Club 47 and Vocaloid Music?!

fengmd#4583 fengmd Member Posts: 3 Arc User
Okay,

I LOVE what the devs did with Club 47. The music visualizer on the dancefloor works great, the lighting is trippy and dancing is actually pretty fun.

I've noticed a few things though that make me think SOME dev is a fan of vocaloid, particularly Megurine Luka. I mean, the new shuffle emote looks like Luka's moves from her Night Fever song (http://youtu.be/OejCNRdCHVU), but that's not the only thing I noticed. You can make a Megurine Luka outfit with the right costume parts! Well, not EXACTLY, but it's totally not a passing resemblance...I think the devs snuck that in there too. I just know I'm having fun dancing at Club 47 while listening to my vocaloid music. ;)

Check out the Luka outfit I made at the tailor:

I can't wait until vocaloids replace teen pop stars, we'll never see a burnt out mess like Lindsey Lohan or Justin Bieber ever again. It'll be a golden age.

Truly, Club 47 brings a futuristic world of musical hope to life!

For some of us, it has already happened. Hatsune Miku is already far better than lots of current music stars. Even if she is just a holographic program that is created through light, speakers, computers, and glass.

I dunno...as much as I love vocaloid, David Letterman doesn't...Miku was on it and he was like, OKAY TURN HER OFF.

But, I think vocaloid is the way music collaboration and creation will work. This polygon video does a good job comparing Miku to Justin Bieber. Well worth watching:

Well, Miku is just the poster-character for a computer program to make digital vocal tracks...and there are several that are there and sometime pop up at Miku's holographic concerts. Actually, all those songs were made by users of the vocaloid software, and there are hundreds of thousands of them out there. The hologram of Miku is just a vehicle to let users of the software create awesome songs. ;)

most of her fans were also like 'turn it off' because the english was horrid and it didnt even sound like miku. I was in IRC with a couple fans watching them flip their **** and epic nerd rage. Some suit thought itd be a faboo idea then didnt give the technical team the time they needed to make it work right

Well, it was a good idea to promote her concert at the Hammerstein and in LA(which looked like crazy fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IakqH7RmzCI). The execution on Letterman was TERRIBLE. :( I was not nerd-raging, just embarrassed for how poorly it made vocaloid music seem.

I did nerd-rage that Miku expo didn't go to San Francisco though. lol.

Now that I think about it, the game needs a photonic hologram songstress in-game.

We already have Holo Leeta, Holo Tactical and Sci Boffs, and the BONNYKINS holo.

They could even use the Vocaloid synth programs if they really don't want or can't find a decent local singer.

Oh, if I'm right and some of the devs are vocaloid fans, there will be something like that...they could even gamify the heck out of it (matching tones for the hologram like dil mining).

    Gamifying vocaloid...uh-oh...lol.

I don't consider vocaloid "anime," but it surely is more popular in Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, etc...

I think the lower popularity in America is due to the software not being fully geared for English lyrics. Even the ones that are dual-language still aren't easy to use, or aurally convincing. It takes a lot of work to make the tones in English sound decent (Luka's v4 pack will be coming out in February, so maybe that will help creators make some good English stuff).

    Nice signature, btw. lol.

Which leads back into Legacy of Terra: Featuring a hologram popstar forced to become a captain of a ship carrying the remnants of Earth ESD survivors to the next nearest Federation world.

Granted, this would only be about 3-5 episodes because it's nowhere near as devastating as wiping out Romulus and Remus and the rest of the surrounding area.

I would love to see Megurine Luka command a starship! The script for her could go anywhere, from liasons, programming issues, needing to sing, entertaining her crew to keep up morale...like merging the ECH with a vocaloid...lol.

It could make a good 2-part episode, but having a holographic captain, who's ALSO a popstar, would probably be confusing. Like, holo-Leeta running a ship???

Though, what if Miku, Luka, Ren, Lin and Mieko were officers?

    Hmmmmmmm....

Chances are in a few years, actors, musicians, and other entertainers will be replaced by virtual stars with live stage being limited to human entertainers.

A little thing I would love to see added to the new 47 is the freedom to create a playlist of mp3s the game will read and play there (clientside). Nothing against the music there, it's just kind of... dull.

Oh, and ALL the "dance" moves are terrible. I mean TERRIBLE. Real people don't dance that way, it just looks silly.

I turn off the in-game music, and the ambient stuff in Club 47 is definitely kinda meh. But the dancefloor syncs with Foobar when I play music off my desktop in the background, so, that "feature" you describe is kinda already there.

The only decent dance is the new shuffle...I really like it, but for reasons I cited in my op.

hope to see you at the club some time! look for Luka! ;)

    Rough idea:
You as the player was invited to attend the grand ceremony celebrating the maiden voyage of some luxury cruise liner. There you meet up with the Photonic Songstress, her manager, and the senior crew who will be helming the new ship. Sun goes boom, and everyone on ESD is trying to evac to any available docked ships in the short timeframe they have. Of course, you chose to stay behind long enough to aid people onboard the new cruise liner you happen to still be near, telling your crew to beam up as many as possible then warp out and you'll catch up.

Stuff happens, and the Songstress' manager is dead, along with the senior command crew, having been trapped on ESD when they gave the final order to the helmsman to take off without them. In this situation, she's forced to spend processing time to managing her own schedule to make up for this extreme delay, and she's at a loss.

Because she's a Photonic being and one of the few that can be readily turned into an impromptu officer with some programming adjustments, you choose to utilize her, and temporarily lift certain restrictions on her programming and promptly promote her. She is now a Captain with the unique Leadership Trait (or something close that better fits being a Motivational Leader), and you're simply advising her on how to manage the situation while you continue to round up and temporarily promote other surviving officers onboard the ship.

She steps off the bridge once or twice to give a calming performance to the unnerved survivors, before returning to captaining the ship, with some text over how a good captain should keep things calm, etc. The ship makes it through to the nearest secure Federation Starbase, having dealt with a few raiders along the way (in a twist, you actually take command from her Point of View, with text boxes of your character advising her). And at the end of it all, Starfleet decides to allow her to be both the captain and entertainer for the cruise liner, though she does get a new manager.

This leads to the cruise liner becoming something of a mobile social gathering place in Federation sectors where you can do all your banking/exchange/etc like you would with the SS Azura, except without time limits. You just have to find the ship and fly over. You can also beam aboard to chat with other players or the NPCs, as well as attend to your banking/exchange/etc in person as well, if you're one of those who like to be a bit more personal while RP'ing. The Songstress will also give a Club 47 performance once per day, in-game as being she's giving a quick show between cruises. Or something.

Oh, geez. I think I've got a new Foundry mission to work on!!! :D

This is totally doable in the Foundry, and making the photonic songstress look like Luka isn't too difficult in the tailor...and the dialog tree for advising her is doable too. Wish you could create custom rewards for Foundry missions, but oh well.

Mind if I use it? I'll credit you, obvi. ;)

I agree the club looks great and for the first few days it was pretty busy especially when they did the live stream from there it was absolutely heaving with players but now the initial curiosity has worn off and theres no more freebies to be had from there (apart for the NPC`s) its gone back to being the same ghost town it was before and is very much like visiting the captains table.

I think its biggest problem is like with the afore mentioned captains table there is just nothing to do there and looking good is just not enough.
if they had a few mini missions you could do there for choice of marks and/or dilithium it might get some more activity.
the obvious first choice would be a daily dance compo of some kind but even if they had some unique doff missions with good rewards you could get there and maybe some missions similar to the ones you get at your starbase if your in a fleet.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
