Two nights ago the server had a 5 minute fit and crashed for everyone,at the time i was about convert some dil/zen the rate stood at 161/zen...after the crash and it was only 5 minutes till i got back on and miracle of miracles the zen rate had jumped to 175 dil/zen
how bloody convenient that there is a new super dread coming out that will cost wait for it...zen
and here a i am tonight waiting for a patch to finish that should have finished 90 minutes ago, any comms from cryptic...no what a surprise there eh?
so its come to this
devs and community managers take note, you have seriously wounded what was once a great game,if something doesnt get sorted soon you will most likely be looking for further employment
as it stands im off to try out war thunder it seems to be working

Q for us all: What guarantee is there that the next lot wont be even more focused on finding our wallets?
It's just "Dr Doom" Roubini
Refugee from those other games!
the meat of your complaint is that upon the announcement of a zen costing lottery, the value of zen increased, coupled with a slow patch?
Out of ALL the things to complain about, its the player-driven prices that got to you? ????
And your suggestion ? Tamper with the economy and exchange rate rather than let it be a market?
I guess I do not understand. Not keen on gambling for ships, but that is an optional activity, I don't have to buy any lottery tickets. Its there if I want to try my luck.
freedom of *speech* (spelling..) is intact. If a us citizen, you have the right to not have your thoughts censored by the US government (including local governments). Cryptic however allows you to type here within their rules. Don't like it? Type it somewhere else. Its not a government entity.
I totally agree but be careful they don't gag this thread by closing it. God forbid we try to use freedom of speach
"I quit" treads are against the forum rules, and as this forum is private property you waved your rights to Freedom of Speech here when you agreed to join it.
It is sad how many American have no idea what their Constitutional rights really mean.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Ya the ZEN Spike always happens when they KNOW there is going to be a new item out that players might want to get their hands on. That is how they make their money and such. We want more content, we gotta pay the ZEN.
What happened to those unique forum ranks I paid for?
BTW - the the context "any meant none and here is a link with two posts. As a Network Engineer and Admin, maintenance can take extra time due to something unforeseen. They are having bad storms in CA which is affecting them getting the tools and updates to the servers on the East Coast.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Zen priced higher on the exchange earlier this year. Prices going from 180-ish to 150 range now back up to 170. Still a good deal.
yes and 1 1/2 years ago it was around 85... so....
1.5 years ago was when LoR came out. I assure you it was no-where near 85 at that time.

It is amazingly convenient how quickly people looking to shut others up suddenly view freedom of speech to be a few words on a legal document. For some of us, freedom of speech means something more, but it would take more than 5 words to explain it to you...
Is there a death threat in there somewhere, worthless moderators?
Freedom of Speech means exactly what the Congress and Supreme Court deem it to mean. What some choose to believe beyond that is irrelevant to the facts. There are some who choose to believe the Earth is less then 10,000 years old. That does not make them correct, no matter how much they want to believe it.

Thas its inspiring... thats how nations grow over others, to hell with agreements and words in paper, we can say an do what we want and wherever we want, and our troops will back up our rights no matter what country they be send to do it.

Ah the ever so 'un-subtle' hint towards real world politics, racism or some other form of ism, neatly tied of with an 'i issued no threat' comment. All of which have no real place in the forums, mainly as they tend to produce nothing but grief, butthurt and distress. When you seek to compare or apply real world issues to an ingame problem, or a game forum, you have pretty much lost any point you were attempting to put forward. This is a game, its someone elses house, you dont have to like the rules, but in this house you either follow them or you are asked to leave.. it isnt rocket science, nor is it some great big conspiracy in the STO sky.. although sometimes it may feel that way.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

Dude it has been broken since the very first patch after DR (OCT 23rd). Very few that are sane are actually going beyond level 60 and fill the specialization XP. Lot of my fleets have left too. As for me the end game is the forums...at least there a few people left here. After the Winter event it will be harder to see any queue working at all. Perhaps cryptic should named Star Trek online ...the SOLO experience. This has stopped or on the way to be a SOLO MMO due to the extreme grind and the thirst to NERF everything.
as it stands im off to try out war thunder it seems to be working
Already there, the grind is much gentler and much more rewarding.
I actually feel very foolish that I ploughed so much real money into this blatant cash grab. The war thunder devs get flamed, sure, but nowhere near to the extent that they do here.
They pretty much have the balance right between earning a living and delivering value.
I read a lot of people talking about entitlement in STO.
It's a genuine problem but in my opinion it's TRIBBLE about TRIBBLE.
The DEVS are the ones who seem to believe they are entitled to gouge the player base until they bleed while giving very little in return.
I was the last one of my fleet to call it a day soon after DR failed to deliver and the powers that be removed dilithium rewards for all but the very few.
We won't return but it doesn't make any difference either way. The whole business model relies on fleecing as much as they can as quickly as they can. The disillusioned leave and a new batch of fresh players comes along to take their place.
It's a numbers game and nothing said in these forums will change the cold disregard for the player base or the calculating greed of the money men calling the shots.
Live long and prosper, just don't spend money on this game unless you really can afford to throw it away otherwise you may hate yourself for it later.
maybe it was short before the LoR release.... but i clearly remember that we had such rates around that time
Yeah, I remember those rates, but they were when dilithium was first introduced, in the F2P model, didint lasted long thou.. i was here from the begining, i'll be here on the end!.. lol!

Believe what you will. I have no desire to shut anyone up. But this web site belongs to cryptic, and here, one must follow their rules, or the post gets deleted. And deletion of that post does not violate "rights". Just like the wall of the side of my home is MINE. I MAY allow someone to spraypaint it with "STO IS THE BEST GAME EVER AND THE PLAYERS LOVE IT". If he decides to paint "STO is terribad" instead, I have the right to delete that --- and it does not violate his right to freedom of speech/expression -- I own the wall, and if there is a message on it that I do not like, I can have it removed or changed.
You might note that the 2nd says "arms". Nuclear bombs are "arms". Much as I might like to have one, I would get in major trouble trying to purchase a nuke... and no one would buy that it was my "right" to have the thing. You can't even own melee weapons in the "police states" --- get a online seller that has throwing stars or nunchucks for example, what does it say .. not for sale to ".. .. .. " states. All the rights are limited, and some are limited far beyond the pale.

A game does not have that effect upon me.
