISE...where when pugging with my Eng tank/healer in a Marauder that would parse around 5-6k...somebody actually did more damage. That was pretty epic. Cause, I had this goofy expectation that everybody should have outparsed him...but it never happened. Then it did...well, one guy. It was pretty damn epic.

One day, about 3 weeks ago, I decided to grab 4 friends from my fleet chat, and give Hive Space Elite a run, for old time's sake.

(I have this great friend, not a leet dps'er, barely does 10k, but we loved HSE pre-dr. I was also a lot lower dps back then, barely hitting 20k on a good day - recruiting from fleet chat, it was not a breeze, and kinda fun).

So, we all hopped in Teamspeak, did that whole calling targets, TF/IF coordination, etc deal. Keep in mind, it's hive elite, and I was the only one in the group who had even tried this post-DR, and that run... didn't go well.

So, MFW just before 1 minute left on the timer we popped the last tac cube...

That was the most epic 12 minutes I've ever spent in STO.

This was in ISE, back when there was an ISE. Five random people from a certain channel, warp in and three of us are in JHDCs.

Just the visual of three huge carriers making a banking turn to the left, in perfect line formation, firing beam broadsides into a Borg cube.

I've had some epic moments, most from fighting in Ker'rat.

      Not epic, but laughable:

Tonight I was in an Azure Advanced PUG. I was playing my usual TBR build. This irritated a teammate enough to say in chat "rule number one, do not TBR my targets". I made a point of TBRing this individual's targets just one extra time.

Next time I'll probably follow this person around with my TBR.

Tau Dewa Dailies. A long time ago. Just after LoR release. As a team with some Fleeties. One Adv. Nebby (USS Magic Bus - I cannot remember that name without smiling). Me in a brand new Vesta, which I had no clues about how to set up or use, Bought it because it looked nice. And three others. Just before we click Engage over Japori one of the others says, "Wait. BRB." and his ship fades out. He comes back in a Delta Flyer. "Always wanted to try this.", he says. "Cool!", says the next. So he switches to his Delta Flyer as well. "Three dumba$$es are better than two.", says the last. And one more Delta Flyer appears.

I know the content scales to player and equipment. But for the next half hour, we had a nerve-wrackingly funny good time. I was sorry afterwards I did not have Bandicam recording the whole thing. It was special. It was TRIBBLE. And we never, ever let those three do anything like that again. But we did something which is far too uncommon these days in STO. We had fun playing the game. I would not trade this experience for a billion Dilithium. I wouldn't repeat it. I certainly do not recommend it as a standard way to play. But it is one of my favorite STO stories and one I'll remember long after the servers shut down.

Okay, this made me laugh. Seriously.

Seriously? Someone tried to charge 18 mil to help out a PUG? S/he deserved getting a tac cube dragged on top of them.

And the other one, complaining about no goodies? No help, no goodies, plain and simple. Calling you a scumbag? They were both scumbags for leeching.

      I say Good Show, man!

I haven't done anything too noteworthy like that, but I've enjoyed reading about everyone else's.

Had a pretty solid Infected Space Advanced run earlier this month with my T5-U Fleet Nebula, doing my usual crowd control role, but didn't realize just how well....

That's the 1st time I've managed to crack 10k dps on this 'Battle Pancake' of mine...pretty good, considering it's not tuned for dps at -all-, and I'm a pretty casual player!

Was a quick run and none of the probes got anywhere near their goal...feels nice when I manage to keep them all bunched up like fish in a barrel....

Oh, I once soloed ISN in a Duntless.

        What? It was a Duntless!

Then there was the time I took 2 fleeties who were new through old KAGN for the boff. Two pugs, one of whom was an idiot and one of whom was very thankful that I kept the newbies on a leash. Well worth it. We didn't make good time and barely got optional despite my full KHG and adapted KHG sets and all that, but it was damn fun anyway. And I got warm fuzzy feels for helping out some newbies.

Our fleet used to run 20 man queues a lot before DR, they were a blast but especially "Mine Trap"
Was a lot fun, playing with 19 other fleetmates. You felt like you accomplished something.
        Was a great team experience.

Post DR its a lot tougher to get 20 fleetmates together.. they're just not on like they used to be, and no one wants to wait in a dead queue.

I think it would come down to two STF's for myself, The first being when a friend and fellow fleet member talked me into two manning KAGE. I thought we would end up getting our backsides handed to us. I wasn't surprised, but more astonished when not only did we complete it, but also managed to get the optional.

The second one was a full five man fleet team run through IGE, not only did we get the optional, but we got it with 9:27 left on the optional timer.

But there is another that sticks out, but I don't know how to class it. Comes from a pug IGE with some one rushing the rooms, the team managed to save him a the first couple of times, but everyone got fed up and he ended up getting assimilated. But the Assimilation bugged so he didn't die. So the four us proceeded to continue the rest of the mission with the assimilated pug in tow. When it came to the final boss room, two engineers blocked the door way with cover shields (for when the borg one dropped) and we all just let the leave map timer time out, occasionally refreshing the cover shields. At which point the assimilated guy has a complete melt down because not only does he not get any rewards, but also ends up with an AFT penalty.
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

Wow - this 'Duntless' must be REALLY OP! Must get one! :D

It's worse than useless. Can't tank, can't science, can't DPS. It doesn't have the turn rate or resilience to be a scidestroyer but doesn't have enough anything to be anything else.

At least the Scryer can function as a science vessel and has a cloaking device that can be useful in some situations. The Duntless can't even hold a decent build.

Doesn't have the sci boff slots to do a decent sci build or the tac console slots to make DPS an option. If it were LTC tac-Ens tac-LTC eng-Com sci-LTC sci with a 4-2-4 console layout and a point or two more turn rate it might be workable. Scratch that, if it were the DSD it'd be workable. But as-is it's the master of zilch. It's not even a decent sci ship since it only has Com/LT sci, and it doesn't have the tac consoles to support its tac boff slots.

2 guys sat at spawn and 2 others followed me around with under 1500dps. I won the advanced stf with 98% of the kills.

On a run with my sci I used tractor repulse with tractor beam doff. I dragged npcs to entity where I dropped gravity well. Warp core breach spam did massive damage to entity. I dropped another gravity well after the energy bust to capture new tholian spawn for a second fast damage burst. Second energy burst came and entity was at 10%. It was a very fast run.

This was a couple years ago when CGE was a thing. I joined a PUG group because I had nothing better to do. Everyone's heard stories about why PUGS are bad, but this time, I was in a group of certified borg destroyers.

These people rampaged through the map wiping out everything that stood in their way. We got the optional "kill all the turrets before time runs out" objective. Armak literally had no idea what hit him, they piled on him dropping mines and bombs and batleth's, he went down so fast I don't really know what they did to him.

        But it wasn't pretty.

The best PUG STF I ever participated in.

I have played this game for a long time and pre DR i never really worried about DPS i did about 10k at the peak if that and seemed to run fine and able to do any stf. DR came around and it took a lot longer to kill anything and my setup couldn't handle it anymore. I ended getting the phantom escort after much deliberation. It took me months to rebuild my ship and fine tune it from the ground up and turn my ship into a monster. Which leads me into a great STF moment where i realized in KASA i could solo the entire side including probes. I remember before when I can barely take on a cube solo, it took all my cool downs and I barely made i through.

So trying to get away from the whole dilithium nerf affair I went into a Tau Dewa red alert.

Figured it would be fun in my Pathfinder and was pleased to see a couple of other guys in there with me, one in a Gal-X and one in a Scimitar.

Cleared out the first group of minor NPC's pretty well, but by the time the last one went down we'd gone too close to the Tarantula's so now pretty much the entire map was after us.

I spin round to out flank them all, drop science team for +tve feedback loop, APA, TT and GW3 their asses, closely followed by TS2 with grav torps. A few seconds later my tyken's rift comes off cooldown thanks to a lucky proc on a deflector doff and i throw that in there too.
Now the gods must have been shining on me or something because i literally got a chain of about 4 or 5 projectile CD's at their minimum so i was spitting out grav and particle emission torps constantly nearly.
Plus the grav wells spawn 3 extra wells and by now had hoovered up over 20 ships, including both Tarantulas.
Scimitar is also spitting out chains of hyper-plasma torps so the plasma fire in there was enormous.

What followed was a MASSIVE warp core chain explosion that killed off probably 20-30 ships in seconds, I've never seen such a massive explosion in STO.

Don't think any of us believed what had happened.

After that we struggled to find any Tholians left, there were only 2-3 ships left at the far side of the map.
