I figured out what C47 is missing

angelus214angelus214 Member Posts: 77 Arc User
Hi all,
When the new C47 came out I was very chuffed. I really like it. But to me something was missing. Now dont get me wrong, I do like C47 im not making this thread just to criticize, I just felt something was missing compared to clubs Ive been in and it really got to me trying to figure out what it was.

Finally I figured it out. It need some lights.

Yes I know it has the floor lights and the wall lights and the little lights behind the DJ but thats not what I mean. I was thinking something more like this.

http://www.limuzinpecs.hu/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/dj-speakers-with-lights.jpg

The light beams in different colours is what the club needs. The effect on the floor on above photo wouldnt make much difference given the dance floor lights we have.

I know you can make this effect with the Disco ball but I really think the overall feel of C47 would benefit from extra lighting like this without a player having to activate a disco ball. Especially in the greyish area near the Dock window.

These illustrate my point a little better.

here it is without a disco ball.

and here it is with ball

I think it looks a lot better with those extra coloured light beams and they already have a spot they could be placed in the ceiling above the dance floor.

You know what else is missing from Club 47? Players. It's emptier than Lindsay Lohan's work schedule.

I agree, it would look great with the beams. Wonder if it would cause any lag?

My guess is They didn't put something like that in because of low-end user computers.

During Party Events, with the area full of players (75-100) and then add that light show on top, it would probably be beyond the minimum specs that are listed for the game.

    Especially during the "Q" events.

Maybe they intend players to drop the ball. No pun intended. And the ball would not goes well with the already in place lights.

That was to be expected. The only people that could be really interested would be RPer, but the worst kind of them is on Drozana, while the "good" kind is hiding from organized troll fleet with fire extinguishers and EV suits.

Club 47 for RPer is like creating a pve area dedicated to pve players, and making it open pvp. Just add "hunting ground" over the door, it would be more accurate.

Yeah if the instance was full and the ligths were on and maybe someone fired off a disco ball aswell then it would probably lag out but as mentioned earlier C47 is pretty emtpy so even if 20 people were in it should survive and I was there when TACO and Smirk were in on the live stream and the instances were full and people were dropping balls (sorry that just sounded funny to me lol) and it didnt seem to lag out or at least i couldnt see anyone complaining about it.

And as for it being empty... well i dont go there cos I expect other players to be there. I use it when I dont have the IRL cash to go to an actual club. I can play my own music via itunes or have the ingame music nd see the pretty colours and drink at home.

It's the lack of content, nothing to do there but sit around.

No need to be in a bar it serves no gamming purpose in sto
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

When I said it would be a waste of time to re-introduce Club 47 I was called a troll and told that people would be in there all the time.

I'd say I told you so but there's nobody in the Club to say it to...

Well by the logic of "its empty so its not needed" most star systems should be removed as they are only used now and then when someone is leveling to play the episode so they should only be generated when someone needs them.

Now i can imagine an argument would be "well star systems exist in space so its realistic" but then you could easily say that its realistic that starbase would have some kind of recreation area including a bar/club type area.

You could also say that most areas on DS9 arent needed. The Shrine, The mess area. after all the consoles in the mess area could be easily relocated to the promenade. The upper level of the promenade could be removed.

If things were only added to the game that would be used continually then this game would be alot smaller and a lot less interesting and absolutely no fun

Ya, I had considered this, but thought it might make it look a little too cheesy disco. (the floor was already pushing it). I wanted C47 to stay a little more subdued and classy. (it's a Fed Club afterall). Plus I figured people would be throwing party balls left and right anyway, so it didn't seem necessary.

As for the Club being empty, imo the main purpose of the club is for events. Just as you might have an Event/Concert Hall in real life, the fact that it's empty 90% of the time doesn't mean it's not important to have the space. It will get used when there are events (dev, or player run) there.

Must say that it's definitely one of the better areas ingame from a consistency and feel point of view. Good work tacofangs :)

Club 47 needs to play this all day long.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Kind of makes it a little less classy when the NPC's pull palm fronds out of nowhere and start the fan dance... O_o ;) Then again I am betting someone else was responsible for putting that dance in the rotation for the "all dances" emote...

Other than that, mission accomplished, especially in the quieter area away from the dance floor.

I just wish they'd kept the GPL vendor there after the event ended. I would much prefer to visit Club 47 than Drozana station.

Cheesy disco, heck disco back in its day wished it had all the great gadgetry we have nowadays.

More lights sir, they are needed for the actual club feel, heck even Tron has STO beat!

Know them, but it was never one of my favorite bands.

Let's face it, not much classic disco in that particular genre.
