Leaver penalty. For leaving a failed mission. And several other issues.

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but since it's the most stupid thing in the game right now I wanted to make sure this is on the front page again.

I join KAGA. Three people in there who said they wanted to do space and got there by accident. They didn't remodulate, didn't heal injuries, only me and one other person knew what to do. They didn't speak English, so we couldn't communicate. Since we only had a few minutes left and we just passed the first force field, the other person and I already decided we weren't going to make it. So we had to wait for the mission to end and sit there in the shield room, watching the console for about 20 minutes.

Then I join IGA. One guy with plenty of injuries, several critical ones. I told him to heal himself, he didn't do it. Only one other guy and I explained the team that we needed to be careful with the trigger lines and all that, no one listened, mission failed. Since I'd already spent 20 minutes waiting in KAGA, I didn't want to wait another 25 minutes before I could leave this mission. So I leave, and now I have a leaver penalty and I can't do another STF to get my MACO deflector.

I'm MACO elite commander on my 4 older characters, I've often helped other people get the optionals. But on this newer character I can't compensate for 3 failing people.

Needless to say, I'm pissed. I can't think of anything more ridiculous than giving players a penalty for leaving a mission that's failed. What's the point of that?

Some of these issues (people with several injuries, people not reading chat, people without knowledge of a mission joining advanced and since a few months the leaver penalty for leaving a failed mission) have been in the game for so long, when will they finally be adressed?

Edit: forgive me if I've gone too far with certain words, but I think everyone would be annoyed, to say the least, if this happened to them. Especially if these issues have been pointed out for so long and so often.

A player who enters an STF with excessive injuries, especially critical ones, is usually the tell tale mark of a troll. It's a cute trick really: technically they can still "contribute" but the injuries make them next to useless, dragging down the rest of the team. Best you can honestly do is leave the team and deal with the penalty. :(

i dont even know why the game lets you join STF with injuries..

should be standard from the beginning..

the game knows if you are in a shuttle.. or a lower tier ship.. but not if you have injuries?

Another IGA, another instant fail, another leaver penalty.

Yes, I'll stop whining now, even though I have a very good reason to whine...

I've suffered from this at times as well. The whole leaver/afk fail conditions and penalties really need to be looked at. They're just not working right as they should.
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.

Ok, apparently the word isn't spreading around fast enough so, here it goes!

1st off, you need be in the mission for at least roughly 15mins actual game time and, if not than leaving can hand you a leavers penalty.

2nd off, if the mission fails and, you do not see the leave button with countdown timer appear and, instead to decide to leave via beam out icon on mini map, you will have handed yourself a leavers penalty in most cases, unless you have met the above requirement listed in 1st off.

3rd off, if the mission does fail and, the leave button with countdown timer does show, than it is safe to leave without a penalty.

4th off, if you have met the requirements of 1st off and, are experiencing 2nd off, than you need follow both of those to a T and, not only will you not net a leavers penalty BUT, you will also not suffer a STF CD timer for that failed mission either BUT, this only works in instances where the leave button with countdown timer, does not show up after a failure!

Not sure about that. Ran an Azure Nebula not that long ago. One team member bailed at the start and another was, I $#!+ thee not, just hanging out in the starting point in a Klink shuttle. Mercifully it was a Normal so the other two team members and myself were able to finish, we just missed the bonus for freeing ships in under three minutes (or...whatever the frak it is.)

Reported the loser in the shuttle and moved on, but it did strike me as odd he was allowed to join the queue without a full starship.

Because some missions, deem a shuttle as qualified enough to run them or, it deems them qualified enough to be classified as a starship type vessel and, doesn't distinguish the difference between space going vessels!

This may shock you, but.... DPS is unnecessary in Azure. As long as the shuttle guy knows what he's doing he can contribute just as well as a guy ina ship.

Honestly the game not allowing you to join a queue with injuries, and giving you the relevant information about what injuries are and how to heal/fix them, would be a really good thing for STO.
