How to use the red matter capacitor?

officerbatman81officerbatman81 Member Posts: 2,761 Arc User
So a few months ago i was able to get a cheap Gold Edition from France for around $15, simply because EVERYONE was wanting a red matter capacitor so badly they would sell their kidneys for one. So i picked one up because it was so cheap on the fact the community demand was so great, even now a days you hear complaining and wishful thinking about them.

I know vaguely what it does and have it equipped but not enjoying its full benefits apparently.

So, how/what occasions do i activate this to "enjoy" it????

Thanks!

Its basically an all in one battery that boosts all your power levels when active. If you're coming off Full Impulse into combat or need a bit of extra juice, I'd say that's when to use a battery or the RMC. The one downside is it doesn't do everything it advertises. It only gives a power boost. It does NOT repair disabled subsystems like the tooltip says.

Put it in a device slot, click it for an ultra battery effect. Very very nice.

description it a bit off... one says repairs all subsystems... yet on the same page it says it only repairs aux subsystem.

    /shrug

a while back i thought it did repair but it could of been a repair to aux power... i know it doesnt repair weapons.

so the repairs all subsystems is broken... but i honestly dont know if it repairs aux power or not.

Its 4 Batteries in one... TRIBBLE if Repair Subsystem works or not...

It can be slotted in a device slot wich mostly goes unused anyway, so its a powerbonus that doesent consume on use.

Wish I had it. Would go well with my build as I tend to use batteries alot.
I also wish we could have the rechargeable batteries that you find in some "Demo Ships"

Equip in device slot then open your ability (p). Grab and slide the red matter capacitor to one of your bar slots. (I have mine to 0 and use it a lot)

great for those times when everything is going all to &^((%. :D

It repairs them for me. What I mean is if someone like Tholians turn off my weapons or engines, I hit the red matter and am back to full and ready to go.

It's a relic from a bygone age, all but useless now. Makes a good placeholder though.

Actually it's not. If you combine it with other energy boosting gear and doffs it's fantastic. My Rom engineer never runs out of power. I've got 4 batteries going and this is one of them, I also just picked up the doff for bonuses when I use a battery from that special weekend event.

So let's recap, I got the energy boosting shield from Omega which gives me power when enemies fire on me, I get bonus power when I use the batteries to all subsystems as an engineer officer, and I use the doff for bonus energy when using an EPTX ability, and a doff for bonuses for which battery type I use.

    It's awesome ;)

as others have said the RMC is far from useless i constantly use it on my Phantom to give a nice kick in combat or a quick regen when coming out of full impulse the RMC can make a world of difference. only thing i really have a problem with is that the weapons subsystem does not come back online if the RMC is used odd =\

If you need a spike of weapons power for DPS damage, use it. If you need to pop a sci skill like grav well and want the most damage you can get, use it. If you want better shield resistance to damage and regen rate, use it. If you want slightly better turn rate and speed, use it.

If you want all 4 at once, use it.

Also, it IS a battery, so skill points in "batteries" will extend its effects noticably, making it last longer. The academy doff event also gives a unique doff that can modify the use with an additional effect.

Hey, it's not game breaking. It's not uber. It's just nice. It's also re-usable, so you don't have to re-stock any consumables.

You are either jealous because you can't find one cheap, or you don't play the same game than us.

Doesn't work for me. Be it Tholian disable or phaser proc, RMC doesn't repair anything. Tested several time, and I'm 100% sure. I thought it was a long time nerf, and they never bothered to change the tooltip.
    Could it be bugged ?

It sounds bugged or broken somehow. I use mine most often against Tholians with their love of shutting down engines or weapons. One of the new Delta baddies does the same. It's not let me down so far!

FYI: RMC is intended to fix disables. If it does not currently it is a bug. They probably already know about it, but feel free to report it again.

Yea... I have yet to see my RMC repair disabled systems. I used to pop that whenever the Tholians nuked my power levels... there was no change and had to wait for the disable to wear off on its own.
