Fleet Dreadnought Cruiser set up

Well looking to get one of these just as I like the look, going to buy the galaxy bundle off the zen store to get the 3 consoles, so the Saucer Separation, the Cloak and the Antimatter Spread consoles.

I am thinking of going for a mostly plasma set up using both the Romulan and borg reputation torps, but I also have the cutting beam and the ancient omni-beam. I am considering getting some fleet DHCs for the front but it leaves me 2 slots at the back, thinking of using mines and a crafted omni-plasma beam to fill the left over slots. Is there a better idea for that?

No idea what sets will help, I have had assimilated borg technology suggested, I am thinking of keeping the Obelisk warp drive, but is there a better option out there?

The big question is which consoles to grab, I will take the Borg and Romulus reputation ones, I want to use all 3 galaxy ones, is the antimatter spread useful and how much of a nerf is the saucer section taking plus is the turn speed boosted to 16 so making it as nippy as an escort? Then onto which tac and eng consoles fill the gap, going to use my sci console slots for my borg and rom consoles.

Also what carrier pets would be worth picking up as I have no idea what to get :D

Any ideas on how to improve it, this is for PvE as I don't really bother with PvP. I don't play that often any more due to work so I doubt I will get bored of it for a while. Any help and suggestions are appreciated.

Please don't just say the ship is TRIBBLE get the heavy fleet escort cruiser because if I wanted one I would have picked it up already :P

Cannons don't especially work on the Gal-X. You can, but with that turn rate its difficult to keep a moving target in your fire arc.

The two-piece set, if you're buying the pack anyways ya may as well use both parts. You do want the Saucer Seperation both for the extra turn and because the shotgun version of the lance is actually kinda decent (not amazing, but kinda cool when you get a good hit), which means basically you use one console slot for the extra turning and armor and antimatter spread.

Energy, using phasers is actually worth considering so that your tac consoles boost it as well. Not an absolute, since its only a moderately decent weapon at best, but its worth a thought. Plus there are the Bio-Molecular and Phased Biomatter variant types, so you don't have to stick to the standard proc.

Running dual torps on a ship with so slow a turning would probably hurt more than it helps. If you want to finish out one of your sets, use just a single fore torp, plus 6 beam arrays and the rear Kinetic Cutting Beam. Alternately, just go for 7 beam arrays outright. But twin torps on a big cruiser is really difficult to stay on target and make good use of, particularly with the Gal-X's limited tac-boff slots.

Thanks for the reply reginamala78, I will look at going for phasers rather than plasma, was only going for that due to the torps but if I am going for a beam boat I wont need to worry about them.

Would grabbing an omni-beam be a good idea, also what set is a good one to boost a beam boat?

Nice load out, any idea how the saucer and hanger pets are getting nerfed?

You might have swung me into grabbing the assimilated set :D

Take a look at our fleet build here for high DPS and survivability

    http://srs-fleet.net/html/16k_galaxy_dreadnought.html

I was getting 21k DPS with an A2B fleet dread prior to DR. Word was that the Devs were gonna nerf A2B hard when DR launched, so I jumped to my Tac Oddy. When DR hit, I upgraded my Galor for free and ran with it for a while.

All that said, to improve the build, drop the torpedoes, they are inferior in overall DPS to beam arrays.

    ENS Uni TT1
    LT Tac BFAW1, APB1
    CDR Eng ET1, APB1, EPTW3, DEM3
    LCDR Eng ET1, APB1, EPTS3
    LT Sci HE1, ST2

You will need the following DOFFs:
3 purple technicians for EPTx cooldowns
2 Development lab scientists for Science Team cooldowns
1 Conn officer for Tac Team cooldowns

With a tac captain, tactical initiative can greatly reduce the need for extra copies of team abilities or DOFFs to reduce cooldowns while tac initiative is running.

As a dread owner since the galaxy pack release I will say that dual heavy cannons are viable as long you think you're going to remain separated

    Lance is great, especially shotgun.

Saucer is good support, and is deadly with it'd mini lance compared to other saucers.

Hangars have versatility. Personally I go with Yellowstone for the plasma and crowd control.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for all the replies and help guys.

But is it worth getting 1 more omni beam to go along side my cutting beam?

I am currently experimenting with my dread load out, trying to stick with phasers, while at the same time, get as may sets on as possible.

    So far I have:

2x bio matter phaser beam arrays in the front with the enhanced bio matter photon torp, and the omega adapted borg torp.

    Assimilated borg engine/shield/deflector

kinetic cutting beam, omni phaser array, and both heavy turrets in the rear (for better turret barrages)

I use the saucer seperation, antimatter spread, phaser point defense system, and 2 neutronium consoles in the engineering slots.

hydro dynamics compensator, and assimilated console in the science console slots.

3 +30% phaser relays and the multi-energy relay in the tac console slots.

advanced delta fliers in the hangar bay.

My build may not be optimized (especially with the disruptor turret, but I dont think I have a 4th option for a 360 phaser type weapon in the back, reg turrets suck) but I think with the fact that my aft weapons are all 360 degrees, it should offset the forward facing torp launchers, as I just need to stay facing the enemy.

    Thoughts?
