Late patch? - Nothing new there then...

captmaniccaptmanic Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Having played many MMO's and now being new to Star Trek (played around 6 weeks), I can tell you that your patches and wait times are a joke.

I have seen around 4 patches applied to the game in that time, and of those 3 have over-run on your scheduled periods. (2.5 hours is long to apply a patch in the first place.. but to over-run on that as in today - currently standing at a 5 hour and 46 minute patch time) is quite frankly a joke.

Cryptic you need to sort out your preparation in advance of these patches. I would also strongly suggest employing new programmers as your current ones are s**t (game has a ridiculous amount of bugs and glitches, especially compared to any other MMO I have played). Korvez being a classic example where there is a level of Bentham assault cruisers which your game developers have released without clearly having tested even once, because it is completely broken..
In addition your servers are in desperate need of upgrades and often struggle to run the game for your subscribers without lag.

Now - this is my opinion and I stand by it. You will most likely now revoke my forum posting rights, as you have done before for stating my opinion, and you will also most likely censor this thread, as you have previously because it is criticising you and your capability to operate an MMO. However I want you to know that my opinion (and if I think it, I assure you that many other players of your game will think it too) STANDS.

Dont get me wrong - your game also has many amazing features, and hence I am still playing it, but as with everything in life there are areas you need to improve.. and as of yet I don't see any evidence you are working on these, hence my annoyance.

Thank you for listening and please sort your game out.

Nerd rage. What would we do without you? :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I have to wonder, (as I won't go into the major content of your post because you are clearly just looking for a confrontation) what kind of qualification is "I've played many MMO's." Doesn't exactly require any special skills or certifications that... :P

You are a gamer. That makes you a nerd like the rest of us.

You are angry there was a Server problem that delayed you playing the game and expressed your anger in a forum post.

    Thus nerd rage. :)

I don't think it's possible to plan for bad weather, short of a hurricane or tornado warning. And even then, there's a million other things that can go wrong regardless.

And for a niche company, they're not likely to have a bunch of backup servers readily available and capable of doing more than host the backup data (such as supporting actual mass gameplay).

Also, you joined pretty much at the worst stage possible, after the fun has well and truly been sucked out.

Hmm.. I think you are defending them a bit too much there. With all the requirements to buy stuff that this game has ($5 for 10 more slots in your bags, $8 to train some new skills.. just for example), I think it is fair to say that Cryptic are getting more than sufficient money in their back pockets to ensure simple things like decent programming and reasonable patch times... They just need to spend a bit more of their profits back into the game to keep people happy..

Strange that some MMO's are now able to connect their players to the client while the game is patching. But then, implimenting that feature in STO is something way above the capacities of the devs from Cryptic. Just calling a cow, a cow and not a horse.
OK, if I have to stay here for a while, your cieling ... looks idious.:D

... and there are many times where server updates complete on time, there are also many times when maintenance is finished ahead of schedule. Your experience connected with a few patches after an expansion to the game really does not qualify you on anything. Sometimes server maintenance completes on time, sometimes it does not... and after expansions you're likely going to have overruns. It happens.

How is that 6th account working out for you? :)

And should we go over the last 25 weekly Patches and see how many of them had extended downtime that lasted more then 15 minutes? I have a feeling your "every damn time" is probably a lot less frequently then your memory is indicating. :)

And another ban is likely inbound for poor hayley XD. But yeah, they're a mite late, but it's not due to the patch, it's due to server issues. It's not bugs or anything like that. They haven't even had a chance to manifest yet :P
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

It's to be expected.... downtime brings out STO "experts" whose accounts are less than 30 days old and people whose posting activity to years playing can be expressed as a fraction.
