Here's one for ya. While standing next to Captain Yim (Tour the Galaxy contact) and facing into the station, there appears to be a horizontal ceiling. But if you're in the station looking in that direction there is nothing there. You can also pass through it no problem. It seems to be just a graphical error of some kind.
Another thing I've noticed since the new ESD interior was released: If you stand there for a while and watch Captain Yim he will occasionally "beam" in thus resetting his animations. (I think I reported this during beta before the new ESD went to Holodeck)
Speaking of ESD O-Great-Taco. Any chance at some point down the line we could see damaged ships in ESD? There are wars and battles everywhere. Surely there are some ships in dock for repair. Docking arms/clamps, work bees buzzing around a damage texture on the ships. Little stuff for immersion's sake.

I was going to say that those ships would most likely be at Utopia Planitia or the other shipyards. But then again, the Enterprise did return to ESD in The Search for Spock all busted up.
Probably would need to redesign the "battle damage" textures.

From an aesthetics and mood standpoint the damaged ships bit is an interesting one. The question is which view that should be showing from. For instance, I would not park a damaged ship where you can see it out the Club 47 window. While a thing like that could hypothetically happen in some alternate universe where Star Trek was real, in-game it would be a major mood killer for that space and Taco was smart not to do it there. IMO the Club 47 space should be one big beauty shot, in the game environment. (Us fanfic writers, however, could mess with that in our work... )
HOWEVER--where I think seeing a damaged ship or two would be very much in keeping with the space would be if there were a way for it to be visible out Admiral Quinn's windows or the shipyard area. That is a space that is more serious in theme and focused on the realities of war. It is also in keeping with the audio we hear in that area too, with talk of heightened security alerts and perhaps most chillingly, one PA address even warns of an "incursion in the Andoria system." That's core-world, close-to-home stuff, and in the wake of the attack that got us our new ESD, seeing some damaged ships with the Undine hitting the homefront as they are would be appropriate.

If we're talking in-universe, I would think you'd park your ship wherever traffic control told you to. It's not really something you as the captain would choose.
However, I can easily imagine some bureaucrat of an admiral in the PR department issuing a memo saying "Don't park damaged ships where the public can see them." But your traffic control guys who are dealing with hundreds of ships per day might not be always able to accommodate that.
I'd love to put in some damaged ships. They'd have to be at the back, because the front is meant to be more of a show room for newish ships.
However, the "damage" effect that you guys see on your ships when you get hit, is an FX that doesn't work on normal geo, just ship costumes. Since the ground scale ships are all specifically saved off geometry, there's no easy way to represent damage on them.

This was one of my favorite pieces of concept art to look at before the game was released. If you could make something like it happen, that would be awesome!
I think to do some damage like that in a ship at ESD would require a new model, or warp nacelle model depending on how the ship is made at that scale. Possible I'm sure, though it might be a while before we see something like that.
Or perhaps a damaged ship in one of the dry docks around Earth orbit somewhere, going through a few frames of animation where damage is being repaired? Animated texture or not, something like that might even be a good contact point for possible foundry missions?

Er, I think that's a screenshot from Perpetual Entertainment... the original company that tried to make Star Trek Online and didn't produce anything tangible.
Still, I agree it would be nice to see a ship that took a real beating. Kinda like the USS Yorktown when it returned back to Pearl Harbor after the Battle of the Coral Sea.

Sounds like damaged ships as seen from inside ESD by the player isn't all that practical. But Borg or other sets can add to (or be hidden from) the ship costume at a click of a button. What about a device or Damaged Starship Set that a player could slot that changes our personal ship to appear damaged to various degrees? Plasma arcs over one nacelle? A spark on the saucer here and there? A burned out deflector dish? That sort of thing.

Just my two cents or two EC.
