I just had a fun experience doing the Mirror event. It started out with my cpu freezing up during the map load. I had to restart my cpu and relaunch the game. Once I was able to get back into the stf was surprised to see only 1 other player, Fang I believe was his name, still on the map.
I immediately brought my tactical odds into the thick of things as the station was just surrounded. I defeated a few ships before shear numbers defeated me. Upon my resurrection I was able to make it over to my lone teammate and we defeated what ships we could.
The station looked lost, a complete burning husk but it still fought on . The station eventually was able to send the the ships back through the portals. That effectively allowed the two of us to knock out the second wave of portals and ships. I engaged the Dreadnought to keep it off the station while Fang handled the last portal spawn. Once Fang was able to engage the Dreadnought it went down easier than I thought it would.
Anyways has anyone else had such a fun experience with the mirror event with just 2 players ?
I have not had that with Mirror Invasion but I did have that with Into the Breach Elite (old elite). We had a ship get stuck in the wall at the second part (first interior chamber). The whole team left except one other. He found a way to glitch into the wall to destroy the last ship. We then continued on together from there the rest of the way through. It was a hard PITA but, it was satisfying to complete the mission.
Not two, but three.
The first one was a "victim" of a disconnect, it seemed. After a while there were a lot of ships around. One guy just kept blowing up. I was trying to close the rifts as fast as possible, but I wasn't fast enough. The station started to get hit, so another guy gave up. The remaining two and I kept at it but we were completely on the defensive.
Still we ended up finishing it.
I really don't get why people give up. It's timed, so either way we can get it done.
A friend helped me with the final story on Delta rising. Round about the last wave of ships, we found one stuck on the side of the map. We kept hitting it repeatedly but nothing happened. Then we managed to manuaver into a position that we could wittle it down.
I mean really whittle. I figured we where at it for30 mins or so. Indeed , we chatted while doing it and at the time my ship had a thing that reduced the shields while he cannoned it.
Fun fun memory. The rest of the mission went fast after that . But it was that moment that i felt i received a friend through this.
Really inspiring to see how people can bring teamwork together sometimes.
I suggest we make this a thread for positive team stories. I like to smile now at what cryptic is doing instead of all the darkness that some are experiencing.
Thanks
Whether you think you are right or wrong, either way you are RIGHT.
I have had this happen a couple of times in other queues. Most of the time I don't notice that we were short handed until it was over. I normally spend the match pew pewing away thinking, pfft another team of noobs. Then at the end, I look around to see only one other ship and realize that we each just solo'd our half of the map and give props.
I'm happy some people enjoyed the thread. It's moments like this in any game I've played that I always remember the best. STO has become a second home for me since the shutdown of my 1st home, CoH. I've played STO off/on since the 1st month of launch as a casual player and last nite was probably the most fun I've had so far teaming.
Happened to me several times in the Breach, though sometimes end up with 3 or 4 instead of 2. Learned the hard way that I have to have an Engineer Boff with Eject Warp Plasma, or the Theta Radiation Dump console on-hand at all times for that mission, since the repair ships sometimes lock up.
No idea if Metreon Gas Canister explosions would work too.
