I have zero interest in acquiring any kind of Breen vessel, yet I find myself collecting all these pictures of Q, could we have some other use for them? With all the effort so many people put into gathering them it'd be nice if they had a reason to keep doing so after they get their abomination vessels, and for those who aren't interested to not delete them.
Perhaps a way to exchange them for other holiday items, say, 5 Autographed 8x10 Glossy Pictures of Q for 1 Terran Holiday Ornament, and similar prices for other common Holiday Collectibles, and 10 Pics for the Uncommon ones.
I mean, I'm going to get 400 of these D@#$ things in the ten runs of the Fastest Game on Ice for the Cryoplasma Warp Core, I might as well have something to do with them, they're bound to Character, so it's not like i can hawk them on the Exchange.

My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.
You have to do TIDES OF ICE 10 times for the core.
This. Tides of Ice is the only way to get the Breen Warp Core. Fastest game on ice only gives autographed pictures of Q so if you don't want the Breen ships, then you don't need to do the Fastest game on ice.

You could always collect them in the hope that next year they will have a ship you like better

Ah, very well then, still, if I've earned the Photos, I kind of want a reason to keep them and use them, and this would encourage me to run the race regardless of whether I want a Breen POS or not.
Since all their special event ships are always alien ships, that'll never happen, I'm a canon purist.
Just for the record, the new one isn't "just" a ship ... it's also a "free" Ship Trait, of course you would have to fly it first ... then change back to your (canon) Ships ... but since you're a canon purist, and the Trait is basically just for Carriers (my guess : you're not flying the Atrox etc either), I dunno how useful that would be ... just saying ...
PS : you could always hope for a "true" FED Carrier someday, for the Trait to use ... begs the question, if you would consider Fed Carriers canon at all ...
PPS : ... if not, you might get a decent Trait next year ...

Nope, in fact I quit for two years after the Atrox hit the game out of rage, I was one of the ones arguing from launch that Carriers shouldn't be in the game at all, Fed, KDF, Rom, doesn't matter, if it was up to me, all the non-Fed/KDF/Rom ships and all the Carriers would be cut from the game tomorrow.

I have always kind of agreed on the carriers to be honest - they just don't seem very trek. The only races who had completely disposable soldiers were the Dominion, and according to Nemesis, the Romulans used Remans as fodder, which they notably failed to do in the Dominion war...for some reason...surely not because they hadn't been thought up yet....
Everyone else, even Klingons, were too either to pragmatic, or too moral to waste good pilots flying disposable vessels in combat.
I understand that carriers add extra elements to the gameplay, but they feel almost as unTrek as energy credits, and I have always felt that they should never have been implemented.

I echo this. During the summer you collect pearls to get a ship, in the winter you collect portraits to get a ship. In the summer you collect favors to buy goods, in the winter you collect ornaments to buy goods. This is the way it is.
Don't complain that you can't use something your collecting if your not after what they buy. You don't clip coupons for laundry detergent to buy something at the meat market.

Then we could all sing and dance in a perfect role players fantasy game and sit around the camp fire and sing row your boat in round.
Really some of you folks make me shake my head. Its a game man... and trek is a large universe... this isn't Federation online, or Star Trek 1969 online either.
No one is forcing you to fly anything other then the ships you like, not sure why you care if anyone else enjoys a trek game the way they like.

The game you describe sounds boring as all heck.
Thank god my Wells is canon. I'd hate to be excluded from the OP's vision of a purely canon fed only universe.
Tell me OP, in your vision of the game would I get to sleep with blue aliens like Kirk?
