I'm looking for some help with upping my crit hit chance. I know boffs will help a lot but i'm not sure which ones help. And what equipment should I look into getting/using? What doffs should I try looking for? I play joined Trill and here is my build so far, skills included. Any help would be appreciated, please and thanks in advance.

Weapons with the "CritH" (Critical Hit) modifier.

Romulan tactical bridge officer with the "Superior Romulan Operative" trait, from the Fleet Romulan Embassy.

Vulnerability Locator tactical consoles, from the Fleet Spire.

Tachyokinetic Convertor console, from the Lobi store

Zero Point Energy Conduit console, from Romulan rep tree.

Assimilated Module console, from Borg rep tree.

    I'm sure there are more....

Accuracy is supposed to spill over into critH and critD, but I don't think it is calculating correctly.

Keep in mind that you don't actually want CrtH weapons.

CrtH is +2% Chance, CrtD is +20% Severity.

The bonus we get from critical hits is Chance * Severity. There's no practical case where +2% to Chance will increase your critical damage more than +20% to Severity.

You do want Locators though, those are 80% of a CrtH mod, whereas Exploiters are 40% of a CrtD mod.

^ In other words: get the Locator consoles from the Fleet Spire, then get weapons with CrtD.

Dyson Rep Experimental Proton Weapon and the Console gives a 2-piece bonus, that gives you across the board +3% Crit chance. The weapon isn't currently working properly with Surgical Strikes, but is fine otherwise (IME).

Dyson console plus the torp is better for the 2 set bounes because when the torp crits it has a chance of making a small grav well. Use it with torp spread on a mob thats all ready in a grav well and watch them pop.
As for acc overflow every bounes 10% =1% bounes crit.

    Okay look, listen. Ignore everything posted in this thread so far. Especially this bit here from DJ;

The bonus we get from critical hits is Chance * Severity. There's no practical case where +2% to Chance will increase your critical damage more than +20% to Severity.<<<SOOOO CUTE!

    Pretty funny stuff! Anyway.

YOU have a PHANTOM. YOU dump your OLD cannon abilities and slot ONE copy of SS2. Max out your ship mastery and you have RECIPROCITY.

SS2 grants 30% Acc and Crit Chance. Each. There is no practical way in the game to actually increase your severity stats enough to actually take full advantage of that. So find a bunch of exploiters or whatever and have a ball.

    Cheers!:)

EDIT: And fire up a nice DCE/Aux2ID and two of whatever you want Doff scheme. Combined with Reciprocity you'll be flush with abilities.

    Phantom Build

Used this up until I maxed out mastery. Once mastery is maxed I had to drop duplicate abilities tac/intel otherwise they just step on each other, only one ever fires the other remains on group cool down. Gear was a mix of weapons I wanted to test out with SS, especially the Quads and the same with the consoles. Phaser consoles are exploiters and photons I had locators so I kept them. If you run Aux2ID doffed, you really don't need as much armor as I have, but your build has zero. So run Aux2ID and some armor as you're gonna be eating some subnucs and other nasty business as you PVE.

Only because they don't want it to yet. This is intentional.

Yup, I know it's intentional; but it also turns into a Phaser Cannon for the duration of the SS effect, which I'm guessing isn't.

Probably not. I bet the fact that it procs polaron burn at the expected rate while under SS2 Isn't intentional either.

Aye, it was certainly interesting reading the combat log as I tried to make sense of what my EPW was up to these days, after DR dropped, with my Surgical Strikes Eclipse.:confused::confused:

Btw, can you uprade your EPW, since you still extensively use it? I tried yesterday, since I still use it on non-SS ships, and couldn't upgrade mine.

Just tested it. Shows that it can be upgraded. Mine is currently MK XII. I even slotted two rare 5000 pt tech upgrades that I had lying around for some mysterious reason. I'll likely regret that.

Anyways yes, they upgrade. I only have 96 thousand or so more points to go.

Thanks for testing that - much appreciated! Goodness knows what's going on these days, but it seems that my EPW just didn't like the look of the cannon upgrades I had in inventory; I used those on a different weapon, crafted some fresh ones, and it liked those fine.

Took the weapon up to Mk XIV, though still only VR despite my feeding it with a constant supply of x1.5 quality accelerators, and it's bloody awesome! Procs like crazy!:)

    Cheers again.

    Lots of good stuff

Thissler do you know if the BO proc works with SS? I know it doesn't with FAW. Thanks!

Okay, interesting question. Let's see if I have it right.

The BO proc...well they made it a 100% crit chance...But that can't be the question.

But does it work with SS? If you load BO you have the buff for 30 seconds. The system cool down for these abilities is only 15 seconds. So if you wait that out you can then start SS.

I only did this twice. What happened both times was that SS would immediately take effect. BO wouldn't be consumed. When SS expired BO would trigger on the next available cycle.

If you activate SS first, the system cool down kicks in and SS will expire 5 seconds before you could load up BO anyways.

      Cheers and TY for reading!

I was under the impression that using SS on top of BO just overrides BO. It's similar to how when you hit THY and TS, the THY always ends up being "top of the pile" but you can't fire them both off at the exact same time. You fire off one and then the other becomes available if it hasn't timed out by that point.

@thissler - I'm curious on your thinking to equip Locators and Exploiters?
