Introduction for new players

albinovampire987albinovampire987 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
My advice for new players is to leave and find a different game to play now.

Sure, if you are a Voyager fanboy then you might enjoy some aspects of the new game play, but earning enough XP to do it all will get very old, very quick.

The game had become horribly imbalanced with the introduction of new abilities exclusive to Intel ships; should you ever decide to PVP now, you atLEAST need Intel team to clear most of the debuffs that wil be coming your way. Otherwise, you are fraked.

If you want to farm XP to earn all of your specialization points, you need to pick a system in the delta quadrant and replay it about 11 times (this is beyond lvl 60) on advanced difficulty to earn a spec point, because Elite is just laughable and takes twice as long with less pay afterwards.

The game generally isn't as enjoyable as it was before. Rewards have been cut in half and relabeled as 'better' and harder to achieve. Don't waste your time, you will find(grind) more enjoyment in other games.

maybe as the voyager series lasted 7 years they want to make sure the game episodes take just as long to play through.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

I was so looking forward to this new expansion as i used to play daily, but since this expansion launched, I just dont feel the love for this game anymore.

The Log in and play with friends/fleeties has now turned into a do i want to log in and do the same repetitive stuff to get to lvl60 so i can then do the same repepitive stuff to do my specialisation tree.

There is no fun factor in this game, correction the only fun factor i get from this game is from a saturday night when our fleet all pvp against each other.....thats it...all fun has been sucked out of game.

This is not a "I Quit" post its just i cant see me playing this game anymore until cryptic can sort the game out as in bugs etc etc...i still have 5k zen on my account that i bought before "Dilithium Rising" launched...but after all the fiasco since i just dont wanna spend it, and worse still i dont want to play it.

And i feel really sorry for a person who has justy started playing this game.....as it wont be a game there playing they will be actually working to try and get anywhere...all the fun has gone...Im British not Chinese Farmer. I want fun not grind 100% of my game time.

This seems to be the most relevant perspective of our chinese overlords:

oh you have a wife? we f**k her for money!
oh, you have a husband? we f**k him for money!
oh, you buy delta pack for 120$usd? we still f**k you hard for more money!
you dont like how we f**k you? too bad. we f**k you more
oh we see you got tired of getting f**ked so you bought something. guess what? we f**k you more now!
    you bend ova now!
    grab your ankles!
this is not the premium angle, bend over more so we can better enjoy you when we f**k you

oh you want lifetime subscription? guess what? f**k f**K f**k for you!

Its Halloween. Trick or treat. Its a giant PWE wiener just for you!

    Dear New Players,

You have plenty to do in the 3 factions starting up, then you can decide if the ongoing game (and community dooom) is for you.

    Cheers

Yeah I've been giving out the same advice. If you're new to STO, and you like Star Trek in particular and want to play the adventures, then come in, play them, and leave. There's nothing at endgame to warrant staying and working at it for anyone new now. Which is a shame, as it didn't have to be like this.

this really feels like a grab for the voyager fanboy money, because otherwise, the expansion(if you were not a voyager fan boy) is nothing but a giant global NERF.

oh you like that dil after ISE? nerf
you like that dil after disco? nerf
you like that dil after khitomer space? lol
you like that build you created to play Cured Space? LOLOLOLOLOLOLbye
hive onslaught? more lols just cuz we can lance you from any lolz just lolz lololol
oh it gets better, beyond those normal queues, all of the queues have been affected too!

So how do you experience STO? You like the added grind in this expansion?
You happy to see that some bugs since 2010 are still in the game?
You enjoy the many issues each patch and expansion brings to the game?

To be fair, maybe if PWE did offer to buy us dinner and a movie first, it might feel different...

You know, say maybe an egg roll, and then an old Bruce Lee video or something...

That way remaining players might not feel so cheap and dirty just logging in... *grinz*

If anything your immature and quite racist drivel will do a far better job of scaring players away than any questionable expansion ever will.

    Good job.

I'm sorry, but your thread title and your first paragraph are very misleading and have nothing to do with new players whatsoever. I understand the dissatisfaction, but trying to use the new players to express it is poor form, IMHO.

I came to the thread expecting someone sharing relevant tips and advice for new players that may help them in understanding the game mechanincs better and wanted to see if I can contribute to that with some of my experience with STO. Obvioulsy this is not the case here.
Venting is one thing, which I understand, but bringing newbies to the thread and to the discussion is no way to express it.

i apologize. Maybe I can clarify some issues i have with the game..

    To all new players:

if you thought grinding to lvl 50 was easy, well ya best pack yer pants in, cuz yer gonna have a whammy of a time now!

With the new expansion, you get to experience instances and silly player-only content with exclusive voice-over content from the actors of Star Trek: Voyager (discluding Captain Janeway, we all know what she did.)

but you still get to clunk around in the game, as if earning the rank of fleet admiral{60] really meant nothing..,

There's plenty to do and, there's no need to grind. Play what you like and ignore the rest.

Are the changes with DR annoying? Yes. Are the same type of changes that eventually had me leaving every other PWE game? Also, yes. Play until it is no longer fun, then move on.

For new players there is plenty to do, but veterans done it and whats left is specilization upgrade..
I wanted to start PVP (got some friend doing it), but with the upgrade cost and the specilization grind, this isn't going to happen (did 2 grind's and upgrades, PVE and NWS ship) fun is gone for me.

And if i say the grind is to much. i build a tier 5 star-base almost by my-self, level 20, tier 5 !!
Already don't play any of my sci's and engineers, even my tac ground build is getting dusty.

I used to play with 8 characters almost every day, now i play sometimes with 2..
Hope Cryptic getting great data and fix it in the future.. till then i sometimes will log-in.
