The rage the rage

Did you get the "Apocalypse Now" reference?

Anyway, People are pissed right now, too many threads to bother listing.

And people are expressing their rage. And I personally think it's a good thing, it may not be the productive way to get the changes we want, but getting those emotion out here is far far better than keeping the bottled up until you release them on someone undeserving such as your family or friends.
It called "Displaced Aggression".

It's real and it's serious, and it's something most of us have experienced either thru our own aggression or someone else's. It's basically what happens when people get mad at someone, but cannot let that anger out on the person they're mad at because of the consequences (ex: maybe they'd beat you up or fire you), so you go home and yell at your wife or kids because they can't fight back.

So I say let it out and get it all out...right here. Don't let Trolls or Fanboys discourage you from expressing how you feel, especially your anger since this is just a game after all and everyone here will get over it one way or the other.
Will it change the game? Probably not.
Is it better for you and those around you? Absolutely. Cryptic deserves your anger...not the people in your life.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
    Your pain runs deep.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.

Considering how many rage threads there have been the last few weeks, people instead do what mature adults do: grow up, accept they can't always have their way when they want it, and get on with life. We've had enough crying, whining and feet stomping around here. Adding one more thread to that already long list isn't going to help anyone.

This would be an example of a Troll or Fanboy which I was referring to earlier, and as you can see he too is upset, so he takes it out on me although I didn't do a dam thing to him.

Express your anger here where no one gets hurt!!!

No, you have an example of someone who's been watching this forum pitch a tantrum since the middle of October and is tired of it. Mods, close this thread down early and save us all the trouble.

This forum was pitching a tantrum before Shatner put on his first toupee.

Steampunker I don't actually mind that you mad at me. I'm pissed off too.

And that's why I made this post, not to start another rant thread but to remind people that's it ok to be mad and if they are going to mad that's better to do it here than in there RL.
I think it's better to have a forum full of angry threads than to even think about someone hurting their child or worse mine because their pissed off at some game. It happens all the time, be in from drinking, work, the lack of work, money the list goes on. People constantly hurt innocent people because they can't hurt person they want to hurt.

Getting that off you chest and out of your system "Hurts" no one here.

Dude, if you are worried about taking your anger about an on-line space MMO out on your family....

    1) Delete your account - Get out
    2) Seek counselling for your Anger issues and Addiction
    3) Take the time you would have spent in game being angry, and spend it with your family having a fun loving relationship instead

I say it once and once only...

    ITS A FREAKING VIDEO GAME!

    Get real!

The anger is in no way displaced.

Some people just love the game, they're passionate about it and they don't want to see changes that negatively impact it's future. They speak up because they care and they want to see things improve so the game can continue to thrive.

In the end, the Dev team and the players want the same things, the challenge is opening a calm and meaningful dialogue. The players want a game they can enjoy, the Devs want the players to enjoy the game.. and yes, they're a business and would like to make a profit from it. They have employees, people with families, people that need to pay their bills. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them making money.

I know personally, I have expressed some anger on the forums. I haven't taken personal shots at the Dev team like a few, but I have not held back when I felt a change was for the negative. I also try and give credit when progress is made. It's not 'rage' it's concern.. I actually really like this game and would prefer that everyone didn't quit and go play something else.

I wish there was a way that I could have a devs ear for 5 minutes just to calmly explain what I feel the game needs, but that's not realistic. The method for communication is this forum, and unfortunately when everyone starts posting it's the same reaction as when everyone in a room talks at once. People escalate and talk louder and louder in order to make their point.

Don't confuse concerned players trying to be heard with people taking their anger over their daily lives and projecting it into a game. Some of us are perfectly happy people, we just would like to continue to see Star Trek Online prosper and this is the forum we're given to be heard.
    Insert witty signature line here.

is there a productive point in this, specifically related to the game? because it looks like a general flame/rage post against fanboys and trolls. i cant see this remaining open i would imagine.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
