Where to get very rare crafting materials?

In trying to find where to get purple crafting materials I found a STOWIKI article saying I could get very rare crafting materials playing elite PvE. For example, playing elite Crystaline catastrophe can get you radiogenic particle. I just played Crystaline catastrophe and earned a "radiogenic particle" box with crafting materials, but none of which had radiogenic particle just common crafting materials.

Where in this universe do I get very rare crafting materials?!
I already looked on the exchange but all of the crafting materials I need are way too expensive for me, the prices are ridiculous.

I specifically need radiogenic particle, Dentarium, Craylon gas, and Trellium-K.

Any help would be nice, thank you!

    What comes out of the box is random -- it just has a chance of dropping VR mats. Keep trying.

    You can get Rare Z particles from the episode that has you saving the U.S.S. Kirk in it.
    (sorry can't remember the name).
    Just wander off the beaten path and you'll find them.

    I haven't tested all the Elites but these are the boxes I've found so far and what I can extrapolate based on what's left. All of these are at Elite.


    Borg STF (Space) - Trellium K
    Storming the Spire - Trellium K (I think, haven't done it in a while)
    The Breach - Trellium K (Have not confirmed this one yet)
    Borg STF (Ground) - Plekton Partlice
    Crystal Entity - Radiogenic Particle
    Defend Rhi'llo Station - Craylon Gas
    Tholian (Ground) - Craylon Gas
    Mine Trap - Craylon Gas
    Undine (Space) - Argonite Gas
    Undine (Ground) - Dentarium (Have not confirmed this one yet)

    All other queues, including difficult ones like NWS give a regular R&D package that does not drop VR Mats.

    Here's a guide from sto reddit. Note that you don't always get the purple materials, even though the box is named after them. Keep playing the queues and you'll eventually get some. trellium k is the cheapest on the exchange and should be easy to get, since that is the purple material that drops from the Estfs. Everyone playing ISE all but guarantees you'll be able to get Trellium pretty cheap. Good luck trying to get craylon... I got mine from the r and d doff mission...don't think I've ever played any of the queues it's associated with other than mine trap, which is all but dead since they changed the marks bonus schedule. Will be playing that mission heavily during the event weekend.

    Craylon is cheap. Just run Defend R'hllor Station Elite. Easy.
