Just finished the DR missions and i'm a little sad about what could have been an even more epic battle..
Where were the Voth or Undine? I was expecting to see them in the final battle to help beat the Vaduar - Like a final epic struggle... the Delta forces were not strong enough and were getting royally hammered then when all was almost lost.... the Undine and Voth Appear and help save the day (Thus, opening up options for T6 Voth and Undine ships).
Imho it would have been a more epic battle, rather than messing with the few 'boring' undeveloped races we had from the delta quadrant.
Undine were dealt with towards the middle of the arc, and Voth are wrapped up with the Turei. Not to mention there would be no reason for them to join us, since we have only ever fought Voth/Undine and never had a chance to negotiate. Them being there would make no sense.
But you are looking for logic in the wrong place.
The federation is assaulting this species without reason rather than help them overcome their bug infestation. Here you have an honorable group trying to recover the bodies of their fallen warriors to prevent desecration of the corpses by a group of zombies that are spreading their disease and growing in power by creating a war by lying and duping the feds. Not only are the vaauds trying to stop this horrible zombie disease from spreading, they are at the same time dealing with their own leadership being under control of the mind-bugs. So, logically, the feds decided to help the zombies, and because it makes sense, the kdf also is forced to help the zombies -- largely by making spicy stews and spending quality time viewing the mad dreams of insane vulcans.
You expect the voth, a group of victims who were assaulted by everyone (feds, roms, and kdf) because we wanted the sphere they had found and were studying, to join their enemy in order to help spread space zombie disease to more corpses?

We're not fighting the Vaaduvar just because of Kobali Prime. We're fighting them also because they attacked the Turei, the Talaxians and various other species and planets. I remember the Vaaduvar even attacking civilian escape transport and dodging (or tanking) their space artillery shells while trying to repair these civilians ships. Not to mention the innocent Talaxians that got murdered...
You may call the Kobali Zombie, by the way, but you can't say they are spreading a disease. The only ones they "zombify" are corpses. Corpses don't suffer from diseases anymore.

They're saving that kind of thing for the big last battle with the Iconians....;)

The Undine are off sorting out their political issues (which, from what happened to Cooperdine, probably involves eating the other faction, which must make the debates far more interesting than ours).
The Voth, however - I think that's going to be a plot point for future missions. The Voth weren't shy about honoring their pact with the Turei even in face of some pretty severe losses the first time around, and any time you spend a whole mission with an NPC going "omg where is X??" every ten seconds like the Turei do when you save their homeworld the second time around, you can generally assume that X's current status is going to be important at some point.

1. The Undine were wrapped up in the very first mission, Mindscape.
And there is still much story potential with them. They know now that they were manipulated, and Cooper is probably not dead. He was "repurposed" by his ship.
2. The Voth are not wrapped up at all. They did not show up to help the Turei when the Vaadwaur's second attack hit. Now we can lazyly assume that they are just a-holes, but I don't think it's that easy. I think the Voth are preoccupied at home. Something hit them, and I don't think it was the Borg or the Vaadwaur, but something new.

Heh. Remember I am being funny here ... the story was so fedded I have to try to stretch it to make sense of it as a kdf captain. If not, I am stuck with "gee mister let me help you" storyline nonsense.
the vaaudwar attacked those others because they are under the influence of the bugs (possibly). And one rogue officer murdering a handful of innocents is not grounds to wipe out a race.
I still say the lying kobali are up to something. Its a giant plot within a plot! First, trick everyone in the quadrant into senseless war(s). Kill stuff, get corpses. Infect them to make more zombies, who in turn kill more "enemy' to make more zombies...

We don't wipe out the vaaudwar. We fight their forces, try to solve the bug infestation problem. Even in the final battle we have medical ships standing by to save survivors.
And we also actively help the Vaaudwar that refuse to follow the bug-infested leaders.
The only ones that are trying to wipe out a race are the Vaaudwar here - they want to wipe out the Kobali, and it can be argued that this is not even bug-related, but simply because they find what the Kobali did to dead bodies disgusting. It may be understandable to dislike that, but genocide is still not an acceptable solution.
And if you side with the Vaaudwarhere, you're no true scotsman: The Star Trek "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination" mentality certainly leaves place for a species that re-purposes the dead of other species for its own survivel. (And that the dead are "re-purposed" by nature is also pretty normal. I doubt the Vaaudwar created any viruses that kill bacteria, fungi and plants that decompose dead organic matter.)

Oh there is much more story to come. It tends to be Cryptic's general MO. We'll probably be seeing a feature episode or two coming in the near future, and if they follow their trends, it is going to be AWESOME. You may have 'finished' the story but you didn't finish the story, since the rest is still unwritten!

I have no problem with the kobali being in-game and in-lore, if that is what you meant. Just because they exist does not mean I have to like them, or want to help them. And I certainly do not want to help them with the provided story line -- they lied to us to drag us into the war, period. If they turned over the pods and were still being attacked, I might agree to help them, but not until that happens.
And genocide is a perfectly effective solution. "The needs of the many" can even be extrapolated to encompass it under some conditions. One infinite combination, for example, might be the "alien" movie monster, which would be a good candidate for extermination.

Yes! Everyone who came out of Voyager is rightfully insane and yet Starfleet promoted them all to Admirals and Captains! For all we know this whole Delta Operation is so Tuvak can uphold some waxked out Promise to Janeway to avenge her and settle scores with her enemies!
