Repairable Damage in Borg Sector Red Alert?

methos71methos71 Member Posts: 336 Arc User
Noticed something strange yesterday, when playing a Borg Sector Red Alert in the Orellius Sector Block. This particular Borg Alert ended up being an absolute agro mess from Grethor when we all got to the V'Ger Borg, which led to my ship blowing up not once, but perhaps three times.

Odd thing was that I had sustained EPS Conduit damage, as though I had been flying in an Elite STF. I can't ever recall sustaining repairable damage during a Sector Block Red Alert. And I had even responded to two or three sector alerts yesterday morning, before yesterday's patch (didn't get destroyed during those morning runs though). I also made sure to check that my game settings were set to 'Normal' and they were. The damage is remedied easily enough by a visit to ESD or via repair components. Yet, it really...and literally...added unexpected insult to injury during a horrendous Red Alert PUG.

So, my question is, did yesterday's patch bork Sector Block Red Alerts to inflict repairable damage now? Or has it always been this way and I've only just noticed yesterday, after years of responding to Sector Red Alerts?

this happens from time to time, one day you might get damage the next it is fine it all depends not the first time it has happen won't be the last.

Well, this was the first and only time I've ever incurred damage during a Sector Red Alert and I've been playing since FTP launched. And ironically, I encountered something like three alerts while I was zipping around, sector to sector, DOFFing before yesterday morning's patch. Not a single one incurred damage (though, I'm pretty sure I never blew up during those three). First post-patch alert I responded to and whammo...EPS Conduit damage.

I will say that I once noticed a similar glitch during Starbase 24 STFs, which happened consistently as well. Yet, the next week's patch seemed to clear it up.

I'll hopefully get to play sometime this afternoon and post back if I encounter this in another Red Alert this afternoon. That is, if I chance to get agro'ed and destroyed again.:P

Older thread, but first one i found with this subject.

Just received a ship injury in the borg redalert sector thing too, and i had set that character to normal difficulty. Injury was a minor one, projectile launcher damage.

First time ever that i get damaged there, and been doing lots of those missions.

which one? Orellius and one of the Cardassian blocks seem to have stronger Borg than the others.

I got the same thing last week in the Tholian Red Alert at Tau Dewa. Got taken out by one of their 'orrible web mines, and respawned with projectile launcher damage (not that I use projectile launchers).

Orellius sector alert basically translates to Elite or at least Advanced difficulty with higher level enemies... (I want to say level 55 enemies at least.

Maybe the rebalancing with DR has changed that a bit.
Could be they are leveled at least to 60 now.

I hope that is not the case. It was hard enough BEFORE Delta Rising. I have found that some of the Sector Alerts (Tau Dewa in particular) are more likely to finish successfully after DR compaired to before.

Why wouldn't there be a chance to take damage in these? It's a battle, like any other part of the game. If your settings are on advanced or elite then you should be able to take damage in every fight.

This is something I've seen occasionally, but not at all consistently. I just shrug and repair.

Sure, it's not supposed to happen, but sometimes it does, but, as long as it's a rare event, which it has been for me, then it's fine. I figure that if I can't duplicate the issue and it happens (for me) about once every 2-3 weeks, that Cryptic probably is having a hell of a time tracking it down.
