Okay, just going to come out and ask... if a thread is closed without a stated reason, and we aren't supposed to discuss potential reasons on the forum, how are we to know that the thread was closed on purpose? Or for a reason? Remember the DOOOMMM!! thread "outage" not too long ago? Sure, that one is specifically mentioned as okay in the FCT list... so how about a "grumpy meme" thread so we can contain ourselves there and not completely drift into "fuqit" land? I have no problem if you feel like deleting my post for discussing potential moderation, but some clarification about the topic, triggers, etc. of moderation would help us to better behave ourselves...
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
Just don't use politicaan/religion signs, dont blame other ppl and maybe they dont close it...
No guarantees, but not giving anybody a clear excuse to close it is probably not a bad idea.
But people are already going off the rails. I give it less than 24 hours.

They're just being silly about this sig thread thing, though it probably is not wise to poke the hornets nest with a short stick.
I'm going back to the DOOOM Thread, it's more fun anyway.

Clarification is good and reasonable.
The rules say that you can't discuss moderation on the forums. They do say that if you have an issue you can file a support ticket. But that's too much trouble, so people want to try to make an issue out of it here.
The DOOM thread was closed because a new moderator thought it was an FCT issue. It was a mistake and it was reopened. This I know as a fact.
The first sig thread was closed. That's all I know about it. I don't know why. However, I had warned people earlier in that thread that if they wanted the thread to stay open they needed to follow the forum rules.
Just on the last page of that thread were examples of people ignoring the rules, so clearly people weren't paying attention. A reason for closure would've been nice, but that's a courtesy and not an obligation.
The second thread was closed because we don't allow people to reopen problem threads whenever they feel like it.
Having said all of that, we're now firmly in discussion of moderation territory. If you guys want this thread to stay open this is what you need to do:
1. Every post including links MUST not violate ANY forum rules.
2. NO discussion of moderation.
Bear in mind, that this is no guarantee that PWE won't decide to close the thread themselves with no explanation. They clearly reserve that right for themselves in the forum rules.
Me, I'm looking forward to the holidays and not planning to lose any sleep over this one way or the other.

No, it's utterly USELESS, that's why nobody does it.
You want to know what happens when you file a ticket? They say "we have no say in what goes on in the forums, we'll be sure to pass it on to the forum moderators" -- who are the ones that close threads to begin with an will never admit fault or abuse of power intentionally or unintentionally.
They police themselves. You see the inherrent problem with that kind of power system?
Submit a trouble ticket? I migth as well pray to the Sun God, and would probably have a better chance of ever seeing anything about it.
I'm gonna linger on this limb a moment and dangle over the cliff.
My issue with the No discussion of mod rule is this:
Without discussion there is no understanding.
While some reasons are quite obvious, some reason will not be. How can you (PWE) expect new players to just magically read the rules and understand every single one without question?
Discussing moderation should be fine within limits obviously. One would hope moderators can manage to read and tell when a thread as gone too far and close it.
I'm not saying you, just in general. Maybe do a better job of modding with a clear explanation and we wouldn't have to ask why that is allowed and this isn't. Ban the trolls and not call people trolls for reopening a thread that had no explanation as to why it was closed.
Heck, I've pm'd a PWE employee for clarification on a ban and got ZERO response. How do you expect anyone to change their behavior if they don't have any idea what they did wrong?
We don't all express ourselves the same way and the intent gets lost in some typed words on a screen.
I have a total of 8 sent items to a PWE employee for the same thing. You do have a valid point.
What part of NO discussion of moderation was unclear?
If you want to get this thread closed, ignoring the rules is a good way to go about it.

Bear in mind that there is no quarantee that people will be very pissed of if the theating and censoring continues and most probably will keep opening signature and funny threads They clearly reserve that "right" for themselves in the "internet"rules.
This particular bru-ha-ha is really not worth the angst.
We had our several days of attention to the matter at hand and it's pretty clear that it WAS noticed if not actually commented on by the powers-that-be.
ADDENDUM:
Bluegeek, why not create a MOD Discussion Thread such as they have at the Star Trek BBB?
It would keep this kind of interaction to a controlled minimum and give us a place to vent without making a mess of the Forums in general?

The first thread was closed because it made Cryptic look idiotic and completely out of touch with the playerbase. They didn't want any new players to stumble on the forums and see a threadnought contradicting Geko's statement that the players are happy. This is just a repeat of that and the op knows it.
If I was a new player browsing the forums before deciding to play STO, I would flee, clear my history and never look back
There is so much wrong with this game now it's beyond belief.

Please don't close this thread, another one will spring straight up. Rather than starting a thread war why not just censor/remove the posts that clearly break the rules and occasionally reiterate the forum rules for the hard of thinking?!

If support tickets got properly answered at least once in a blue moon, maybe people would use them more. It's not "too much trouble" that's causing this, it's the non-existant efficency of the method.
Having said all of that, we're now firmly in discussion of moderation territory. If you guys want this thread to stay open this is what you need to do:

Point 2 I completely understand, even though I'm probably going to step on that line with what I'm about to say, but your Point 1 if true as I read it is truly LOL . Basically means that I (or anyone else) can get any thread I don't like or agree with closed by violating forum rules because you (mods, CMs, etc.) will close the entire thread and not just edit/delete/ban the conflicting replies/posts as you used to do not so long ago.
I hope someone in charge is focused enough to see that this practice you described can enable a well organized small group of trolls to shut down the entire forum if they want to.

Indeed. We should file support tickets about forum moderation that will either never be answered or give us the runaround.
What a great system you guys got.
and there's that ****response.
Oh there's my warning for "spamming" in my inbox.
I'm done giving you ppl money.
*Editting.* varekraith you have a point.
Ok. Enough of those references. They are completely wrong and unfair to the moderators.
We can be disagreeable without being mean.

Neither option has forums.
Clarify please.
After you have selected Star Trek Online under Games, there is a button below "Can't find a solution to your issue?"
I think that's the spot to report anything in or outside the game.
