Fastest Race on Ice Auto-Fail/Loss?

rerednawrerednaw Member Posts: 159 Arc User
EDIT: Fastest GAME on Ice.

Small suggestion: fix the bug that makes you auto-lose when you get rooted and not teleported to the track.

Alternate solution: put a secondary quest giver right next to the start Racing Official.

Alternate solution: make the quest giver the Racing Official.

Thanks!

You mean when you wave at the same time as someone else?

Alternate solution: Don't wave at the same time

    :P

It doesn't seem to matter. I had a character fail today four times. Twice was when I waved and someone else waved after me. I was the one to get screwed. Another time the race started but didn't put me on the track. I had to run onto the track and off it to fail it so that I could restart it.

It's a minor issue. Others can and do end up joining before you can, causing you to not join and fail the race. It's annoying, and sometimes a big PITA when it happens 4-5 times in a row, but it's the same bug that's been there at least since last year.

I just go to another quiet instance to run it, then change back to a more populated instance afterwards.

    +1
Solves the problem of all the AFK'ers around the race official too. Too bad they can't get rid of the AFK'ers around the pie official.

I learned the trick to avoiding this on NoPPS

Basically, equip the frost boots, get a running start, and talk to the npc while jumping.

If you get held without teleporting, you'll still clear the little fence he's next to and land on the racetrack. Since you're in-bounds, you don't get disqualified.

It's a bit tricky to do, but once you know how it works every time.

If you waited your turn you would not have a problem. It only happens if more than one person try to do it the same time. But that is asking a lot to have players to be decent to each other. :)

This is an exploit that was in the game last year. I always wait my turn, but there are some that either don't, or they try to exploit others.

What I started doing last year and told others about it then was to use the wave emote. The way you do it is you put "/e wave" in the chat box without the "" and hit enter when it is your turn.

The ones that are trying to exploit you will see your character wave, and they will queue up for the race. As soon as they do, you can queue up for it also. This will cause them to exploit themselves, and not you.

I have had some of them say that they reported me for exploitation. I just let them know that they tried to exploit me, and it backfired, and they will see it when they investigate the incident and see that they did it to themselves. Lol.

It is sad, though, that even with something as easy as the race, so many need to exploit others, because they are so lazy. Reminds me of the exploiters in the Mirror event, just because they were too lazy to actually play the game. Lol.

Actually it's when someone waves slightly after someone else, the first person will become bugged. People are now doing this to troll people, I see it all the time.

This is the last fun thing which remained in STO. The first thing was the Bio-Thermal Dampener with freeze effect.

To be honest I think it's signal delay. If two players do something simultaneously they will always see it as if the other guy did it second.

I was figuring this was a network lag style of problem creating the desync.

All that really needs to happen is a "Sanity Check" in the programming. If Player is not Teleported to coordinates XYZ then Quest Progress does not get incremented to Next Step.

The mere fact that Cryptic can't even be bothered to implement something as simple as THAT tells you everything you need to know about the quality of their code monkeys.

    Easy solution:

If you wave and don't get immediately rooted, jump right away over the fence onto the track. You'll be "inbounds" and won't get disqualified.
