Well we have another lifesale and the thing is I would love to take the plunge! But I can't see any reason for "me" to. My story I am sure is similar to others. I was a day one player. In fact I was even in beta for a few weeks. I never took the life plunge but instead I did 6 month continuing sub. Even when the game went free to play, I stayed a sub for the vet rewards. Once that ended at 1000 days I let my sub run out at about 1100 plus days.
First thing I did was buy the increase EC thing. After that I was set! I already had way more bank slot purchased early on as well as BO slots. I did not creat foundry stuff and only had one "real" toon. Idk btw how people have more than one toon! I play almost daily and still barley able to keep one up to day and maxed.
So what is the motivation for me to go life??? Well vet rewards I guess. Start them up again!! But really what would it take to get my credit card out at this very moment?? Well I would love to be a Borg! Yea I know that's a perk but i don't want to start over!! I just can't!! To me that is nuts!! So what then?? If cryptic would let me turn my max lvl current toon into a Borg then I would very likely go life! I know it's been talked about for years. Would love to see that happen.
I did it because I subscribed anyway and plan to continue to support the game as long as it's around.
I think I've gotten the most use out of all the respec tokens.

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
There's no way they're gonna sell many. I might have considered it a few months ago but the game is taking a sickening grindy money-grabbing turn for the worse, so no more money from me.
For me it would be having the ££ ($$) to be able to think yep i can afford it and not think ok i can afford it but i would miss the money coz hello poor lol.

yeah I saw a pretty impressive influx of vet ships this summer flying about. I think that sale went very well. Not so optimistic about this one.

I don't sub. I've spent considerable money in the C store. I won't buy a lifetime sub because there's simply not enough value there. The only real perk is the 500 zen stipend a month. I think that people who commit to a life time sub should have access to a handful of useful things that nobody else does. The first thing that comes to mind is a Galaxy battle cruiser variant. Not the Dreadnought, a standard galaxy with integrated saucer sep the ability to mount dhc's and a ltcmd tac boff etc. Or such other genuinely useful perks that aren't available by any other means.
Want a Defiant with an integrated battle cloak? Buy a life time sub. (Cryptic you would have a mass influx of money if you implemented these two suggestions. You're welcome)

Borg?....ya, no doubt it's coming, but trek fans probably won't
be able to stomach seeing a cube pulling up to ESD.
I know I'll be reaching for the barf bag when it does...hehe WARNING, that link may be in bad taste...no pun intended.

At this point, the only way to get me to prioritize buying LTS over DLC/Cash Shop items for other games is to give it a permanent XP boost perk or sell it for what it's really only worth as-is; 75-100 USD. The LoR and DR pack are still better investments than LTS.
Give LTS permanent 3x EXP gain across Normal, Advanced, and Elite over the standard. That alone would justify at least 200 USD.
Give Gold non-LTS permanent (for the duration of the paid membership) 2x EXP gain across Normal, Advanced, and Elite over the standard, to help sell pay-as-needed memberships.
If they're to tempt me to pay the standard price of 300 USD full up, they'd ALSO need to include full unlock to all faction-specific Hull Material skins (namely Mirror and Material 1 through however many there are per faction; though class-exclusives like Intel, Dyson, Vesta, and the Avenger's unique skins can remain exclusive to those classes), permit unlocking of space set visual overlays or skins upon full set completion. For example: Collect all 3 Assimilated Borg ship equipment and unlock the Borg overlay to complement your chosen skin without having to keep the shield on, or collect all 3 Breen ship equipment to unlock the Breen skin for all owned ships without having to keep the shield equipped for the skin.
Basically, do the same for ships as what is currently done for character Rep costumes. Collect the set, unlock the skins or skin overlays. In addition, unlock more character clothing options if Cryptic doesn't want to sell them as packs. Full Tal Shiar clothing options for Romulans, for example.
I'm not going to bother asking for a guaranteed ship every new Tier, since I understand Cryptic wants money, but just giving guaranteed access to full ship skins and overlays, a permanent EXP boost, and almost unrestricted access to faction-specific clothing is plenty enough.
well i am gonna get it. I have been paying for 6 month subs and decided that I probably will get this now.... plus I like talaxians and enjoyed neelix so shoot me
I saw a few others had partaken. Really in the scheme of things if you intend to play for 6 months or a year its worth it I think .. However I see that the ship upgrade token is character bound and not account bound which is odd.. I guess you better decide which one claims it right quick then.

It's account bound. It comes in a box you can move between characters.

Changes brought about in DR encouraged me to drop from Gold back to Silver.
Honestly, at this point in the game, you would have to be absolutely nuts to go lifetime. At the rate they're going, 'lifetime' is less then a year. Right now, I wouldn't pay $40 for a Lifetime Sub, much less $200.
P.S. This new forum flood interval of 300 seconds is right on par with the in game changes. Stupid, pointless and designed to do nothing but turn what used to be a painless activity (posting on the forum) into a time gated, frustrating chore. Seriously guys.. 1 post per 5 Min?
As someone that has been subbing gold, I like the idea of being able to cut the money off if the game looks like it's either A) dying, or b)no longer worth my time due to bad in game direction.
A life time sub for a game that meets either of those criteria is far from a good investment, so for me, after seeing the direction things have taken, I'm balking at something that I was actually waiting to do, prior to DR. It also forces me to weigh up my gold sub since I'm thinking about the nuts and bolts of it all because of this.
For this to be worth it to me, the game itself, not just the rewards have to measure up on their own. Offer me more tasty fluff just like you did with this promotion, but make the game itself something I'd want to use those items in. Otherwise I'll be just as happy playing for free and spending my money elsewhere on a game that feels like a better financial and time investment to me.

I take it you a free to play guy and also a noob to the game. No offence intended;) But if you know anything about this game you would of known I was referring to the playable borg that you get as a life member
I'd love to buy it, but it seems that they want Credit Card cash. PayPal is asking for CC info, while I made it to avoid that very reason.
It won't just send me to another form of payment, which is just directly from my bank or right off the money that I currently have written over to my PayPal.
I wish this was just as easy with the Zen buying method. It's frustrating me to heck..
To think that some people have to think before buying, then decide to buy it-- to come this paying method.
They could start by making our formerly end-game ships and gear viable at true end-game again and apologizing for trying to extort us into buying upgrades for no reason except to shake the money tree. Oh well, looks like nobody getting anything.
I think people should stop seeing the LTS as an investment, and as more of a sunk cost. If you want to invest in the game buy shares in Cryptic. Saying 'in x years the LTS will pay for itself' is pretty silly, especially if the game isn't gonna be around for x years. And even if it will be, the 500 'free' zen you get per month is a pretty meagre return on an 'investment'. On the other hand, if you look at it as a sunk cost, then you should be asking if the $200 (normally $300) you'll be out of pocket is worth the price you pay for the things that you get. Or in other words, is there something else you could spend that kind of cash on and still have happiness result.
I have lifetime. Would I buy it now if I didn't already have it? Absolutely not.
DR was a mixed bag. There was some fun in there, but more than enough bleh that would turn me away from buying LTS even if I was considering it before. Once again, Tribble got used for testing, and the bug reports were predominately ignored. Not only do we still have many of our old beloved bugs plaguing us, but we've scored some new ones. Quality of life improvements are virtually non-existent, or are being made more troublesome. Need resources for the SB? Want to put some DOFFs in there? Prepare for repetitive strain injuries. The delay between doff missions finishing isn't helping, not to mention even starting new R&D projects have a wonderful lag delay that you may or may not get hit pretty hard by.
Value wise, I wouldn't say LTS is worth it. The bonus inventory/bank/account bank slots are pretty nice, and about the only reason I'd consider it now days (but you get that anyway by subbing for a month). The Veteran Rewards are alright. Nothing worth going for either, but they're decent enough bonuses. For the LTS specific stuff, only the Liberated Borg and the Talaxian are of any note, and neither of them would personally pull me towards buying LTS.
The monthly stipend was one of the biggest reasons I got LTS, but as the game gets older, that gets less valuable. It'd take about 3 years worth of stipend to become worthwhile (depending on how you value the other stuff). I feel that STO probably isn't going to be running in 3 years; it's aging, full of termites, and the space related MMO market isn't getting any friendlier. It'd need a pretty major overhaul from the ground up to be on the books right now if it's to survive the future. I personally doubt that PWE would fund that, and are more interested in milking STO dry before discarding its dessicated husk
thinking as a FTP`er if I was never going to ever log in a play again then no I would not buy it but if I was happy enough to log in and play every day as I do even though there may be some things about the game that I don't like very much then yes I would still buy it if I wanted to and could afford it.
even if I thought in say 6 months to a years time I might stop playing compared to other forms of entertainment its still good value.
having said that from a new buyers standpoint I do believe the rewards could do with rethinking, at least update or replace the T5/T5U 1000 day ships with a T6 to make the package better value.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
But I don't regret my lifetime subscription. I did not play for about 2 years and was sitting on a pile of Zen, that was nice. Whether you get much out of it will ultimately depend on how long you'll play and how long the game will last.
My lifetime subscription has probably refinanced itself, just counting the Zen I got and the free ship tokens.
