Lower cap in academy for the 5th anni

marcel314marcel314 Member Posts: 181 Arc User
The 5th anni is soon here and the memories of the q mini games from the last annies are slowly returnung to me.
Please, lower the cap or give us a less painful way to grind for the anni ship. I would even do the boring argala than finding q's inside of presents.

One can only hope. But we must prepare ourselves.

For the Grindiversary will be upon us soon... *lightning strike and evil Q laughter*

Would be less painful if we could kill everybody else on the map. ;)

Wouldn't it be better (if a litttle futile) to hope for no minigame at all ? Just a fancy mission, like way back ? :o

It won't be worth it. It wasn't worth it before. Now? You're getting a Kobali ship. Seriously disappointing. What's worse? You have to grind harder than ever to get it. As if this game isn't a thousand times too grindy?

Boycott it. Don't feed their "metrics" (the only thing Cryptic's lead dev believes in anymore) by participating.

I'll play by their rules this Anniversary if the worst we have to do is another solo racing mini-game like this year's Winter Event.

Short, simple, and fast enough to do across multiple alts (even if they'll never make it to the levels necessary to use them), and guaranteed grind item drops.

If not, then I'll just wait until Vaadwaur stuff hits the exchange and buy them and be done. Or spend money on whatever new Command ships come out in the C-Store.

Different people feel differently about different things...and I see no reason to boycott. Others may choose not to participate...but that's no different than anything else. Different folks and all that...

Hope leads to disappointment. Expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised if it's not that bad! :D

No, no, the anniversary event was the idiotic "chase the mini-Qs around and get a 1-in-3 chance of getting something, then repeat X times until you have 15 "rewards" to finish one day's grind."

Or something like that. Going from memory.

Judging by the death of the game, the state of the forums and the rampant fanboi-ist goings-on of the forums since the major crackdown and several smaller crackdowns driving players away in droves....

"Most" players will choose not to participate. They have already left. it IS different than anything else.

I hardly think that in the current state of the game's health (or lack thereof) that it is in dire need of one of the worst, most decried, grindy, annoying, worthless daily missions EVAR, to be returned for a ship that nobody has interest in as the anniversary reward.

Even when the game was alive, nobody liked the anniversary grind. It was tedious and horrible and many simply ignored it and just never bothered with the anniversary ship offered at the time. To run it now is simply another whip on the already-dead-horse of the game. NOW would be the perfect time to send Cryptic a message that the playerbase is not having any more of this nonsense -- via the only thing they care about: their participation statistics -- and boycott it entirely.

Then TRIBBLE that. I'll just wait for the Lockbox/Lobi ships and equipment to appear and buy those. And/or C-Store Command ships.

I've had enough with chasing even half-mobile things like epohhs (esp. when they decide to run while you're tagging them), so I flat out refuse to participate in what's effectively an even worse version of it.

What I said was much simpler than that...

I'm not disappointed by it being a Kobali ship. A Vaadwaur ship from a splinter group would have been nifty, but it being a Kobali ship isn't a disappointment.

I don't find the box shuffle to be arduous. Can be a little frustrating at times because of other players if there isn't a low population instance available (it has that pesky issue along the lines of the ice races where somebody can snag the shuffle that you think you're about to start). But it's not some arduous matter by any means.

Some people are a little more melodramatic though...so uh, yeah, different folks and stuff.

Some people are defenders and White Knights... so....

Your comments twist things and spin them.

I never said it was "arduous" taking lots of work. I said it was a GRIND. It was TEDIOUS. It was BORING, it was MIND NUMBINGLY ANNOYING, and that at this state of the game's death it is the LAST thing the game needs and will sow only more discontent and unrest in the remaining fraction of the playerbase.

There, hopefully you can't deny that away, or spin it in some other way. I hope that's clear and concrete enough to not be misconstrued (purposefully or not).

Some people that make stupid comments tend to call folks that point that out...defenders and White Knights...

Never said you did say it was arduous. This isn't the only thread that's discussed matters.

    Except...

What is there to deny? I said different people feel differently about things. I stated how I felt. You stated how you felt.

What exactly are you even trying to argue? Sure, you're trying to speak for folks other than yourself...sure, you think the folks on the forums make up some huge amount of the playerbase...but that just goes back to the first thing I said up there.

Regarding the bolded part: denied. You can boycott it all you want, but guess what? I won't boycott it.

It was tedious, eh? 5 minute mission was too tedious for you? Okay.. I guess you're right, I should do whatever you say... (by the way, this last part, it's called sarcasm).

I personally find it much easier to do than the race, by far--I refuse to do racing games. Q's game, with sufficient attention paid and smart camera positioning (and smart choice of where on the Academy grounds to play), will give you a higher success rate than 1 out of 3 by far. I found I was knocking it off very quickly each day per toon.

The only fault I have with its design, though it does not affect me, is that it is not color-blind friendly in its previous iterations. Some sort of pattern or distinguishing ribbon needs to be put on each box. "Blue bow," "Green polka dots," "red stripes" should solve the problem.

Honestly, what angered me in last year's event was the EVA portion of "Step Between the Stars". HATE HATE HATE.

Cause yeah, basically there tends to be the two groups, imho.

"I have/don't have a sandwich. Tom does/doesn't either. Jerry too. That means everybody has/nobody has a sandwich."

"I have/don't have a sandwich. Tom doesn't/does have one though. Different people have different things."

How do you like your sandwich i like mines with lettuce tomato and Cheese :D. Turkey :):D

Heh, that definitely would not be my kind of sandwich. Lol, I couldn't even eat it. But odds are you're not the only one that likes a sandwich like that and I'm not the only one that doesn't.

Course, now I want a ham, swiss, and bacon on a lightly toasted and pressed croissant.

Oh well, I'll just have a bowl of the Special K Red Berries that the girlfriend picked up. Heh, she'll complain later that I ate all her cereal.

Heh, I loved that EVA... and hated the Q shell game enough to opt out and never once regretted it. Likely won't regret it this year either, if they pull the same old grind.

Now, a new grind, I might tolerate. Especially if I can use some of the Qmendations I never spent to lighten the grind level a bit. A bit of novelty and less annoyance factor would go a long way.

But as Virusdancer says, I'm better off expecting the worst and taking the risk of being pleasantly surprised. If their metrics remotely indicated that the Anniversary grind was successful by their lights, I don't expect anything different this year.

They obviously have the technology to do space races, so I really hope we get some space alternatives to the Winter and Summer "fly/slide around the terrible ground game so you can get a fancy new ship to use in the fun space game" events.

I'd also love to see a space alternative to the "Grindiversary", but that would be less easily adapted, I think, than the reuse and adjustment of the "Antarian rans-stellar Rally Qualification" map/assets.

Personally, I didn't mind the Q mini game (I didn't like it, but I didn't hate it either). I also liked the EVA part of a step between stars, but the one part of the mission I didn't like was flying the DSD. That ship that they gave you was so poorly loaded out that I almost pulled my hair out a couple times. It didn't help that there was a bug where the Romulan flagship would cloak and completely disappear, never to be seen again.

Burgers...mmm...for me that would be one of two preferences:

Very well done angus patty with shredded asiago on a pressed cuban.
    Very well done patty...battered.

Though, my choice for a hot sandwich would lean more toward dry rub shredded pork on a corn dusted roll. Er, with seasoned curly fries and a blackberry shake.
Sounds tasty. It also sounds like it could use some pepper, but hey. :D I like spicy food more than most people.

    I'd do the grind.

Why? I'm not an altoholic with 70 billion alts that all HAVE to be on top of their game, and there's very few T6 ships available.

I only foresee myself having 3 T6 ships: the free Sarr Theln, the anniversary ship, and the Dauntless, not counting any other free t6 that come out.

Will I fly the Kobali ship after getting the tier 5 trait? hell no, ****'s ugly. But an extra ship trait is better than not having it.

TL;DR - I'll do the grind just for the ship trait, and cuz T6 ships are kinda cash-only right now (either through lockboxes or Zen).
