No Tailor Options for Romulan Bridge Officers (Fleet Embassy)

odstparker#7820 odstparker Member Posts: 466 Arc User
I finally got around to grinding enough Fleet Credits to buy myself a new bridge officer, the final bridge officer that I need to complete my non-Starfleet collection (Borg, Breen, KDF, etc.), so I went to my fleet's Embassy and got myself a very rare Romulan boff.

I was looking forward to having a Romulan on my away team, standing beside my KDF Orion officer that I'd gotten from maxing out Diplomacy, wearing my Romulan Decorated Admiral's uniform (my Orion is also decked out in KDF Veteran gear). I thought, since they let us customize the KDF officer just like someone would on the KDF faction, that they had done the same thing with the Romulan ones. Apparently, that's not the case. You can't change the way they look at all, they're stuck with the default face, body, and uniform that comes with the officer, a civilian uniform with some color added to denote career. Mine has a yellow scarf and armband for Engineering.

Please... allow us to customize these officers like any other Romulan officer. I like displaying my own uniforms, and having no ability to change them is really disappointing. You let us customize our Diplomacy KDF officers, why not these ones from the Romulan Republic?

I was also going to invest in a Romulan Embassy BOff, but the fact that they can't be customized threw me off.

And while you're at it, Cryptic, perhaps make Reman BOffs also available from the Embassy?

They have done a remarkable job of making sure that nothing Romulan has any customization options whatsoever.

From the one bridge we get for every single ship, to the lack of ground customization the message from Cryptic is clear. We're done with the Romulan Faction.

    /signed.

Wanted this for a long time. The lobi lib borg romulan can be customised to faction, so why can't the embassy boff?

And I thought the KDF was the faction that got the least attention...

Forget customization, even! How's about Cryptic first fix the missing body parts on them?!

(Yes, OP, you're in for a shock: once another Captain trains one of these Embassy boffs for you, they stand a severe chance of losing a body part, like head/feet, etc. It's a very longstanding bug).

As usual, though, Cryptic doesn't care.

    One can hope, yes. :)

It's also high time the Rom female Embassy boffs get 2.0% CrtH too.

It would. My Xindi Boff lost body parts when traded and trained just like the embassy romulans, however unlike them, he is customizable, and the bug fixed itself the moment I opened his costume at the tailor.

This has been requested time and time again - as has the request of being able to tailor our FE Boff Rewards (Reman, Jem Hadar, Breen etc). Thus far, our pleas have gone unanswered, which is a shame. I guess there's no money in fulfilling such request, so they're not going to do it, which sucks.

I am like many here - I refuse to use them (or in the case of the Embassy Boffs - purchase them) because of their tailor lock. I like to customize my bridge officers - all of them - and if I can't, then don't expect me to use them.

It is disappointing to be sure, but it's the card we've been dealt. Considering how often this has been requested (and how often the request has been ignored) the likelihood of seeing such is practically null.

I'm fine with the other "special" bridge officers (Jem'Hadar, Borg, Breen, etc.) being stuck with default tailor options, because there's not much that we can do with them. I wish that we could give them some more elaborate armor that's associated with that faction (Jem'Hadar First, Breen Captains), but I'm okay with the default outfits.

Romulans, on the other hand, have a full tailor full of facial features, uniforms, and accessories to choose from on their player faction, so why can't we access them on the Embassy officers? I loved the ability to make my Tier 4 Diplomacy KDF officer look like a badass with veteran, so why can't I do the same here, with a Romulan?

I thought the only reason people got Romulan Embassy boffs was for the superior op. :D

Personally I don't see these or any of the FE boffs ever becoming customisable mostly due to time constraints. The Heirarchy one was customisable for a limited time but it was never intentional and was soon patched.

I don't get why they aren't customisable, it makes no sense seeing as there are standard Romulan and Reman characters ingame that can be edited clothing wise. It shouldn't be that hard to fix the Jem Ha'dar, Breen, Voth and others to fit the customisation ingame...

I applaud your resolve and principles! Kudos!

Me? I caved a long time ago, and use as many Rom Embassy boffs as I can on my Fed (for that extra 6% CrtH). It *does* mean Cryptic basically ruined bridge-life for me, though, as I can't stand to see these fugly, unshaved Rom Embassy boffs in their ridiculous Robin Hood suits. Since Tacofangs has long since abandoned bridges anyway, I guess this one extra act of sabotage didn't really bother them either.

Technically, so do Jem'Hadar now that they've developed Jem'Hadar tailor options. And Reman as well.

The only ones that wouldn't presently work, conceivably, would be the Breen and STF Borg BO.

The rest might be limited in some ways but no moreso than Talaxians are.

Hmm, well yeah, likewise, I would be content with open tailor for only Reman and Romulan (because of your perfectly correct statement) - which has been echoed before in the Art Section. I was just making the point that the request had been made (several times) before, with no success.

    what about that hierarchy boff?
It was possible to cutomize it until cryptic decided that this boff is not supposed to be editable (as stated in the patch notes).
Its not a technical problem to do it since for that boff it already worked... its something that cryptic does not want to be done.

If you fill your crew with romulan boffs they all will look the same. Same clothes... same face... same hair.... like procuded in a clone factory.

I wanted a Romulan for my collection and just got the lobi borg romulan and took off all of the borg stuff. You can do full customization on the face and it has Romulan clothing options.

And they don´t even wear the correct Romulan Uniform. Its like a bunch of Colonists on my Bridge.

But that will never change because to change it cryptic would have to listen to the players and we all know they never do that.

The problem here is that the Lobi Borg (as far as I am aware) is for Republic characters only. The Romulan Boffs (and Reman Boff) in question are cross-faction. Add to that, the Embassy Boffs provide (I think) additional CritH chance; something that isn't found anywhere else.

It's fully within Cryptic's ability to do this, just for reasons unbeknown to the rest of us, they wont do it.
