imy my newly created character i joined this event and it was PITA a realy big one, since every member in my team was fresh new too, so no one did have snow weapons and we must show snowbals by hand...so kiling every snowman and especialy boss / yeti was REALY painful.

So pls add that the longer you fight with main boss the MORE reinforcment you get from gingerbread "militia". say for every negined minute 5 more.
It taken a realy lot of time, normaly in that time i will do 2-3 runs on my more stuffed chars.

Yeah, being limited to snowballs with newer chars is a pain, especially since the main way to get the ornaments now is snow-combat, which typically rewards you more the more you kill. You get a handful for pie-eating, but that's locked to a 20 hour timer. With snowballs in PoI I got 4 holiday items at the end, and that was it, but with snow guns I got 1-3 per wave and 5 at the end.

The original event had it to where you could get holiday items to trade for the weapons by digging in the snow piles, but people 'abused' that to afk macro farm the items to sell to other players. Instead of fixing excessive farming, with cooldown limits or loot limits, they just removed the items besides snowballs...

... Or you can just put your excess ornaments into your Account Bank.

    Just sayin'.

well, not everyone have acount bacnk (and 2k is nice investment) abd it still reqwure you will have stored on anothechs chars and didntd sold/used all of them last winter.
Your solution is to - hey why to fix existing problem when you can walk around him ? because it is (fixable) problem ?

and no, you dont get much reward on normal mission to create enough in short time to transfer to another char eighter.

I've done it with a group of 5 people with snowballs, but it's a pain. You really have to focus on the snow king at the end and take him out before too many gingerbread men die.
    I was able to pick up a gun fairly quickly on my new alt. Here are reasonable sources of ornaments;

Pie eating contest: It's quick, and you can do it between other events
Snowman invasion at the half hour: If you start out in a high population zone, once you kill the snow king and get your reward, you can transfer to a low population zone, and do it again for another reward. I've occasionally been able to get 3 kings in a row.
Doffing: There are missions in wonderland and ESD/First City/Control for ornaments.
Borg Invasion: The rewards here aren't so great until you get a weapon, but it needs to be done at least 5 times anyway to unlock some stuff, so why not start now?

doffing sound easiest way to get stuff, but it takes longest time. Running with various events - other than pie eating - have one big problem - you have to be there at set times, which is problem if you are not there.
And when you have to wait cca 20 mins ? what to do ? sarte at wall ? boring. read a book ? you will miss that time.

So adding more and more reinforcemnts is imo easiest solution.

I'm not really opposed to the suggested change that you have proposed, but you are greatly overstating the downtime of trying to get the commodities with one of your better-equipped characters. If you start at the beginning of an hour, you should be occupied completely between a Tide of Ice, a Winter Invasion and Pie Eating for the first 22-25 minutes of that hour, only having 7-9 minutes between Pie Eating and Snowball fight at 31 past the hour, roughly. Manage doffs, R&D, inventory, Fleet, chat with friends, whatever you like for this short downtime. If you're trying to maximize your reward for the Pie Eating and Snowball Fight, you will want to be in an instance with less than 10 people, if possible. It prevents crowds at the pie table, and allows you to kill 50 or more snowmen, essentially guaranteeing a 10 commodity reward at the end, but it will take longer for the Snowball Fight. As long as there is one other person with a snow weapon, you will beat the Overlord in time. I've done it reliably. Just make sure to switch targets to kill any Snow minions as fast as you can when he spawns them. In a low population instance, this will take you to at least 36 minutes after, if not later. By the time you return to to the Pie Eating table, your 15 minute cooldown will be up or within a minute or so. Do that and you will eat up another 2 minutes, including turning it in. At most, you are 11 minutes from being off cooldown for another Winter Invasion. Take a break, get up and stretch and look at something other than your monitor for 5 of those minutes, it's good for your circulation and your eyes. When the cooldown is up, do your second Winter Invasion. That will take you to at least 55 after the hour and you're done with an hour.

What a geared character should be able to get in that hour.

20-30 pieces for the Tide of Ice.
12 or more for a full Winter Invasion. Twice over is 24 at the low estimate.
4 for Pie eating. Twice doing that makes 8.
    10 for Snowball Fight.

Low estimates used for total, 62 assorted pieces. A Weapon costs 56 specific pieces. Use your last 5 minutes of the hour, or some time in the next to sell what you don't need on the Exchange in order to buy the ones that you do need. They all sell for around the same price, so you should be able to undercut the lowest by a little and still make enough on the overages to get what you need. Then mail the stacks to your own @handle and pick them up on your character that needs the weapon. There you have it, 1 hour for 1 new weapon, no blood clots in the legs or eye damage from staring at a monitor for a full hour, and maybe a grand total of 20 minutes of downtime in 2 roughly 10 minute chunks.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.
