Gun advice...

Can anyone recommend a decent fun to use for ground missions (bug hunt/borg) etc...

I bought the LOBI Fluidic undine wrist lance, and while it is ok, I feel like I am lacking in killing power compred to the other people I am running the mission with :-(

Would the LOBI Elachi cresent cannon be better? or dual pistols? I know very little about ground weapons sadly...

All advice appreciated :-)

A TR-116 and Zefram Cochrane's shotgun are the only guns you will ever need.
I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

The dyson experimental proton gun is awesome. It's like a hybrid of a high density beam rifle, a pulsewave, and a sniper rifle.

Anything pulsewave is adequate, but the rep ones above are good.

Heavy is good. Heavy is reliable. If it does not work, you can always hit them with it.

Before going onto the topic of weapons it is good to examine the general properties of the opponents.

Elachi (not mentioned, but if you're doing queued ground then you can encounter them) have powerful shields yet weak hp. Shield penetrating weapons or weapons with lingering effects such as the Elachi pistol/TR-116B, bio molecular or plasma are preferred. Personally i prefer split beam due to the auto-targeting, but pulsewave is more powerful from close range.

Borg adapt so use weapons they cannot adapt to or, if you're not using omega, maco or KHG ground sets) carry a remodulator. Pulsewave due to its hitting power or the TR-116b are preferred. I have heard that some people like high density beam rifles against the borg and while it is not my preferred weapon it deserves a mention.

The bugs are something else completely. They're speedy little buggers with good kinetic resist and i have noticed that the TR-116b is not particularly effective against them.
Because of their speed i advice use of bio molecular split beam rifle or the Counter command rifle. These because their effect slows the bugs and has a nasty bite with their secondary effect. Upgraded Type 3 phaser rifles (the TOS from the mission) and ghost buster gun are also effective.

The lance is a good weapon against borg, elachi or undine but you need to keep in mind that it has a charging period and is therefor difficult to use against speedy opponents such as the bugs and vaadwaur.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I would not trade my bio-bomb gun for anything! Its from a lockbox, undine I guess, and its secondary drops a bomb that does a very high damage small aoe. Its primary fire is sort of pistolesque. It also works great as a swap-to weapon, use the bomb (long cooldown) and swap to a better shooter, repeat as needed.

My 3 go-to weapons are this bomber, an old crafted melee weapon (purple, pretty good), and the third floats depending on the enemy (you don't want full auto/mini/etc against adapting borg, you want slow big hit shots on those). I have multiple other good weapons and just pick one depending on what I am facing --- if you do your reps you should have many, many good weapons from those boxes, and if you lack ground weapons, do the rep project for a box for each rep until that problem solves itself.

On FED/ROM/KDF side the mission that using tonic drink the awards in that mission are Kirk/Klingon era weapons that are very effective today as ground weapons. But Elachi (weapons are very effective). Really don't want to wait for weapon to fire. It should be rapid firing auto reload and each fire should be deadly!

ALL the weapons have a delay on the secondary fire. MOST of the weapons fire at a "reasonable' rate if you click the shoot button for their primary shot. They do all have a fixed max rate of fire so if you spam the fire button there are limits and that limit depends on the type. There is NO reloading in this game.

Pistols (and dual pistols), I think, are the fastest ... they shoot almost as fast as mere mortals can click a fire button.
The full auto and minigun are decent but you can't shoot again in the middle of a burst. Most of the others have a less than spamable attack.

Just be aware it is mutex. The faster you can shoot it, the less it does per shot, in general. There is no such thing as a one big hit that you can spam. And, again, borg adapt per shot, so spam is no good on them, and spay fire is not so hot either.

If you don't understand the rates of fire, you should try out the diff types from the dropped/looted stuff before seeking out a top end version. Figure out what you like and use that. All the guns do pretty much the same dps give or take just a little bit, with the exception of the knockdown blast gun.
The most popular are the minigun, the pulseweave, the full auto, and the split beam, from what I have seen.

For ground weapons I feel that it boils heavily down to personal preference and what looks good. Though there are some choices that are decided meh.

Some of my personal favs are the Omega anti-proton carbine (looks proper for a flag officer to carry a more compact weapon), the Dyson exp proton rifle, and the Jem Hadar polaron full auto rifle.

Generally I like split beams if I am not using one of the above. I also have a phaser wide beam pistol that I crafted/leveled up that I quite like too.

For Bug Hunt specifically I ended up with a pulsewave which works nicely.

    Elachi Pistol (radiation version)
Klingon Pistol (explosive shockwave-like impact) this one from Night of Comet Mission.
Give the Klingon Pistol a try (FED, ROM, KDF) can obtain this one. Although this one has a limited range of fire. But you can keep on firing it at will! Same for Elachi Pistol (radiation version) with 40% CS Mark 12 VR. Range on this one is better but the Klingon Pistol very effective.

I am not a fan of plusewave I have them but nah I need something with rapid fire even if they fire and hit the target but you say it might land hit the target with a delay. Mini Guns I have those as well. Omega Force Antiproton Autocarbine, nice weapon rapid fire it has auto firing but more like semi-firing load. Still effective.

Yeah the DPS and CS %. I look for these type of weapons but still. I have many weapons I use many to see which one is more effective.

I usually keep one of my weapons as part of whatever set I happen to be wearing at the time for the bonus whether its counter command or maco set. The primary gun floats between a few choices, the new favorite of mine is the delta rep rifle. I love it and the description of the gun does it no justice but the secondary fire on expose attack becomes an orbital strike. It takes a few seconds to fire but does a good amount of damage and doesn't share a cool down with my normal orbital strike so its pretty awesome. I have yet to play with the TR-116B and Zefram Cochrane's shotgun but when I get I want to do a test on how effective the shotgun is, when i finish the event project.
