OK so i came across a map while playing with a buddy and it gave massive skill points, now because of past statements i would just like to know if the game is now working as truly intended or would i be fined in some way for farming this map to finish off my skill tree?
and i cant even say in public what map it is because if it is going to be considered an exploit then id be breaking some rule doing that as well. i mean really its like a catch 22 if i do i could be punished. if i don't im punishing myself. but i have no way of knowing. and no its not 15 times but compared to everyplace else where cruisers are giving 82 skill points 300 to 500 skill points seems great.
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.
Then write a message to Smirk or Trendy if you can't say the map, and they will have a Dev look at it.
I don't know what day it is on your side of the planet but it can happen that it is weekend and there is usually no CM here and the Devs only have a skeleton crew then.
Cryptic should be in control of what they want players to do and the rewards they get.
This worries me that we as players need to be concerned now with being punished just for playing.

Naah, keep on exploiting it. You might lose 10-20 points for a week or so but then you will get them back again. It's common practice in STO.
you cannot cheat in STO unless you go into sto files an alter them
playing the game is no way cheating
This Is a military game every move we make Is to exploit the enemy to benefit our ship and crew
It cryptics job to deliver a playable product..Its on them that they have us playtest it for them because of their lack of QC
If you exploit evey oppurnity that presents itself to you ...That means your a good commander

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
Wait... you are saying there is still content in sto that rewards skill points? OH MY GOD I HAVE TO FIND THIS PLACE.
Well, if patrolling Argala counts as 'content,' then yes, there's still some to be had. Be quick about it, though: tomorrow they may change their minds again.
The fact that people are getting paranoid about Cryptic's reaction to a measly 300 skill points says a lot about the way Cryptic have been conducting themselves recently.
They obviously need to work on their customer relations ASAP.

This is just sad. When the players need to ask the developers for permission to play the content they put in the game for us to play, it is sad. You should never need to be afraid to play the content in the game for fear of punishment, when you are doing as they say they want you to.
If they TRIBBLE up, then they should just go through and fix it, without blaming us for it. But the tight grip they have on experience points makes leveling feel like you are underwater, and trying to breath through a coffee stirrer. Honestly, they need to relax, and let us breath.
They could let us level to 60 as fast as we use to go through the other levels. Then, once you hit level 60, cut your experience back some. This will allow us to reach level 60 in a reasonable time, but not burn through the rest of the captain's specializations.
However, they want everything to be a grind. I am surprised that we don't need to do a login grind, where we have some mini-game we need to complete just to login. Lol. If the devs relax a little, and make playing fun, more people will WANT to spend money on it.

This is the new norm...300 XP is "massive and an exploit" as per Cryptic's new crackdown policies.

This is exactly what started to happen in GW2 when people were farming and they nerfed the locations people were farming and banned accounts.
Now everything normally done in the game to progress can be called at any time and exploit and players can be punished just for playing. This is why if they were smart they'd get D'Angelo out of his seat and put someone more competent in it so that the players will have faith again in the company.

STO Dev programming and software testing incompetence is not an exploit. (And that's EXACTLY what the Japori (and other maps involved) situation showed, Hell, the script they wrote to rollback those they considered 'exploiters was obviously not programmed or tested properly - which is why in the end, Cryptic just gave everything back to anyone who was 'flagged and rolled back by said script.
If Cryptic doesn't know their own game configuration and what they're adding, it shouldn't be for people just playing the game to 'second guess' the Devs intentions. A 'professional' company of devbelopers SHOULD have proper procedures in place to make as sure as possible that these things don't make it to the Live server. Of course it doesn't help when they leave such code IN PLACE and running for over a full year before said Dev team suddenly decides, "It's an exploit."

mhm. THIS^
I am already starting a thread about that. How hard can that be to keep control over all those bits and bytes.
