Croatian for beginners

My account got banned for the useage of the name Geko.

First of all my FED alien toon looks a bit like a gecko or lizard thingy and I decided to call him "Geko" since most of my toons already have Croatian names and geko simply means gecko (google translate it if you wish). I had absolutelly no idea that it was bad and that there was a Dev with the same name. I would have appreciated the opportunity to simply change the name instead of being shot first and not asked at all.

    I agree, this thread has gone on long enough. Based on the screenshot that shouldn't have been posted in the first place, the ban was a temporary one and people got a handslap for using some variation of Geko...

    ... which probably wouldn't have happened if certain individuals who may or may not post here had not chosen to immortalize their dislike for Captain Geko with some derogatory variation. But I'll leave it at that and refrain from commenting any further.

    And you do all know that you can report threads via the support website, right? You don't have to wait for a mod to take notice.

    The part in Bold, which is the "nuts and bolts" as to why you got a temp ban, was done by me. I would suggest that you file a customer support ticket and explain. Hopefully, they will correct this since your intent was not to assume the role of a Dev (or insult, make fun of, etc). If not, it should only be a temp ban and you should be back online in 24 hrs.

    Didn't players also get penalised for linking certain doffs in chat? (Doffs obviously get their names directly from Cryptic.)

    And there was this whole "You said the forbidden word in chat? We ban your account!" issue a while back. I wonder, is this auto-banning still going on?

    Agreed, explain your situation to Customer Support, request your ban be removed and explain your reasons, and Customer Support should listen and make their decision.

    However, I wouldnt try to use the toon name Geko again. I have seen in the past ingame when someone has done that with malicious intent (I am not saying you were), trust me, it gets brutal and nasty.

    Thank you guys for the support, my ban of 24 hours expired and now I can play the game and read the formus again.

    Call your toon "Lagartixa". It's Geko in portuguese. I don't think there's a Dev named lagartixa
