I would like this. The turrets are worse than useless because they actively remove a device slot that could be populated with something that isn't TRIBBLE.

If they simply reduced the threat on those it would go a long way.

The turrets need all sorts of buffs. +res and maybe FAW or +range or something at least. Normal NPCs one shot them, they don't do any damage even if they last long enough to attempt it, they can't lock down anywhere near large enough an area to be worth being a consumable like they are.

There's literally no reason to use them right now.

I would say some small steps that would go a long way to making them desireable:

    1) Reduce their threat generation.
1a) If you cannot reduce threat, increase their resistance or HP to cpmensate.
    2) Reduce the deployment cooldown by about 1/3
    3) I like the ideas about giving them a beam power. However B:FaW generates a ****ton of threat, so it would have to be scripted for them to NOT do that out of the shoot (Just like those Tholian fighters that like to die so much...)

#3 gives me an idea that perhaps there could be a high-accuracy variant that will ONLY target torpedoes and small craft, and ignore big ships.

And maybe we could get a deployable Star Fire SBMHAWK missile pod ripoff* that uses the Spatial Charge firing animation (I mean, technically there is already a mission where you have to face off against missile platforms like this, just repurpose them as a consumable device).

*sans warp/impulse drive and mobility; or even as a consumable pet that follows you around for 20 seconds until it fires all of its payload and then rams an enemy
