Cryptic nerfing pets

So now that it has been confirmed that Cryptic nerfed the dps on pets because they needed to be "balanced" (even though carriers do less dps than escorts anyways), what's next? Should I hold on to my fleet credits and dilithium until epic pets come out? Will epic pets be released? I'm going to venture a guess here. Epic pets will most likely be tied to t6 fleet holdings and will not be attainable until we achieve t4 or t5 of one of the main t6 holdings.

I also shudder to think of how expensive epic pets will be. Now that elite pet damage has been"normalized," will Cryptic lower the cost of fleet pets as well? Some players were saying that, on average, the nerf reduced pet damage by 50% Will Cryptic also reduce the costs of these pets by 50%, from 100,000 fleet credits and 50K dilithium to 50,000 FC's and 25K dilithium? Seems only fair since the pets are only half as good as they were before.

My Elite Delta flyers are not having much of an issue, save for Malon radiaton cloud but as a Vesta, it's my job ot keep them alive.

Currently UR pets are not worth getting over standard Rare ones. The bonus to weapons and so on isn't high enough to give a noticeably better performance. The flipside is those lovely UR pets no longer need to be grinded out allowing us the Rare's to enjoy as cheap replacements.

The best defense is a good offense. If your delta's were stronger, you wouldn't have to worry about them dying as often. It's also not your job to keep your pets alive if they are bugging out. They tend to stray towards warpcore breaches so damage is all pets had going for them and they don't even have damage to bank on anymore since that was reduced

I have to agree that it's difficult to justify the price tag of elite pets given their reduced damage. Very rares might be the way to go until t6 pets are released.

I got to be honest my Elite Slavers don't seem to be caught in warpcore breaches often and they have a good survival rate, which coupled with Quick Deploy and Wing Commander and a purple Flight Deck Officer means my launch CD is like under 20 seconds and they level up quickly (each rank up also heals them) so despite being just fighters they survive really well now. Plus they've gone up in hull points as I went from level 50 to 60.

Actually likely helps that I'm in a Flight Deck Cruiser, I use attract Fire alot, most of the time, and I have +threat consoles, which means I draw most of the fire away from them, tanking for my pets. Still only rarely do my pets die in warpcore breaches either I'm not sure why.

The High DPS crowd posted a thread on the difference between UR and Rare pets. The difference is now so small that it's not noticeable if you do about 20K damage. They don't have enough health to survive anything, and the damage they do is not buffed much anymore as they don't put out much damage in the first place after the nerf.

It's more cost effective to upgrade your Consoles by a long way.

Maybe the notion of hangar pets performing weaker since the nerf is merely a reporting bug!

All variants of the Orion Slavers have always been weak in DPS. They do nothing special in their attacks, they're still flimsy overall. No CRF, no BFAW, no HYT, no TS, no CSV, no BO, no Dispersal Patterns, no Attack Patterns, no EPTS, no EPTE, no improved engines like Orion Interceptors. They have no CC, they have no drains. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The only special thing they had was the looting aspect but Cryptic nerfed that ages ago.

Hangar units surviving is pointless if their firepower contribution is meaningless.

Yeah, I saved up the 100k Fleet Marks on my Roumlan to get Elite pets when I unlock the Breen Carrier.

Luckily, I saw the thread on Carrier pets, and now I'm going to use those funds on something else. I'll probably just go with the Advanced Pets from the Dil store, much cheaper. Since Cryptic seems to have it in for Carriers lately, there is no need putting a large chunk of resources into one.

The Carrier Pet nerf was just another move toward forcing everyone to use FAW Beam Boats. It's the only thing Cryptic allows anymore. Don't waste your resources on Elite Pets.

Actually they drain crew, not major, but cool, Slavers are also one of the few fighters that that has two projectile weapons at Elite (not counting frigates). They have photon torpedoes so that's up to six little ships firing photon torpedoes every six seconds. I'll double check how much damage each torpedo does latter.

Also I think one reason why my fighters rarely die in warp core breaches is that I usually have them on attack mode, I switch targets when the target ship dies which means they go off to attack my next target before the ship blows up. Sometimes I don't wait for a ship to die before switching targets if I have mines near it, the mines finish off the ship so I can target another before it dies. I usually don't need to do that that though, my fighters survive on thier own usually. When they do die its not a big deal as the launch CD is low. Elite Slavers do better in practice then they should on paper in a fight. The only time they tend to blow up a lot is when I make a mistake and get to close to a borg cube when it blows up.

Prey tell as to why? I was going to buy some tomorrow for my Sheshar. I almost always go for elite pets, and spent all day grinding the FC for them. Tomorrow I grind the Dilithium.
Im interested to hear your feedback.

I dont have a large sample size yet, but their DPS looks like it's in the 1.5k/pet.

Their AI seems to be seriously broken. they have a really hard time docking when recalled, most of the time they will just sit next you and ignore the recall command.

just now i was flying across the ANR map at half speed, one of the pets was docked and the other was following me around slowly refusing to dock. an NPC showed up over 30km away and i saw the pet automatically target them, stop following me, and slow boat it towards the NPCs (while in recall mode).

also, speaking about slow. they are SLOW. slower than the sheshar, and it seems like they have a worse turn rate. if you need to get someplace fast forget about them following you. they won't.

after you get a certain distance from them, they will disapear from your hangar UI. sometimes it will let you launch a new pet. sometimes it refuses to launch a new one because the current pet is still 50km+ away from you, slow boating it towards some random NPC even though you recalled it.

oh, and subspace jump is broken. i've seen them jump and re-apear in the exact same spot they jumped from.

For such an expensive pet (requires 2 ships to even unlock it in the store) it is really, really disappointing.

    BUYER BEWARE!

    Interesting feedback, thankyou.
Unrelated to the pets I know but I have noticed when summoning the support vessels often they simply disappear.
Im very happy with my ship but I'm somewhat worried about the bells and whistles.
