This needs to change next year. No more of this public queue'd race TRIBBLE. It's such a ridiculous idea.
Why not have a system similar to the floater race? No queues, just hit each checkpoint along the track and beat the timer. There's really no point to having a race opponent.
Same here. If I see a big queue I pop to a low player zone and race there. If I get to the coordinator and somebody deliberately tries to queue jump me then I disqualify them. If I get to a queue and somebody else is there already I wait until they go before signaling.

Some folks actually lose to the opponent. There's always that flurry of threads, that hail of posts, an avalanche of discussion, with each running of the Winter Event of folks complaining about the race's difficulty.
Sometimes you can hit up a lower pop zone...sometimes you can't. As I mentioned in the other thread, the lowest pop thread during that particular attempt was 23 folks. Needless to say, yeah - it wasn't until after the fourth fail at the coordinator that I got to sleep through the actual race.
Would be nifty if they did some sort of microqueue/ticketing system sort of thing...something that simply tracked when each player would go. It's futile trying to depend on the players to proceed in any sort of orderly fashion.

Sounds like swatting flies with a baseball bat to me. There's no reason to care about what order people go in, much less do significant systems work implementing it. Much easier to just fix the disqualifying bug and let people mash F like the first year.
Or if even that is too hard (they did already have a year to fix it), just let people run at the same time. It seems to work just fine when the bug hits you halfway (no teleport, but no root either), you can jump on the track yourself and run. So make that official, ditch the timer and one-at-a-time requirement entirely, teleport and start everyone at the same time if they feel like it.

How do you make ALL players show respect for other players and demonstrate proper manners and politeness?
In the game these things don't seem to exist.
In real life would you run into the store and push past everyone ahead of you in line? No! Why? because you would get your butt into some sort of trouble, maybe even get whooped on. But in the game noone worries about it because nothing can be done about it. And if you speak to them and let them know how rude they are, they report you....
So, just step back and watch the not-polite people and laugh, and keep in mind that it's not always their parents fault, but sometime it is.
Some people just choose to be rude, it's fun for them even though in society's eyes they look like fools.

I hate the way they're doing it.
- no first-in-first-out
- no first-wave-gets-in
When you are selected and not transported to the track, you have 2 options:
- first, you are rooted - bang - you loose (I lost 27 times out of 523 attempts so far)
- second, you are not rooted and if you act fast enough, you can race on the track (saved myself 4 times that way). That is not really a solution or valid option, if you see the numbers.
I failed 7 times by my own mistakes, when trying to find out how to do it (at least 2 times for cutting etches more than allowed). Since I know what to do I never failed again.
So, take that as a sample, the game failed me 4times as many as I failed myself.
Only thing I'd like to see added next year is an elite version with a faster npc opponent but with the reward being twice the number of glossy photos.
The race is a cake walk once you learn it, give me more challenge for a bigger reward. You get the ship quicker but need to be better at the race to do so.

No. If you do that, you just receive more whining of the people loosing. That's just a time consuming task (to be done 25 times) to get the "free" Breen ship. So they made it easy to get the free giveaway but time consuming to lure the players into the game at a time when your are mostly busy with family celebrations.
You may get some elite version on top, if it will be pleasing you, but don't take away the "easy" way.

I hate being queue jumped!
Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

Summary: Bad job done here!

The elite version should just be PVP
