Another "Adventure Zone" (What if...)

If you could make an Adventure Zone..

Where would you set it?

What would the plot be?

Who would be the good guy?

Who would be the bad guy?

When would it take place? (2267, 2409/10 ?)

Honestly, I don't play STO to have a poor attempt of a random MMO map. So I'm not interested in an adventure zone.
Unless they bring something new, and don't try to make it like others, but poorly done because the game can't handle it.

Something like the Voths BZ for example. Maybe something where we have to assault something, culminating with some endfight, a bit like the kobali one, if you skip all the side quest and do the main quest only, starting after the temple. But with people around.

And plz, no undine space bz with small space to fight and sh***load of CC-aoe from mobs. It's about as fun as sitting on nails singing Justin Bieber.

    On Cardassia.

Stories could involve the True Way, a new Obsidian Order, Gul Dukat (I know he is supposed to be dead, but that hasn't stopped anyone in Trek yet) and Garak. Maybe it revolves around the Alpha Quadrant Alliance packing up and leaving after nearly completed rebuilding of the most important cities but then a conspiracy comes to the light trying to destroy the new Cardassian Republic.

And have the adventure zone entirely in a vast city area.

    On Cait

A splinter group of Ferasens invade and the various factions have to stop them, something along the lines of baddies have some super weapon and the Feds have to stop them to protect a members home planet, the KDF to stop them plunging the quadrant back into a war and the Roms because the Feds and KDF a tell them to!

Players are the good guys (of course!)

Splinter group of Ferasens the bad guys

Takes place in later half of 2410

Build it as a cross between the Kobali and New Romulus battle/adventure zones and it really would be awesome!

How about basing one around "A Piece of the Action"?

Have the three factions each acting separately, and a fourth made up of the locals.

The map would be a circle comprised of 30 or so sections. The three factions spaced around the edges, and the locals controlling the rest. Some sectors might have prizes (either usable items in the match [automated gun towers?] or as bonus rewards).

The goal would be to control as much of the map as possible at the end of the timer. More territory equals more reward. Taking a rivals "Home Turf" would result in bonuses...

What about a return of that Oceanic planet Tom Paris was trying to save? "Thirty Days" We could introduce the "Federation Naval Patrol"

    Shuttle Adventure Zone: The Waters

    Location: The Waters

Plot: 30 years later, ignoring Voyager about "The Waters" field reactor, the Moneans are now suffering the consequences of their decision. Containment is failing, the reactor has sent out a distress signal to an uncharted area of the galaxy. The Delta Alliance, Vaadwaur, Solanae and so on, pick up the message first. All arrive together and boom.. all hell breaks loose.

The missions at this "planet" revolve around the Federations Naval Patrol trying to stabilize the reactor, the Vaadwaur trying to destroy the reactor along with the Moneans, and the Solanae who are there for the [Redacted].

After dealing with the Vaadwaur and Solanae, an old"friend". arrives. With the Alliance & Monean vessels disabled, you're held at the mercy of the Probe, but after a few minutes of interfacing with the reactor and communicating with something in "The Waters" the probe simply restores power to all nearby vessels and leaves.

Good guys: Delta Alliance & Monean Maritime Sovereignty

Bad Guys: Solanae, Vaadwaur Supremacy , "The Waters" Wildlife

(I.E. Sharks, Sharks with lazor beams attached to their heads and ill tempered mutated sea bass.)

    Timezone: 2410

    Maps:

    "The Ocean"

Divided into several "blocked" sections, you start off in the lowest leveled region.. for this instance let's say 55, as you go "deeper" into the map, the hazards become greater.

    (I.E.

    55 - Allied "space"
    56 - Wildlife
    57 - Vaadwaur / Wildlife
    58 - Solanae & the reactor)

Then in addition to the main plot dailies could be added to each section, similar to Kobali Prime. For example...

Repairing damaged ships, herding wildlife, eliminating named npcs etc.

A massive interstellar junkyard ( a chunk of dyson sphere shell) is what I'd like to see

    Why?
The gates were opened, exploration is rife...and the lure of new technology is too great to ignore

    ground or space?
Both - as seen in a step beyonds eva sequence, you can use guns while eva-ing - thus the ground map is in zero g, the derelicts and flotsam too numerous for ships or shuttlecraft to safely get through, let alone when going inside the sphere shells structures - meaning armed eva is needed and excellent spatial awareness as the map is 3d, not based on a flat plane

    Enemies?
Automated defences, hirogen, elachi, space arachnids...

A hybrid space/ground adventure zone, you can pilot small crafts or land and fight in the ground.

    Location: Vorta homeworld, gamma quadrant
Enemies: Old Dominion renegades, female changeling.
    Allies: New dominion, Vorta, Odo.

Premise: After being released from imprisonment, the female changeling couldn't stand the changes to Dominion's way of life and politics caused by Odo's presence in the great link, a civil war threatens the gamma quadrant, the Vorta homeworld is under siege, Odo contacted the alliance hoping for help and renewed diplomatic relationships.

Released with the new expansion Dominion Unrest: A Quadrant on Flames.

I'd rework the Defera/Borg ground zone myself.

Update the looks to match the quality of the re-worked Borg missions from the story arc, and save dev time by using those existing assets. This free time can then be used for an entire restructure of missions to better resemble the Kobali zone.

Have periodic missions crop up on the map complete with escalation missions on success. Also fully completing a series of missions grants you a single BNP, since they are impossible to come by for new players these days.

Also, like Kobali and learning why they are being invaded, have some actual storyline in the Defera zone. Something more elaborate than a few text boxes.

OOH! make it a shuttle map! that premise sounds like a good concept for a shuttle zone.

    Make this!

Turn it into a Ground/Shuttle zone!

As for the plot, yeah, I can get behind the aliens there ignoring Voyager and all hell going wrong.

The Vaadwaur are attacking anyone, so again +1.

The Solanae are the Iconian "scientists" ? I suppose they might want to use the ocean as a weapon or sumthin.

As for the Probe showing up. Why would it show up for Moneans? Didn't it only seek out whales and similiar lifeforms?

Well, what sort of life form would WANT to build a planet that is nothing but a giant ocean?

Okay there's more than one option, but whales would love it.

Oh wait.... did the Waters have an atmosphere? Whales need to breathe.

Take out the Whales... dump in an Leviathan.... Maybe it's/their injured... they need help, and the whale probe has answered.

Needless to say.. I want to hear that SFX the probe makes... the "wab wab wab wab wab"

Ferengi/Delta Alliance Mining Venture in the Delta Quadrant.

    Shuttle Adventure Zone.

A turbulent asteroid field with various environmental hazards that might disable shields/subsystems or eat your hull or pull you inwards or whatever.

    Things to do:
-Damaging(without destroying) specified Asteroids, knocking off chunks of ore.
-Towing Ores to nearby Refining ships.
-Defending against occasional raids by Borg/Kazon/Elachi/Solanae/Native Organic Lifeforms/Disco-Aliens/Etc.

    Special equipment:
    (Restricted to Small Craft)
-Towing Beam Console - a bit like a single-target inverted Tractor Beam Repulsor
-Mining Beam Console/Weapon - does flat percentage-based damage but reduces and limits weapon power to 25%
    (Unrestricted)
-Artifical Mass Generator Console - Greatly reduces knockback and push/pull effects, but also reduces movement significantly.
-Material Refinery - Allows you to combine 100 crafting materials and X EC/Dilithium to get 1 corresponding crafting material of the next quality tier. 1~ hour cooldown

    Backstory:
New, Exotic Materials are found that require very delicate extraction(shuttles). Perhaps the materials are needed to build something to combat the next big Iconic plot.

    How it works:
-Players start next to the main processing station.
-The Station dispatches refining ships in each direction that the players feed ore to(by cutting chunks off - with weapons or special mining beam(s) and towing them close enough).
-Once an area has been cleared, the ship will venture deeper in that direction(with increasingly difficult environmental hazards).
-Critter groups may occasionally spawn to attack a Refining ship which needs to be defended.
-Refining ships may occasionally change mining priority and request a different kind of material be collected(Redium, Greenium, Purplium, etc.).

-There is an Escalation Meter for the zone that fills up as more of the Asteroid Field is depleted.
-Once the Escalation is full, a semi-random hostile strike force(fighters, frigates, cruisers, carriers) will arrive to investigate, and purge, the field of all the activity.
-The Refining ships will retreat back to the Main Processing Station to secure the ore for transport and need to be kept alive.
-Players can work to stabilize/suppress environmental hazards to allow friendly NPC Frigates/Destroyers to jump into the Asteroid Field during the Assault.
-If all the Refining ships make it back, a couple Battleship-class mobs jump in to assault the station itself.

-Refining ships will act as mobile 'nodes' that periodically reward nearby players with temporary buffs and crafting materials(and marks) depending on participation(either mining ore, hauling ore, suppressing environmental hazards, or shooting down hostiles).

-Zone resets once the Station is incapacitated or hostile task force is eliminated.
