Tribble patch notes, 2nd December 2014
Embassy Romulan Bridge Officers can now have their uniforms customized in the Tailor.
- These uniform options will not include faction specific uniforms such as Starfleet uniforms.
- This also repairs all Embassy Romulan Bridge Officers which have already been purchased.
Ladies and gentlemen, they listened. Finally, we will be able to make modifications to the Embassy boffs.
A shoutout to Cryptic for finally adressing this!
Also, in before people demanding each special boff to be customized.
Comments
..until I noticed that Starfleet Uniforms such as the Sierra and Odyssey are still prohibited.
I'm very curious as to why this is the case. Devs, could you please shed some light on this decision?
Romulans, as the future equivalents of bag ladies and vagrants, can't afford nice clothes.
My embassy Boffs are looking forward to the time when they can have their feet back. They've had no feet for months, the poor things.
Free Tibet!
Don't think it takes a dev to reply to that...they're not Starfleet officers, they're Romulans attached to your crew from the Romulan Embassy.
It raises the question though, will they have the full range of Romulan outfits based on the player's faction. Will KDF players be able to KDF Rom their Embassy BOFFs sort of thing...
Uh oh... I might rethink the computer access they have on my FACR...
Boo!
I prefer my crew to be uniform (with the understandable exception of Nelen Exil), so I guess I'll have to settle for my lousy aliengen Starfleet Romulan
They're sneaky Romulans, they already have more access than you know about...Evil Romulans! :P
But the same reason Neelix isn't sporting a Starfleet uniform is the reason they're not sporting one. Can't see giving up the bonuses they offer for a fake Romulan just because of the uniform when you've accepted Neelix that way.
But personally, yeah - I'm looking forward to having them wear the all black Talaxian that the captain, Hierarchy, and Talaxian are wearing. They stood out as kind of goofy with their dark green winged shoulders.
I was referring to Nelen Exil, the Voth civilian advisor.
I'm still not quite following your line of logic - could you please elaborate?
Sorry about that, was typing that while in the middle of a fight and rushed it. Nelen is not a member of Starfleet - the Embassy Romulans are not members of Starfleet. So the reason for accepting Nelen would cover the Embassy Romulans as well. Just like the Jem'Hadar, the Breen, the Reman...they're not Starfleet, so they don't wear a Starfleet uniform. The Embassy Romulans aren't Starfleet.
Those Romulans aren't like the various Starfleet available species. Yes, you can have a Starfleet Klingon - but there's not a Starfleet Romulan sort of thing.
As for running an Embassy Romulan or a fake/Alien Romulan, there are the bonuses from the Embassy Romulan which is "usually" the main reason people want them, not always - but "usually". The +2% CrtH and +5% CrtD from having Superior Romulan Operative.
I see.
From what I gather, it sounds like it a strictly a lore-related reason. But wouldn't the ability for Embassy BOffs to wear faction uniforms allow both opinions? (i.e. players who consider the BOffs exchange officers from foreign factions, and players who consider them fully commissioned Starfleet/KDF/RR BOffs).
And yeah, it's because of the bonuses that piqued my interest in getting on in the first place, but ever since that heads-up I got a while back, I've been waiting while using my aliengen Rom as a mere placeholder.
They are what they are, though. There are no opinions involved. They're Romulan Embassy BOFFs...
The club wear, it's the future PvP update...synchronized dance contests with players and their BOFFs on Risa.
because they are delegates from the Romulan Republic, not Starfleet officers
same reason you put a human on your Romulan crew, he can only wear Starfleet and not Romulan uniforms, because he's a delegate from Starfleet not a member of the RR
Club Wear + Engineer + Electrostatic Field Kit Module + Dance_Shuffle = Ultimate Troll Win Dance
How about a Sci dropping the new Endothermic? Everybody with frost boots...
(Moomm! Grandpa's telling his stories again!)
These days, it's United States Strategic Command, or USSTRATCOM, due to the fact that it's what's called a "unified command". Back then, though, we still had officers from other services - in fact, I worked with a Naval CPO, and a Commander. They wore their Navy beige uniforms, not Air Force blue. We also had liason officers from the UK and Canada - and they wore the uniforms of their own services. (I never did learn to read the rank insignia of the Canadian Armed Forces, but the only important thing I needed to know was that they were officers and as an enlisted man I had to salute them.)
Similarly, Romulan officers attached to your Fed/Klink ship aren't commissioned officers in Starfleet or the Klingon Defense Force, and thus aren't entitled to wear those uniforms. They are only entitled to those uniforms officially approved by the Romulan Republic Fleet. (That's also why Fed/Klink boffs your Rom gets don't get to wear the Rom uniform.)
but then we should at least have access to all Romulan uniforms different Skin color, different hair....
There is no logical Reason why i can change the Skin color, hair on my Boffs. Its not like our Skin changes its color every few daysor years. But there is totally no reason why i can´t change that on my Romulan BOffs if i CAN change it on my Federation Officers
And still thats no Reason why i can´t change their uniform. Those Officers are Part of my Crew. If they serve on my ship there is no reason to assume that they do not have a Starfleet commission and if they have, they can wear starfleet uniforms.
And the officers don´t even looks like Romulan Republic Officers. They look like Farmers straight from Virinat
No reason aside from them being Romulans from the Embassy.
Why not support both? What's the worst that could happen if a player has two Embassy BOffs, one they want to treat strictly as an exchange officer, the other having a proper Starfleet commission?
Because you get them from the Embassy. Not from Starfleet Academy.
"And there was much rejoicing"
You could always match them to Nelen using the Voth Lobi costume.
I go for a temporal theme so I put any non-faction BOs in Temporal Cold War jumpsuits. Wish the Wells/Korath costumes were faction unbound.
Every time a player Dings an angel gets it's wings.
Because Cryptic takes great care to ensure that the races, factions & the military officers are displayed properly and according to how it is displayed on screen in the shows. *forces a straight face*
edit: all kidding aside I could indeed imaging that they tried to make it possible but CBS said no. Which for that singular case alone might sound relatable but if you take a step back and take a look at the bigger picture (which CBS does not since they only say yes/no on individual cases and do not play STO) it looks stupid i.e. compared up to 50% or more of the 50+ level federation captains you see at ESD fly alien/non-starfleet ships.
On my recently aquiered Embassy off I can not use Romulan uniforms. I mean die actual uniforms.... not the civilian clothing.
Oddly enough they ARE displayed in the tailor window where you can select the entire uniform for the bridge officer, but clicking it does not work and the singular parts are not available.
This is actually a pretty major disappointment for me.... I was so looking forward to having real exchange officers finally....
