It actually doesn't take that long. Do several pve games, Kobali battlezone story missions, doff missions, and delta reputation projects and you will rank up pretty fast. I reached level 60 in two weeks with casual 1-2 hours a day game play.
What bothers me even more than that is the sudden stall when you hit 50, if the grind was spread out and minimized it wouldn't come as a shock when you hit fifty and suddenly had no more missions to compensate for the lack of xp. A game should not require grinding, if I wanted to kill fifty rats a thousand times for a level, I'd build a time machine and play Shadowbane or something.

You do realize they nerfed levelling once again last patch?
So maybe you want to keep your uneducated comments to yourself, apologist.

That made me laugh. I suggest you start leveling a toon from today, playing 1-2 hours per day.

LOL.. they nerfed the skill progress.. before was may be 30 or 40k to from lvl 57 to 58, now is 140k..
I wish level 60 was the end, level 60 you have 10 specilization points, inteligent and pilot space are :18 & 15 = 33.
So after getting to level 60 i still need 23 specilization points at about 159.000 a point is 3.657.000 xp..
Welcome to the grind..

They can't, all the pre DR stuff was aimed that you could smoothly progress the story, if they spread level gap out you'll run in the same TRIBBLE we have now past 50, where you have to grind all sorts of things to get to the next story mission.

That was BEFORE the xp numbers changed a couple of days ago, right?. I did the same thing and I just looked at one of my lvl 57 characters at the current rate of xp gain it will take about three months to get level 60, before the XP nerfing it he was about a week away.
Space the final frontier. These are the voyages of [your name here] on a five year mission to gain one level after the delta rising xp nerf.
I'm sooo glad I leveled up to 60 within the first two days. And, likewise, before The Great XP Nerf of the other day, I only have 3 Spec points left to fill on Intel, with Pilot already fully done. Guess I instinctively have learned to mistrust anything coming from Cryptic (so I figured I go fast, ere they take it away).
It's a shame, though, Cryptic felt the need to TRIBBLE over all those still on their way to 60.

They actually could to a point, I know I am able to skip quite a few episodes (and do) levelling a new toon and can smoothly progress to fifty by skipping approximately 25% of the existing episodes. Either increasing the XP from the old episodes or increasing the kill XP would compensate for the rest and minimize the grind.
As far as the grind after sixty goes, I don't see any way around what they've done with that without adding masses of new content and reducing the exp requirements for specialization points.
Wow. I can't even believe this. I thought after things settled down a little that Cryptic would ease off a bit and lower the XP requirements. They're really making a concerted effort to push the clientele they gradually attracted over the past two years away. Here's a hint: It isn't the ultra hardcore group you have playing EVE.

You havent seen the xp increase with the last patch then. you reached 60 when it was only 30k per level not 100k+ per level.
Geko has stated that the XP rate has increased in addition to the increase in the XP required to get to the next level. In his example, he used Argala Normal. It costs 2.79 times more XP to get from level 59 to level 60. Argala Normal rewards 2.89 times compared to it before the patch. I have no idea if this is true since I didn't bother testing it, but before complaining we have to compare the number of XP required to how much more XP we get rewarded. Of course, it is very likely that Cryptic has missed a few missions and systems so they award the old XP reward rather than the new XP reward as they always do.

Geko was being less than forthcoming. Mission rewards were a small fraction of how XP was earned before. DOffing and kills even on normal and only killing required enemies accounting for most of the XP from 50-60 and this was nerfed by having it not scale fully with the new XP requirements from Thursday.
