Actually, Smirk and Geko are monitoring this thread for updates as well. Both have already commented on the thread and Blue Geek has mentioned he wants to try and keep this thread opened so more people can have a place to express their views / problems regarding the matter here.
No, I am not who you think I am. I am someone different. I am instead a banana.
Don't know if anyone else has noticed or stated it here (don't have time to scan the forums), but I didn't know what anyone was talking about with this "Saint Olivia" issuing challenges until I happened to type something in zone chat. Then BAM! there's a challenge in my face. Every time I say something in zone chat on any character (without the privacy settings changed), the challenge appears a couple of seconds after I hit enter. The bot must be scanning the zone chat for targets.
Just in case that helps...if someone's already posted this or you figured it out already or whatever, then just ignore me. (Everyone usually does.)
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

This.
They've said there's a fix in the works and it's patch day tomorrow, so it could well be sorted out then. Incidentally that's probably why things have been kicked up a notch in WW to get the most out of it before it's patched.
Yeah the fake Saint Olivia was going nuts in there all day, still is going by what is being said in zone chat in WW. Spamming challenges and invites non-stop.
There were a few of us in there warning off some of the newer players as he/she was trying to get donations for the "fleet"/"giveaway" and it was obvious this was just trying to dupe those who were none the wiser.
Hopefully we saved a fair few people from throwing their goodies to the wrong person.
The individual was reported by a lot of people by the looks of things.
On the plus side though Olivia, you are probably a lot more well known now than ever before as zone chat was basically all about you all day! So this mess has been some great publicity for your wonderful giveaways that you run in ESD.

I guess that is the slight upside to it. It seems this whole ordeal has made my character pretty well known and the legit giveaway we run is getting all sorts of exposure.
The downside is I am constantly having to defend myself now when people think it is me doing the spamming.

Good job this forum isn't full of conspiracy nuts otherwise one might find that quite interesting.
You are not alone Olivia. Today in Winter Wonderland a fake Olivia started spamming PVP invites to many people in that area (myself and a couple of fleetmates I was running with included).
After a few of us spoke up in zone saying this was NOT you, and indeed informing some people as to who you are and what you do it seemed to stop.
But it did seem to cause quite a stir at the time.
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".

Yeah, for some reason the troll was going after anyone and everyone today. Anyone that said anything got spammed. I counted 45 people myself. No clue what the exact number was though.

Well you can throw another 8 from my fleet that were in the same area.
I suspect he is using area search rather than zone chat as some were generally silent players and I did not have zone chat open until I saw the name on the invite and opened it to see if I was not alone.
Add to that the obviously angry people in zone chat in no way connected to Delta 1 shouting at this false Olivia and others asking what/ who the fuss was about (and the resulting false information/trolling /confusion that goes with it), one can safely assume quite a few more than 45 people in one way or another had their day interrupted with this trollspam.

It could be he knows the Devs are now on to him and decided to unload a spam bomb or something to go out in a blaze of glory until he is caught. Maximize the damage sort of thing before he's shut down.

Yeah, can't say for certain what lead to the mass spamming of...well, almost everyone around.
No, I am not who you think I am. I am someone different. I am instead a banana.
well I finally got an apology in game: casperdudesd: sorry man i cleared everything up with olivia i saw it was not you sorry to have blamed you.
took me awhile to figure out who he was but when I said hey your the guy that had "PROOF" he got mad an blocked me XD

Glad you got that resolved. I think perhaps he was just so mad about the situation that he simply wasn't seeing the difference in the name. Big of him to offer an apology.
I am glad most of the players that are getting trolled by our impersonator aka stalker, are understanding of the situation and things are getting worked out.

So I'm assuming everyone's egos are now finally sated and the OPs issue has been fully addressed? Don't see any mention of a fix to privacy settings in the patch notes tomorrow so maybe you'll all have to deal with this hardship for another week yet.
On the downside they are reducing the frequency of the Epohh lady's desperate attempts to find them a loving home.
Smirk please do not take offense to this, I applaud your work.
I had a recent experience with someone copying a friend's @handle and spamming me with private action invites. I fell for it and instantly had a post trolled.
I ignored the@handle and it continued, I reported the bug, I reported the trolling. And here I am, not alone it seems.
So the fix is I have to change MY settings to avoid this?
Does that seem right to everyone?
The victim has to change how they play the game because people are harassing them.
Let me say that one more time, people being harassed have to change how they play to lessen (not completely avoid) being harassed and bullied.
And why are we ok with that? I'm not.
Here is my solution, I vow never to spend a cent on anything STO related until this issue is resolved.
Just one person, right? No big deal, right?
Now here is where I need a little help. It won't even cost you a dime. Do the same thing. Submit a bug report about it, tell them you won't spend anymore money until they fix it.
Now here is the hard part. Some of you won't agree to this, and I understand. But, the noose is around my neck, I may as well jump off the horse so here goes: Ask your friends to do the same thing.
Hit STO where they do care about something, in the bank account. Do that, and lets see how fast this issue gets resolved.

The only change to how we play is going to be our privacy settings or our ignore settings. Normal gameplay won't be affected at all. A few clicks, and done. Its a Dumbfire missile, point and shoot fire and forget. And frankly... a good idea. The Devs are taking this situation seriously, as they should because for all intents and purposes, the perp is effectively comitting a Denial of Service attack in game to block players from doing anything except dealing with his spam and nothing else.
Demanding the equivelent of a strike until its fixed won't get the Devs the information they need as it evolves or attention that is required. MMOs are basically a living organism, constantly changing. Without input, how do you expect things to change?
For example, the Season 7 Accolade bug when we switched from the random loot drops to rep system for MACO/Honor Guard/Omega gear. For a long time many of us were unable to get the accolade costume parts because the accolade wasn't properly reconnected. It would say we've done it, but not actually award the accolade, thus blocking out the accolade and reward entirely. It took Cryptic a long time to sift through all that code to fix it, but it was eventually fixed.
Coding isn't easy. One bad keystroke can nuke the whole thing. And when you deal with something as deep into the code as our privacy settings concerning invites... that is PRETTY deep I believe. Its not like flipping a switch. Its more like trying to fit a puzzle together without a reference.

Especially when you remember that a lot of this code was inherited and is probably now being worked on by people who weren't around when it was first written. It can be a quite a pain to pick up someone else's code and have to work out what everything is doing before you can even attempt to fix stuff.

Including a Challenge from Saint Olivia, which I assume to be a fake.
I had been reading this thread, at least through the first 20 pages, so we are aware of what is going on.

I think most people understood the situation once it was explained in chat.
